Well, I am posting my first blog on here. It won't be big as I am just getting it started.

I am 35 year old single soldier in Iraq and hating it. I am from a small town in Mississippi. Traveled the world as a merchant marine. plan on living in Maine one day and working as a nurse.

Going to try this once a week.

lots of stuff happened this week. I started back lifting weights, and a good friend came back from surgery in states. got a lot of stuff I splurged on with amazon in the mail. woohoo. some cd's and dvd's. unfortunately the cd/dvd burner in my laptop died the ugly death so am going to order me one off of amazon now.

found out I need more sleep than I am getting nowadays. that and cant wait to get back to the states.

had a long talk on phone with my family this week and got a lot of issues settled.

on a brighter note. NFL kicks off pre-season in 5 count em 5 days. Go Steelers

Well things have been a bit hectic here with just life in general (( a lot of just missing home)). I currently am enjoying some good music and movies have gotten in mail recently. some things are going to change in my life with some things that sadly I can't write about.

I do hate the fact every day it seems our internet goes down. but oh well, thats what happens being stuck in a war torn country.

I had a big surprise recently on myspace. my cousin found me and we now message each other. is nice to talk to her online now as I have missed her a lot. we grew up about 100 miles apart and saw each other only in the summers when family got together.

hmmm. current reads:

1) the Bible of course.
2) The Barbarian Way by McManus (( I read this book over and over. simply amazing amazing book.))
3) Hiking in Maine (( I love to hike, am planning on moving to Maine, what a combo))

current cd's in rotation

1) Lifesong by Casting Crowns
2) Your Man by Josh Turner
3) Blur The Lines by The Crabb Family
4) Personal Files by Johnny Cash
5) Alone And Forsaken by Hank Williams

yes is both Christian and Country

current movies been watching

1) Pathfinder
2) Stroker Ace
3) Hooper
4) Shooter

current tv show been into

am watching all the seasons of ER. I am up to season 8.

God bless and keep the soldiers in your prayers.

wow. 5 days. I think I set a record. LOL. j/k.

ok where to begin.

things have been hectic here. have been up a lot doing fantasy football pics. hey am too poor to own one but this way heck, I own 7 teams now. is funny they loaded with Steelers. Kinda my thing being a die-hard Steelers fan since the 70's.

got into an arguement with someone on another message board. he lied to a friend and hurt her pretty bad with the lie. i think of all that got onto him, mine was probly the worst. i definately spent some time in prayer. guess my chivalry defense of mess with me all you want i don't care. cross family or friends or worse my pet and it's on.

been getting big-time into my college now. really hammering in some class time.

have slowly started studying spanish a little at a time. want to learn a foreign language so why not go after one that is heavily spoken in the USA now.

movies--- well seen a few. have gotten now down to 5 more and will be watched the Bond filmography for who knows how many times.

have started getting back into ER.

saw the UFC PPV and was cheering Catour on. gotta cheer on a 44 year old soundly defeating guy nearly half his age.

well, gotta go fer now. 11 am and I am tired.

God bless

Joey

well time for another round of my ramblings and rants and raves, gripes complaints and praises. wow is that a mouthful or what? try typing it out.

Been going on a couple missions here and there. not much going on there at all.

I have been working on my college classes as well as taking some correspondence courses through the army.

How about the Tide. 52-6 over Western Carolina. Go Tide.

I have been learning about 4-5 words a day in spanish and also working on some grammar.

Last night we watched the Simpsons movie for movie night. Loved it. To me it showed the Simpson family pulling together and bonding. a classy movie.

still watching ER and have one more season to go. next up, well ain't sure yet. Maybe Rome or Jericho.

music wise.

been listening to Newsboys and Rebecca St. James and Rachael Lampa a lot lately.

country wise, always will listen to Hank Sr and Hank III. Been listening to a lot of Rex Hobart & The Misery Boys and Dale Watson.

not a lot going on this morning. almost finished with ER season 12. next for me will be Rome seasons 1 & 2. I have a feeling I will love this series. haven't seen a single episode yet.

Just watched a video on Alabama and Auburn football rivalry. very good done but could have had a lot more stuff on the best rivalry in any sport.

saw in an email that Aaron & Amanda Crabb will have a cd out next week. I am definately wanting that cd. it is going on my cd wishlist.

last night didn't listen to much music. I did listen to some old SG and also some music by Johnny Cash.

am making plans for a fishing trip next year.

gtg for now.

Lets see whats on the agenda.

How about fact stuck in iraq. wow. temps been hovering in 140 degree daily.

people kinda wonder why i want to come back here. i have some reasons. one is money of course. all the extra bonus money added on and tax free. makes for good good income tax returns. especially this year. 12 months of no income claimed. thinking should with earned income bring home maybe 5K in tax return. not too shabby.

the main reason is in the rear just cover occasional field problem and occasional range. here is where i earn my keep. my job title unofficially is combat medic not nose wiper.

not much else going on.

current studies.

school-- still taking Human Sexuality and Basic Nutrition... knocking them electives down cause next class set is two required courses.

studying a section a day for board. learning maybe 5-6 questions a day.

still studying spanish words and grammar. just dont quiz me yet. LOL.

movie wise. I picked up a few new movies and can't wait to watch them when I finish this season of ER.

book wise... of course reading Bible. and Barbarian Way. the other book am reading is Come Thirsty by Max Lucado. about to start it so can't give opinion on it yet.

Bible study am on is--- Becoming a student of God's word by Max Lucado.

Epic by John Eldredge is one I will highly recommend.

hmm. music time

am listening to a mix cd made by a friend in Saginaw, Michigan who teaches english in high school and runs a blog reviewing cd's.
this cd is about whats wrong with Nashville country today.

SG wise-- Imperials by Imperials
Blur The Lines-- Crabb Family
All- Time Favorites-- Kingsmen

CCM
R.I.O.T.--- Carman
Dying For A Heart-- Krystal Meyers
aLIVE in Florida-- Rebecca St. James
Blessed-- Rachael Lampa

not really much else going on.

gonna add a prayer request section to my blog.

1-9 Batallion
My family
lil girl named Katelyn in Belfair, Washington. her mom is as close a friend i have in this world. this girl is going to be someone special in God's work. keep her in your prayers.
a friend here from Va. his mom is dying and he is having to be the strong one in his family even though here. he talks a lot to me and I am bringing it to the people here.
all the soldiers injured in OIF and OEF.
The families of the wounded and perished soldiers.

Thank you and God bless all of you.

ok am settled somewhat in the new post.

I like the guys I am working with now overall. a few have some issues with but am no longer needing pills to control temper so praying and fact kinda less stressed is helping.

this past weekend was half scared out of my wits most of the days. we were in a town a distance from where am now. this town has a spring in it that is written of in the old testament. wish could have gotten pics but pics are out of me "playing" in the muddy overflow stream.(( kinda busted me bottom sliding in mud))

the town though could have been a lot worse than it was. only a couple shots fired. (( my buddy did kill a dog that attacked him))

other than that, someone has went after the cd wishlist of mine with buying them. the person really shocked me and when i can think more clearly on it, i will respond to the pm. next time am on i will be.

God bless all.

mostly movie wise been watching some tv shows and movies and music been listening to Jimmy Buffett's new one and Bob Segar's new one along with some Bluegrass and SG. as always Luke Stricklin and Josh Turner are played by me constantly.

college is almost done but not taking any more till I get back to the states.

can't wait to get home.

Joey

Well it has been a few days since I have written here so I figure why not give it another shot.

First off is this news. I have decided to make the army a career and retire in the service. I am 35 years old and have did a lot of praying. I feel Godd wanted me in Maine at first but after much fasting and praying I have come to the conclusion that He wants me in the military. It is all falling into place. I am re-enlisting for 4 more years which gives me a total of 10 years in when I get ready to re-enlist again. I will be stationed at Fort Rucker in SE Alabama. I will be working in the emergency room there at the base clinic.

now to other news. been doing a lot of missions lately. wish they would stop but hey I signed the contract so won't complain.

now to vent a little. we have been discussing a lot about the people who join the military then cry that they dont want to be in a war situation. I am finishing up my third tour here in 5 years and not complaining about it. I love the position I have in the military. if you don't want to fight in a war, don't ever join the military. it comes with the job you sign on for. don't cower out. I am reminded of a lil sign here. except for slavery, genocide, and nazism, war hasn't solved much.

now for my top 40 of the last few weeks. I am going strictly with Southern Gospel this week.

1. When I Get Carried Away -- Gold City
2. They'll Never Crucify Him Again -- The Greene's

15. Campmeeting Medley -- Called Out Quartet
16. That's How I Got Saved -- The Duvall Family
17. Run To Jesus -- New Desire
18. Little David -- Total Praise Quartet

well I made it home and have been enjoying life in small town Mississippi.

I made a day trip with my dad to Montgomery, Al to visit a friend off the board here ((QTMan)) and had lunch of some fine Hamburger Steak. We went to Hank Willliams SR's grave and to his museum.

I have now a custom made guitar and a custom made fiddle. can't wait to be tearing on the fiddle when I learn to play it.

well I am back in Colorado Springs. saturday it kinda felt like herew. Saturday morning in Mississippi was snowing. I flew into here tonight and guess what, snowing. but am full((( large papa johns pizza)) and ready to blog.

I went to see some fine concerts over last two weekends.

I have my fiddle and guitar with me and going to spend at least 30 minutes daily learning to play each. I plan on starting a Southern Gospel quartet when I get to Alabama and am beginning to look into buyin g the equipment I will be needing. I spoke in the Southern Gospel folder of fasting. I have felt God drawing me to a ministry of music in a group and I spent several days and still doing it fasting and praying seeking His guidance in this decision. I feel with things falling into place that it is His will that I do this.

I hope all had a pleasnat and great new years. and look for more ramblings about my life here.

cd in heavy play by me?

Cherryholmes II: Black And White

Why Iraq is important to Christians?

VERY INTERESTING-

1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is inIraq !

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11 Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem

12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq !

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq
also as the fourth person in the Fiery Furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq ..

17. The wise men were from Iraq ..

18. Peter preached in Iraq

19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which
was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one: Israel is the nation most often
mentioned in the Bible.

But do you know which nation is second?

It is Iraq !

However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible.

The names used in the Bible areBabylon , Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia The
word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between
the Tigris And Euphrates Rivers .

The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country
in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel , has more history and prophecy associated

With it than Iraq

And also, This is something to think about: Since America is typically
represented by an eagle.

Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran ( 9:11 ) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a
fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the
lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more
rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; And there was peace.

(Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!

well it is another day or so.

I am done with yet another week in the army. We are taking it slow and not doing much. just been doing some easy work. actually I haven't done much all week work wise.

I plan on going to see the movie Rambo shortly and I can't wait to watch it. I just finished over the last two days or so the movies My Cousin Vinny and The Kingdom. Both of those movies are favorites of mine.

Last cd I bought was Amy Grant's Greatest Hits. I held her in judgement a long time over her personal life but I overcome that spirit and have moved on.

I am currently into seriously to begin building the cd discography of Vanessa-Mae and Bond. I love Classical music.

the cd's I been playing in heavy rotation currently are the following:

Acappella - Travelling Shoes
Acappella - Conquerers
Hillsong - Savior King
Austin's Bridge - Austin's Bridge
Hopper's - Great Day
Cherryholmes - Black & White
Kenny Chesney - Just Who I Am Poets & Pirates

steppi9ng away from the threads for a while. I might hop onto here to post on my blogs or I might not. but people tend to argue when they only read certain parts of a post and I get tired of seeing it. I see arguements daily among my soldiers and when I turn online I don't need to see more drama. no hard feelings to anyone but I don't need to see that.

God bless all and we will see each other one day to throw our crowns at the feet of the One called Alpha and Omega.
