When we bought our current house nearly 22 years ago, one of the things I really liked about it was that not only could the kids run a circle through the main floor, they could do a figure 8. There were many times I chased them just for the fun of it. Like Ben and his heat keeping him inside, the cold here where I live makes it difficult to take one's rambunctiousness outside on a whim. Ever try to get four little kids bundled in snowpants, jackets, mitts, hats, scarves and boots? It takes longer than the time they'll spend outside and once they get there, the snow can be deeper than they are tall. Nope! Running was definitely allowed and encouraged in this household.

Growing up, I lived in a two storey house. We were forever being told off for running up and down the stairs, or sliding down the bannister rail.

lol Maggs :) I suppose if I lived someplace where cold and snow kept them housebound for days on end, I would have been less strict about that...maybe

When the girls were 8 and 12 we moved into a house with wood floors. They discovered that if they put socks on just after I polished it, they could slip and slide around. When they got in trouble for running in the house, Britt asked how could it be running when both feet were always on the floor

Trish, I cringe to think of Britt growing up in a house with stairs or a banister

Maybe someday it will work out and you can. She's a great girl...very easy to get to know and with a great sense of humor. We're all missing her terribly right now.

Wassa matter? Y'all worried about splinters on that banister?

Becky called yesterday, upset about her place in Kayla's other g'pa's house. Her and the boy do not get along, and she's worried that she is going to be asked to leave. With only a few weeks left of school before she gets a CNA license, her options are few, come back to Texas or see if her brother will put her up. I don't think she'll be asked to leave ... yet anyway. We told her that she has to have the money for a car before she could come back here, so she could have the ability to work. Staying with her brother makes more sense, right in town with buses to get to a job and more classes that she says she wants to take.

Anyway, this led to a discussion about Lynn's and my prayers. She is asking for Him to present the opportunity to return to Calif, would be good for Kayla to be near her mom and other family in addition to being closer to our families. I told her that I ask for His will in all this to be done, for peace about our being where we are to prevail. Many of you remember the struggle I/we went through back in 2002, wondering if it was His will that we leave Calif and head out into the unknown. I believe it was Brandy who pointed out that if it wasn't in His will, many obsticals would have arisen, but since it all went so smooth that it did seem His will that we move. And in retrospect, with the allegations about Kayla's dad coming out, I know He had a hand in that.

Anyway, it seems that there is no peace for Lynn. She describes her life the past three years as being in that hot place, seems to feel that all would be good again if we were back in Calif. Short of our winning the lottery, that's not possible. She says she has assurances from God that we will be able to go back.

The thing is though...I don't want to go back there. I like where we are and want to retire from this place and then see about getting a RV and traveling, of course visiting Calif much also.

{{{{Ben}}}}}

It's hard to be so divided on issues like that, and even harder sometimes to know what God's plan is. I'll keep you both, and the situation in prayer. I pray that whatever His plan is, that He makes it so clear to both of you and that His peace will replace any question or doubt. Hang in there!

It's easy to look at the past and think how much better it was. Even the Isrealites did that after leaving slavery in Egypt. God's not going to tell you one thing and Lynn another so if you both keep seeking His will and ask for those open and closed doors to send you in the right direction, I'm convinced He will. (Says she who's just had a huge door slammed shut in her face.)
