1999: That was the year of the columbine shooting. I finished my first year of college that year.

It was a boringish year for me, to be honest.

Party like it's 1999?

That was the year I found forums!
Oh wow!

Kath, we're going to hafta have a 10-year anniversary party for you next year!

Trish, I had a hysterectomy in 2001; it was part of a triple surgery. My recuperation and recovery is, in fact, what led me to the forums.

I had a similar experience (not a triple hysterectomy). My back was injured two year ago and I was poking around the Singing News website and found this Forum.

Awed: Thanks for sending the Samatar. I have now learned to "capture" pictures.

That was the year that a certain company that I'm familiar with happened to wake up and realize that they just might have a very serious Y2K issue...followed by panic and mayhem.

Isn't it cool how Our Lord used our recuperation times to bring us here and meet all these wonderful people?!!

And when I came here in 2004, it was right after my oopherectomy (cool word, huh? removal of an ovary and tube is what it was).

I came here in May 2001 after using the Crosswalk website for a year and finally wondering what forums were. For me, this place has been a gift from God and I'm very grateful he brought me here.

I came in around 2000, too. A friend told me to check out the web site. The first thread I read was Kimmie's GTGT journal. I lurked for a couple of weeks before attempting my first post.

I had a CW email address in 1999 or 2000. I don't remember what part of the school year I got it. In December I posted in the forums under clenger, then quit posting because I said somethign stupid and thought everyone would remember me and not like me. Summer of 2001 I came back because I was really bored at my job. I created a new account so I could have a cooler handle than what my email address was. I've been christsstar forever. Haven't changed it once. I thought about changing it briefly, but didn't; Shar-Mar changed hers briefly then couldn't get her original name back, so she had to modify it slightly. I didn't want that to happen.

I was 13 in 1999 and hadn't found the forums yet. I started in forums January 31, 2001.

Man, you've got a good memory!

Just out of curiosity, what was my original name? I truly don't know.

Sounds like something you'd find at a German festival!

I first ventured into forums back in the fall of 2000. I was such a newbe back then! This was the first forum that I had ever posted in, and lurked for a good 6 weeks before making my first posting! I remember Kimberly, Specky, Abiyah, Karlie, Kath, Valsa and of course Daryll being among the first people who I noticed here!

I miss her too.

I first remember Sharon.

I had lurked for over 3 months before finally registering.

Then I started posted and then decided it wasn't for me. HA!
(Of course I continued to lurk)

A couple / few weeks after I stopped posting, Sharon started a thread specifically asking about me.

That totally blew me out of the water.

I sat at my computer and bawled like a baby.

you were whiteroseblessings .... all lowercase. (I was going to type "no capitals," but I don't know if it's capital or capitol ... so I opted for lowercase....)

You also joined in the summer of 2001 Shar-Mar. I you were nick-named Shar-Mar in chat one night because we were too lazy to type Sharon-Marie.

Yep, Christine . . . June of 2001 . . . 4 months (not 3 as I had said earlier) after I had the triple surgery. I first found out about y'all in February of '01 while recuperating from the surgeries.

Who was the first one to name me Shar Mar? You? I knew it was because of the length of Sharon-Marie.

Oh, and I do remember my name being all lowercase (no capitals). That threw me for a loop this afternoon, because I thought you meant a totally different name and I was thinking, "I'm sure I started out as WRB" (spelled out). LOL

Thanks, Maggie.

It wasn't a sad bawl; more like an incredulous one.

I'm very prone to crying when something unexpectedly good happens, especially when it's something I really needed and was sure the opposite was true or would happen.

Tonight I watched...for the umpteenth time...the end of Sister Act II as the youth of St Francis won the Music competition thus allowing the school to stay open.

Then proceeded to watch Dateline about "The Comic Book" murder.
