Hey y'all, just wanted to let you know the procedure I had for my fibroids went well - I was discharged from the hospital last Friday and I have an appt Nov. 5 for the doctor to see how I'm doing and if the procedure worked. Please pray that it does! It would be such a disappointment to go through all that and then still have the bleeding.

Thanks for the update kitty, will be praying that the procedure took care of everything.

Is being forgetful and a little "fuzzy-headed" one aspect of perimenopause? I find myself feeling that way every now and then over the past few years.

Today, in specific, I was so embarrassed by my forgetfulness. I had arranged a get-together with three former roommates; we all shared a house years ago. One lady had a baby a month ago, so two of us planned to drive to see her, and then I notified the fourth out-of-state woman that we'd try to call her from the new mom's home. I thought I had all the arrangements made -- the time for roommate #1 to meet me to drive to see roommate #2, and then the time roommate #3 would be waiting for our phone call. It was only when I was about to leave my home that I realized I'd never told the new mom what time we were coming! I hurriedly called, and she said since she'd never heard back from me she had scheduled a hair appointment that afternoon. She graciously agreed to cancel the appointment so we could come, but I felt terrible. I think the forgetting might have been due to stress, but I wonder if being "muddle-headed" is related to perimenopause?

Has anyone else experienced this more during these years?

yes [8|]

and I don't like it one little bit

I started taking a vitamin supplement specifically for women during these years and I have noticed that I have a clearer head

most of the time.[;)]

[:D]I have to keep the bottle beside my toothbrush in the morning to be reminded to take it...

I also started dropping things and feeling very clumsy. There was a episode of 'The Walton's" when the mother said it felt like her hands didn't belong to her and her body was betraying. This was a good description of how I felt. According to medical people a woman should be without a period for a year to consider herself post-

Aunt Flo has been her for 10 days now. She has over stayed her welome.

doinkdom -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/3/2009 9:51:14 AM)

[&o]that's awful! and, I thought I was gonna lose it when she showed up a week early![8|]

PinkCarnations -> Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/3/2009 10:49:26 AM)

She was three weeks late this time, so I think she is making up for lost time.

doinkdom -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/3/2009 10:52:39 AM)

ugh, sorry...do you have the excrutiating pain associated with her visits? if so...I hope you feel better soon!

furrypurrykitty -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/3/2009 12:34:15 PM)

Doctor's office called and left a message that they need to reschedule my Thursday appointment. *GRUMBLE* Will let you all know when I get it rescheduled. Thanks for your prayers.

MyCatSmokey2006 -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/3/2009 9:03:03 PM)

Well, I'm still eagerly expecting waiting for Aunt Flo to show up. It's been three months since her last visit. I bet that she shows up with Uncle Tom as uninvited guests for Thanksgiving Dinner! [:'(][:@]

Kath -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/3/2009 10:08:08 PM)

After my last gyno visit, he says I am officially in menopause. He says now if I get a bright red period there is something wrong and I need to come in right away.

furrypurrykitty -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/4/2009 9:07:10 AM)

Followup visit is now rescheduled for Thursday morning. Thanks for your prayers.

I attended a talk by Dr. Cooper of the Cooper Aerobics Center yesterday, and he said studies show exercise really helps memory and mental skills because it increases blood flow to the brain. I suddenly have renewed motivation to exercise ... (Now if I can just keep remembering what motivated me ... [8D])

The news I got from Dr. Brown today was disappointing; he said my abnormal bleeding problem may improve, but probably would not go away. He said if the problem gets worse, the solution would be hysterectomy. I don't have the money or sick leave to be able to do that, so I guess the alternative is to put up with the situation and pray for healing. I just want to cry when I think about the time and money I spent only to have the problem not be resolved. Thanks for your prayers and support.

PinkCarnations -> Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/7/2009 8:36:44 PM)

YAY Memaw.

Face it ladies, AF is just having too much fun with me to go visit y'all.

Off to go think up some unfun things that will make her go away! [:D]

Julie1955 -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/9/2009 2:36:09 PM)

Oh, I hate this. I wonder can I hang a sign up for Aunt Flo that says "No Soliciting" or "Moved, Left No Forwarding Address"????!!!! Since September I have been spotting only at night. Wait, I'll make it clearer -- for the TOM when Aunt Flo would be visiting, I have been spotting only at night. Just to be on the safe side I have been using pads, the kinds with the wider parts for your hinder. Yesterday afternoon just when I thought I was "safe", I felt a mini flood -- I went cold "down there".

I just want this to be over and done with, but Aunt Flo has other ideas.

AF finally left!

wareaglekd -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/10/2009 11:20:09 AM)

Are many of ya'll finding symptoms like gas, diarrhea. & upset stomach common for several days during your TOM? k

doinkdom -> RE: Peri-Menopause and Menopause Support (11/10/2009 12:16:50 PM)

Yep...and I found that I actually have much less of an appetite during that time, too.
