God is Sovereign... His word declares it so...

Deuteronomy 3:24 O Lord God, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

2 Samuel 22:31-34 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God?
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.

Psalms 33:11 The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Psalms 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Isaiah 43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Isaiah 48:13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?

Daniel 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Psalms 135:6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Psalms 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Genesis 41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Isaiah 41:26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

Isaiah 43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

Isaiah 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

Isaiah 48:3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

John 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Isaiah 48:22 There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.

I've been looking for the places where Doveflight has posted to pass on the news:

Dove died May 27, 2009.

Her brother sent me the following message, asking me to pass it on to those who knew her:

quote:

To the friends of Doveflyte from her family.

Doveflyte, our sister Diane, went to be with her Lord Wednesday morning, May 27 2009.
We hope her strength and inspiration on her journey in life benefited you as much as it did us.

Please pass this on to others in this folder that may have known her.

Thank you.

I forgot to add: I will be sending a card to her children next Wednesday. If there is anyone who would like a message from them added to the card, or just your name, let me know before then and I will include it.

Praise the Lord, Dove is home and without pain... May God comfort those left behind with the knowledge she was a child of the King...

I didn't know her well, but I read her posts and various updates on her health and her homeschooling situation.

I pray the Lord will comfort her children and family and that her faith will always be a reminder to them that the Lord can be trusted. Her trust in God was inspiring.

I am sad for her family and friends, but happy for her that her body is healed and she is experiencing great joy with the Father!

Hi all!
I came by to check in, as I do every couple of years, and say hello. Wierd that I was wondering if Dove was still with us, and to find that she had just died. UGH! My stomach hurts,I feel so sad for her family! What a strong woman of faith she was 'til the end.
Eddie still around?

I too am sorry for her family who will miss her, although I am confident that she has finally found the rest and joyful worship of God that the Lord's day pictures for us.

I've got a question for any of you CRC people. I'm not sure if any RCA churches do this or not.

When we do combined services with the local CRC churches (we're RCA), part of the service is referred to as "God's Greeting" - you know, the salutation blessing thingy at the beginning of the service. Our church calls it the Salutation.

My question is, what is the reasoning behind calling it "God's Greeting"? I get that it's a blessing/greeting taken from Scripture and says something like, "grace, peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" so in a way it's from God. But to my non-Reformed thinking, calling it God's Greeting implies that God has to do is greeting of me through the minister, and that I'm being greeted by someone (God) who I haven't been around for a while. This rubs me wrong because to my non-Reformed thinking, God has been with me and communicating to me already, so I don't need that "mediator" to tell me He greets me, and I don't really need a "greeting" at all.

I hope I've made myself understandable. Any insight into this?

(For the record, I married into a traditional Reformed church about 3.5 years ago. Before that I was a member of a more contemporary Baptist church. So there have been some definite adjustments and questionings going on.)

Heaven welcomes another good and faithful servant in Dove..I weep tears of joy for her soul and greive tears of sadness for her family for I know she will be missed here among them.

ta:

I can understand your concern particularly about the issue of mediation. The minister is not trying to (or at least shouldn't be trying to) be a mediator between God and man. Instead, the minister is proclaiming God's blessing to those who come in faith to worship him. There certainly is risk of it being taken as though the minister were himself a mediator of some sort, but that is not the intent of that particular aspect of the service.

Personally, I prefer that it be called the "call to worship," for it is clear that it is the minister's responsibility to call people to worship the Lord God.

Coffee comin' up. Espresso or regular? Cappuccino?

Thing is, though, you might find it downright boring in here: not much going on in here lately.

Enjoy!

I was just looking over the first 5 pages of this thread. There are some interesting and informative posts, but what struck me are the number of posters that seem to have abandoned the forum or were sidelined.

will good morning everyone!

Most of June here in high dessert has been wet! Today is beautiful! Out the window i see the snow capped mountains. All the wonderfull shades of green. The horses are in the next field nipping and snorting. The creek is running. Fence lines are bright yellow with the wild roses. God has blessed us with the most beautiful place in His creation! Will some one please explain why O WHY did He create mosquitoes!

That's on my list of questions for heaven, for sure. That and flies, scorpions, etc.

I am celebrating Calvin's 500th by purchasing a large addition to my Libronix Logos Bible study library.

How are you celebrating?
