I like to do this every once and while just to see who my fellow Texans are. Doesn't matter if you're a native or you're "naturalized" or even if you still live in Texas. If you're a Texan, you'll know it. [:D] Just tell us a little bit about yourself and where you're from, etc.

I was born in Dallas and lived in the Dallas/Forth Worth area for most of my life until I was almost 40 years old. I now live in Colorado due to my husband's job, but I will be a Texan no matter where I go. [:D]

I was born in Anchorage, AK. But we moved to San Antonio when I was 3, so I am not a Texan by birth, but a 37 yr Texan none the less.

I love it here, the riverwalk, the Spurs (duh)....and even on occasion the heat.

born and raised in houston, college in east texas (nacogdoches -- go jacks!), dallas now.

my favorite city is austin, but i'm enjoying dallas alot!

Is that SFK University in Nac? My sister graduated from there a couple years ago. She lives in Lufkin with her family.

I've been in texas for over a dozen years now, about half my life. I like it a lot here near Houston, despite the heat and humdity.

I love San Antonio! My mom lived there for three years, and I thorougly enjoyed visiting her. Go Spurs!!

I like PARTS of Houston, but being from Dallas, I could never say I LIKE Houston. LOL!!

Texan born and bred! I was born in Dallas, and my father was a pastor in several rural cities up in the panhandle. Most of my family, immediate and extended currently live in Dallas. I live in Great Britain now because my husband is British, but I'll always be a Texan at heart.

i graduated from sfa in '01 and '02. i have a ba in english/psych and a med in sped. thanks for remembering, lisa!

i like parts of houston...the parts where my family lives ;).

I knew that's where you and Brian graduated from, but I couldn't remember when you graduated.

brian graduated in 2003.

i'm older than he is -- the same is true from his parents and my parents.

My Brian was born in Texas. He lived in Texarkana until he was 13 or 14. He still has a funny accent, but not nearly so bad as when we met. I couldn't understand half of what he said then! [:D] He still considers himself from TX and even earned the nickname "Tex" in high school. Some people still call him that. I tell them, "His name is BRIAN!" LOL

Hey Fellow Texans!! I was born and raised in LaMarque (small town before you get to Galveston). I spent alot of my time in Galveston at the beach and walking the seawall. I sure do miss it. I live in AL. now, occasionally I get a chance to go back home to visit all of my family. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother and all their families back there. I too will always call myself a Texan!! my nickname was Tex-Mex! [:D]

When I was a child, I wanted to run away to Texas. I was living in Tampa at the time. Born in Washington, D.C. transplanted to Florida when I was 4 yrs old. Loved to hear something good about the people and the state, beside we have a president from there.

answer something for me...

is florida really humid? it seems like it would be -- being bordered by water on 3! sides. it seems like it would be hotter there, too. is it?

texans go to florida for vacation, and east/southern texas are two of the hottest, muggiest places in the states (occuring simultaneously) and it just seems to me that florida would be more of both.

so, whats the draw? i hear its the immaculate beaches?

I'm a Nawth Calinian born & bred, but have visited TX & have family there. Just wondering after the mention of Nacogdoches, I heard that it is the oldest TX city. Is that accurate? God bless TX & all you Texans with it![:D]

I don't think so, although that's been bandied about for years. There are so many Spanish towns further south that I would consider older, and who also claim to be the oldest. LOL!!

I was born in Odessa; we moved to Corpus Christi when I was about 10 mo. old til I was about 13; then we moved to Taylor, outside of Austin, and then to a very little town near Taylor called Coupland (population under 200 when we were there); then we moved to Houston (culture shock after coming from such a small town) when I was about 15; then my folks moved out to an area between Spring and Humble when I was in college. Now I live in SC and have for most of the last 25 years.

i'm not sure why nac is labeled as the "oldest town in texas." if it really was the oldest, wouldn't it have grown more, lol?

the name "nacogdoches" is a native american word, and there is an ancient fort on the campus...i'm wondering if thats part of the billing?

I used to say "Does anything good come out of Texas?" but now my favorite Niece lives there.

So now it's "Texas is such a wonderful place!!!"

It's from a video game called Grim Fandango, at one point the main character needs to scare away some pidgeons to be able to retrieve their eggs (so the chicks can be raised as carrier pidgeons). One of the items you can obtain is a balloon "animal" in the shape of Robert Frost, if you try and use the balloon on the pidgeons, the character says that line. It's just so absurd it's funny. I kind of like confusing people. I'll post what news info I can find about the power outage in the thread I started in Prayer and Praise Reports.

I'll bet you've seen a HUGE change in that area between Spring and Humble. That used to be "out of town.' LOL!

I marvel when I go back to Dallas/Fort Worth.
