Ah I'm so glad you guys posted in here today..
We went to a shop yesterday that had a TON of different carriers/wraps etc.
I picked up a demo Moby and OH MY WORD that's ALOT of fabric. I may go to one of the wrapping classes and see how they all differ. If you are pre-child they have some dolls you can use. Of course hubby saw said dolls and turned all their heads backwards.
Anyway.. I really want a Moby but need to check out the class on it and get some hands on experience.

btw, if you want some wrapping tips on here I had posted a whole post about different ways to do different ones. I will find it again.....if you want me to....it was video clips of different holds with the different carriers. Very informative!!!! Anyway, I am off for the night, but if you want me to find it again somewhere in this thread I will do that for you tomorrow.

that's why I tie mine different then the typical way....I can do it without it being on the ground.
also when I take it off, I leave it in the three rings and can sometimes put it back on without having to retie it....if I hang it on the seat and no one messes with it....if it falls I have to retie it though.

I finally figured out the hip tie. I re-read over and over Sarah's directions and looked at my printout, and couldn't figure it out. So, I decided to look on the internet for "moby hip tie" and I found a NZ site that had them with pictures. It's super easy. Jimmy seems to like it too. He started to not like the front facing out way anymore, and I'm not ready to tie him on my back yet.

Sarah, if you have the directions for a way to tie it without hitting the ground, I'd like to see it. I don't know if you had posted that before or not. I figured that if I wanted to use it I would just tie it on before leaving the house and just wear it in the car and then put the baby in when I get to my destination.

check post #419 I believe.....that should be it. The way I tie it doesn't drag the ground cause I hold the length of it in my right hand and whip it around the different ways from just one side, so it doesn't drag the ground.

Erin - I got my k'tan! It seemed a bit big until I washed and dried it. Right now I'm wearing it, but I know it's not the correct way - and I like it. I'm sure I'll like it even more once I am using the cradle hold in the way it should be. I can't wait to have my arms and hands back!

I don't have my own kids, but I do have my "babies". Anyway, one of the kids is 3 and she was pretty tired by the end of the day. I was so wishing that I had some type of wrap to help hold her as I needed my hands to tie somebody else's shoes. Then awhile later, I was holding an 18 month old and I needed both of my hands free, but of course one was holding the baby. So, I decided today that I will wear my babies/younger children because of wanting my hands free.

I got my Beco in the mail!!! It is SO awesome!
Gabby seems to really like the back carry, and I too except she also loves to pull my hair 
Beth, you could make what is called a SPOC(simple piece of cloth) wrap out of crinkle cotton or muslin. A woven fabric is more recommended for older kids then a knit one.

Oh, get a Beco, I totally recommend them!
In the beginning I used my Baby K'tan around the house and TONS in public for nursing. Now I mainly wear Gabby for walks and shopping. It's much easier to have her on my back at the grocery store then in the cart, and I figure it will be helpful when I have a second baby since most carts are to small for an infant and a toddler.
I got fabric for a woven wrap this weekend, they are more highly recommended for babies over 15lbs and I think I like it way more then I would a Moby. Jersey knit is so thick feeling and the crinkle cotton type fabric I bought is so light and airy, it feels wonderful.

I would say it is, they run around $135-140, but I bought mine from a vendor who had some "seconds" for $105. There isn't anything wrong with it that I can tell, other then the Beco label isn't quite straight. The vendor I purchased from is Frog Mama, she is a wonderful Christian lady.
Oh, even the older models of Beco's are selling for nearly full price 3-4 years later, so they definitely hold their value.

Got our Moby the other day and yesterday saw a coworkers wife using a similar wrap and got to talk to her about it.
So tonight I got out a stuffed lamb, baby size-ish and wrapped it up.
Kangaroo was esp comfy and I think will be a favorite of ours.
Can't wait to actually have a baby to put in it, and not just a stuffed animal!

with me (and with little one) it is the most comfy position too...but I don't tie it the same way (it ends up the same in the end, I just don't do it the same). You may find though that you are better at it after you don't have your belly to contend with.
