ORIGINAL: Fwanger Kara is awesome, and I like how she teased Clark about not being able to fly yet. She's kind of a jerk, though. "This is what happens when you touch my stuff!" I guess it runs in the family, though. Not just Kal and Kara's parents, but Superman and Supergirl have a long history of acting like jerks and destroying stuff. I'd link to a site with proof, but it's main premise of "Superman is a jerk" uses a vulgarity in place of "jerk", which would be a violation of TOS.

In actuality I guess, her & Clark are the closest things to siblings that they can have I suppose. It'll be interesting to see where they take her character on the show.

Smallville is no longer a part of my life. When Lexana died a horrible and gruesome death, I gave up on the show completely, never forgiving the writers for their cruelty and lies. They did promise, several times, that the Clana would be gone forever! No such luck. Still, the first seasons are cute and I'll go back and watch them once in awhile.

Well, we'll find out, if she still knows Clark's secret than it's normal Lana. It also insinuated that she stole $10 million dollars from Lex. I also wish they would figure out what to do with Chloe. She seems to be just taking up space on the show anymore.

Chloe should become some kind a superhero or at least have some kind of cool power after she was brought back to life. Where's Jimmy Olsen been?

There's a Q & A about Smallville on tvguide.com today - with executive producer Al Gough. Warning - if you're fed up with Lana, reading this will possibly cause you to gag. Here's a sample: The fact is, Clark loves Lana, and that is one of the central relationships of the show. She is that crucial first relationship that helps define him and his future relationships with women. The fact that he screws it up so badly, no matter how hard he tries, is one of the reasons he ends up with Lois.

ORIGINAL: doinkdom Is that how the comic tells it? Not the comics I've read. My impression of Clark's relationship with Lana, in the comics, is that they were very happily high school sweethearts, best friends with Pete Ross, and that they broke up when everyone went off to college (Clark dated the mermaid Lori Lemaris during college! ) Then, after college Clark travels the world finding himself, and returns to be a journalist at the Daily Planet, getting the job by scooping Lois Lane with a Superman story. I'm not sure when Clark gets back in touch with Lana, but by that point she's married Pete Ross, but has also figured out that Clark is Metropolis's new hero, Superman. In the comics there was no ongoing tension of a failed relationship between them, at least not during the era I've read from. But that's from reading comics before Zero Hour, and whatever more recent universal ret-cons have happened in DC comics. It's possible the Superman backstory has been re-written to match up with Smallville (it certainly wouldn't be the first time Superman's history changed.)

Apparently this most recent episode had two purposes: 1. to show off Supergirl in a bikini. 2. to make me even more sick of Lana. (oh, yeah, there was growing tension between Jimmy and Chloe, but that was so heavy handed it was pathetic.) Please, no more episodes like this!

I'm thankful then that I missed 3/4 of it. I caught the beginning up until Kara destroyed the watermelon and then went to eat dinner and missed most of the rest of it.

She spent a lot of time building her "Wall of Weird" and seeing just how dangerous meteor freaks have been, and now Jimmy is on that bandwagon, just as Chloe wants to get off.

I am WAY behind on my Smallville. Saw last season's finale (and still didn't get what Lex was hiding from Lana, or why she was marrying him in the first place) and haven't seen a single episode this season. Help me catch up!

ARGH!!!!! no, No, NO, No, No, NO, NOOOOOOOO! I'm tempted to call this the worst episode ever!!!! Not because the plot was particularly terrible, though it was mediocre at best, but because they ruined a good character to get a mediocre plot! Dean Cain is NOT Vandal Savage. Even if the writers didn't intend him to be, they still made the character too similar to Savage in backstory, but they totally got the characterization wrong. Vandal Savage is sophisticated, suave, cold, calculating, manipulative and more. Dean Cain was smiley, juvenile, unprepared, unthinking, brutish and, worst of all, a short-term thinker acting alone. For those who aren't familiar with Vandal Savage from the comics (or from some brilliant episodes of Justice League Unlimited). Savage is an immortal who is over 50,000 years old, mutated by a strange meteorite and given a brilliant intellect, among other changes alongside immortality. (Yeah, it stretches even the limits of comic-book credibility, but back-stories aren't important.) The important part of the character of Vandal Savage is his amazing competence at all things. Savage has been the puppet-master behind a dozen different empires. He has spent all of his years striving to be the best at everything, and despite having little more than human strength and speed, he is more than a match for the entire Justice League. In the comics he's taken down four Teen Titans without even moving from where he stood, when they interrupted an arms deal. That's Supergirl, Tempest (formerly Aqualad), Arsenal (formerly Speedy, Green Arrow's sidekick) and Jesse Quick (one-time heir apparent to be Flash IV), all without them laying a single hand on him. Vandal Savage is more cunning and manipulative than both Luthors combined, and there is no way that he would have been performing the operation without assitance, or at least armed guards at the door. I think that the worst moment was when he came after Clark with an axe and ended up hitting his own equipment! ARGH! No, I don't buy that he was blinded by love, because that would have just made Savage plan just that more meticulously, leaving nothing to chance. There is no way that the writers should have allowed Vandal Savage to make such a poor showing of himself. A great villain, ruined. This is worse than what Batman Begins did to Ra's Al Ghul. That was forgiveable because the movie was good. Sure, wasting Ra's without ever introducing his daughter Talia was a crime, but at least he was still a villain to be feared, and a match for Batman. Dean Cain wasn't ever a threat to Clark, there was no suspense, no feeling that Clark couldn't possibly match wits with a genius who is thousands of years old. C'mon, Clark has had more suspense in being overwhelmed by Lionel Luthor's manipulations. If Clark were up against Vandal Savage, he should have been shocked at how prepared Savage was, even though Savage didn't know about Clark specfically. (Obviously he knew about meteor powers, why wouldn't he be prepared if Chloe had a meteor-infected friend trying to rescue her?) *sigh* Sorry for the long rant, but for all the other bad things that Smallville has done, this one struck me as one of the worst. Vandal Savage was so well done in the JLU two-part episode "Hereafter", and the three-part "The Savage Time" was pretty decent too. I just hate to see how Smallville ruined him.

In short: Clark is still Clark. Supergirl/Kara is Clark's cousin, of uncertain loyalties since her father may have tried Clark's father, despite them being brothers. Lana is alive, to the world as well, and is living with Clark on the farm. Lois is a world traveling reporter for the Daily Planet, thanks to new management. Chloe is not the shining-star at the Daily Planet anymore, and is becoming ever more freaked out by her meteor infected status. Jimmy is all too eager to track down meteor freaks, and can't be sensitive to Chloe's status because she won't tell him. Maritain Manhunter has shown up a lot, and he and Supergirl don't get along, at all. Martha Kent is... er, well, where is she? Did she die or something? Biggest ongoing plot point: Kara's missing crystal. Did I catch everything?

So, who rescued Lionel? I thought Martian Manhunter was head honcho of the Justice League, but I didn't know he knew Clark pre-superman days.

ORIGINAL: doinkdom I thought Martian Manhunter was head honcho of the Justice League, but I didn't know he knew Clark pre-superman days. I don't know that he ever did in the comic books. The two do share quite a bond, though, both being the last survivors of their respective civilizations and aliens on earth. They also both face the prospect of living long enough to out-live people they love and care for. MM is already quite old, in the comics at least, and both he and Supes will live much longer than humans. In the comics they've both survived into the 853rd century in one major time travel story arc. In the comics, Superman did know quite a few heroes during his younger days, but since his adventures as Superboy, with the Legion of Superheroes (having traveled through time to get there), is currently being covered Saturday morninings on Kid's WB, I think it's safe to say we won't have to deal with Bouncing Boy or Matter-eater Lad. *whew* I'm still holding out hope that Clark will get some lessons on how to be a hero from some older figure, like the Guardian or a re-imagined Gangbuster. Sure, Green Arrow and Smallville's version of the Justice League has kind of been a call to greater things, but he's just a young hero himself.

So what is Chloe's power? Healing??? Why is she just so freaked out by it - it's not like her skin has scales or her eyes pop out. I was sad for her and Jimmy - I guess that opens the door for Kara.
