The Senate is going to be debating an omnibus spending proposal that has several thousand earmarks. During the presidential campaign, Obama pledged to reduce earmarks to below 1994 levels — when the GOP took control of the House — or less than $7.8 billion a year.

Despite the earmarks, Orszag said Obama will sign the bill.

What were they protesting? They were protesting being forced to pay someone else’s way when they are having enough trouble paying their own. The LA times reported, you got to love this that there were tea parties across the nation but few showed up, tell me that is not propaganda, tell those people who stood in below freezing temperatures and driving rain that just a few showed up.

For those of you who have been wondering what is wrong with the people, why are they just sitting back and allowing this to happen, well good news they are not anymore, the people are fighting back. I won’t ask you to pay my bills if you promise to pay your own, which is what the people are saying. They are saying we give at the office, we give at the church, and we give every single time we walk into a store, Mr. Obama you did not ask us to give, you told us we had to and we the people have just given you a resounding NO!!! Yet the major media still tells us on a daily basis that we love Obama that we are willing to hand him our paychecks if that is what it takes to save our country. But the people who are still cold from standing in 28 degree temperatures, the people who are still drying their clothes, they know different, they know they were standing there with hundreds and thousands of people who will not hand over their money or their freedom and they are proud they did it.

Kathleen Sebelius where he told her "that someday she's going to have to stand before God and account for her public service."



The Catholics United/Catholics in Alliance/Catholic Democrats axis of Obama supporters immediately cheered the selection of Sebelius, with Catholics United having enough notice of the pick to put up a Web site called "Catholics for Sebelius." The site presents a list of "Catholic leaders" supporting the nomination, including Doug Kmiec; Nicolas Cafardi; Margaret Steinfels, former editor of Commonweal; and Father Thomas Reese, former editor of America.

When Sebelius's name was first floated for HHS, Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, noted that almost every Obama appointee is pro-abortion, but the selection of Sebelius would create "a battle between those Catholics who are honestly pro-life, and those who feign a pro-life position while always embracing the likes of Sebelius."

Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Ill., who represents the 18th Congressional District of Illinois, where the Caterpillar plant is located, described Obama's visit and how he used it to lobby him to vote for the bill. It was another side of the story that went unreported by the media.

Obama singled out Schock in his Feb. 12 appearance, telling his audience to visit with the Illinois congressman and encouraged him "to do the right thing for the people of Peoria."

Susan Estrich is worried. Very worried. She believes that the current coordinated Democrat strategy of attacking Rush Limbaugh is completely counterproductive. And she's right:

He talks for hours every day. He gets paid to talk. Just talk. Doing it well is no small thing; witness the number of people who have tried to be him, or be the NOT-him, and failed. But he doesn't have to build a coalition. He doesn't need the votes of the other side to earn his check. He doesn't have to write the legislation, convince Olympia Snowe, raise money to keep the lights on, put his name on the ballot. All the things he doesn't have to do give him the freedom to be as effective as he is at what he does.

Trying to beat him at his own game when your own game is played by a different set of rules is a losing proposition. He knows that.

WASHINGTON -- Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele now says the sparring between himself and conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh was a "sideshow distraction."

Steele told NBC's "Today" that there are disagreements among conservative leaders, but said: "My job is to try to balance that. I wasn't that effective at it this week."

In an interview on CNN on Saturday, Steele called Limbaugh's talk show "incendiary" and "ugly." Steele apologized on Monday, calling Limbaugh a "national conservative leader."

"1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" host David Shuster on Tuesday repeatedly pestered Texas Congressman Ron Paul to publicly attack Rush Limbaugh and seemed frustrated when "even" the outspoken representative wouldn't give him what he wanted. After wondering "why it's so difficult" for Republicans to disagree with the talk show host's assertion that he wants Barack Obama's policies to fail, Shuster repeated the same question over and over. He complained, "How can we have that argument [about other issues], when even you, Ron Paul, are not willing to take this opportunity to say when Rush Limbaugh says that every Republican wants President Obama to fail, Rush Limbaugh is wrong?"

He continued, "How can we have the next conversation if you're not willing to have that first one?" Paul, refusing to allow Shuster to guide the debate, snapped back, "Because you want to control the semantics and the definitions." He added, "And, you know, in the media you like to personalize and then have a fight going on and that's the way politics works." The conversation didn't seem to be going the way Shuster had intended. Later, he derided, "It just seems, congressman, like so many Republicans are terrified of Rush Limbaugh. We're just trying to explore that."

Clearly, Shuster saw the unpredictable Paul as, perhaps, his best shot at finding a Republican willing to attack Limbaugh. He teased the segment in the show open by asking, "Is any Republican willing to criticize Limbaugh on anything? Perhaps Congressman Ron Paul. We'll talk to him live." He led off by challenging, "Congressman Paul, do you and every Republican want President Obama to fail?" And while Paul was more than willing to critique the talk show host for his support of the PATRIOT Act or for not hitting former President Bush hard enough on spending, he wasn't willing to be the Republican who would trash the radio star. At one point, Paul referred to Limbaugh as a "good conservative."

The Oklahoma senator gave a lengthy floor speech and mentioned that Sen. Jim DeMint's effort to force an up-or-down vote on the Fairness Doctrine issue, which passed 87-11 in the Senate, was a good beginning.

"Last week's vote was the first nail in the coffin of the Fairness Doctrine, but it was not the end of the attempt on the part of some people to regulate the airwaves," Inhofe said. "Now, I have long been outspoken on this issue, and it gives me great satisfaction that so many of my colleagues voted in favor of free speech over government regulation last week, but the debate has changed."

No, Obama said he was going to solve problems instead. Now that he is in the White House, he still makes this case, almost every day. On Wednesday morning, during an address about contracting reforms, he referred dismissively to the "chatter on the cable stations."

But what is the chatter on the cable stations? For most of this week, and for much of the last month, it has been about Rush Limbaugh. Hour after hour, daytime pundits are asked a litany of banal Rush questions: Does Rush really run the Republican Party? Why did RNC chair Michael Steele apologize to Rush? What does it mean that Rush addressed conservatives last weekend? As Jonathan Martin makes clear in the Politico today, this entire controversy has been cooked up and force fed to the American people by Obama's advisers.* In other words, it's not the kind of change you can believe in.

Let's start with the recent trips Obama's secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, made to key countries in an effort to differentiate his policy from Bush's foreign policy, but also to show these intractable nations, "I'm not George Bush." What were the results?

Secretary's Clinton's recent trip to China was not as a representative of the leader of the free world or of the most powerful nation in the history of the world, but was, with hat-in-hand, essentially our chief diplomat begging Chinese General Secretary Hu Jintao to please buy more of America's debt before we descend into a Great Depression. China balked and did not seem to accede to nor respect Hillary's urgent request for economic aid.

This is my former pastor who I know, love & respect. Times Square Church was amongst the 1st large NYC churches to answer my call to come & minister @ the 1000 bed shelter that I worked @.
$$$$ is never mentioned & their music is not normally copyrighted & therefore for anyone to use. Pastor Dave rents large facilities like Radio City Music Hall to put on free (unusual as he could charge 30-50$ a night) to hold free open ministry events. Can you imagine how much RCMH costs per night????
He has a heart to minister to ministers & does so @ no cost to churches world-wide.
It is a blessed church where 1000s are saved in church & through street, prison & other outreaches. Internationally they fund orphanages, work w/ prostitutes in India for instance...& I can go on & on & on.
Sadly since moving to Brooklyn most churches that I have checked up on mention $$$$$$$$$$$ sometimes 3xs in a service.
Pastor Dave is a true man of God & I believe The Lord speaks to him & there is multi-fruit to bear witness.
I too have even mentioned on this blog that I believe NYC will be attacked again,a seperate issue...& other regions of our nation & perhaps overseas interests. I of course am not a prophet but feel such in my heart of hearts.
Pastor Dave is predicting more in the area of rioting in the streets, maybe arson & so on. I can see that as crime would likely spike in a bad economy....
We have the best police & first responders in the nation but I believe under this weak current president & cabinet we are more vulnerable than we have ever been since 9/11 for mass riots (or) terrorist attacks.

The Imbroglio of Good and Bad Taliban

In fact by my observations, it is even more complicated than that: the US Administration is being advised that any change in strategy in Afghanistan is better than the previous situation. In the midst of a segment on Rush Limbaugh on Sunday morning's Reliable Sources portion of CNN's State of the Union, host Howard Kurtz scolded his journalistic colleagues for a remark which “totally got missed by the media,” how CNN host D.L. Hughley charged “that the Republican convention 'literally looks like Nazi Germany.' I don't understand how he can get away with saying that. I think that is an outrage.”

Kurtz, the Washington Post's media reporter, interjected his criticism after guest Amanda Carpenter of the Washington Times, and formerly with TownHall.com, had defended RNC Chairman Michael Steele's characterization of Limbaugh's rhetoric as “ugly,” a slam on Limbaugh he made on Hughley's show, D.L. Hughley Breaks the News, last weekend. She guessed Steele was thinking of “Rush Limbaugh's interpretation of 'Barack the Magic you know what,' so when he said 'ugly,' that was ugly, that was a very ugly part of the discussion that was in the run up to his election.” (Of course, “Barack the Magic Negro” was a song parody inspired by a black writer who used that term in a Los Angeles Times op-ed about Obama.)

Carpenter's comment reminded Kurtz:

In that interview with D.L. Hughley, who coincidentally his show has now been dropped by CNN, Hughley said -- this totally got missed by the media -- that the Republican convention “literally looks like Nazi Germany.” I don't understand how he can get away with saying that. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 woke the country up to one level of danger, but the military was not rebuilt to handle threats from regional powers like Iran, let alone rising peer competitors like China. Now, in the midst of the largest economic crisis since the Great Depression, the Obama administration will embark on a new round of defense cuts and adopt an appeasement policy to match.

Facing record budget deficits, President Barack Obama is looking for spending cuts as well as tax hikes. Major weapons programs will be targeted for reductions, delays and terminations, even as more troops are sent to Afghanistan. During his campaign Obama stated, “We must not simply recreate the military of the Cold War era.” The Cold War military was designed to fight other major powers. Instead, Obama wants to focus on wrapping up the small wars he inherited, while pursuing arms control and “dialogue” with potential adversaries.

Bonnie Erbe, a columnist and blogger for U.S.News and World Report, is keen to make sure that Democrats continue to cheat on re-districting as much as possible. She is insisting that Democrats not fall for a bi-partisan or a fair approach to re-districting and says that the Census should stay "politicized" because, after all, it’s Democrats in power now! So, as far as she is concerned, the Democrats should "gerrymander away" and absolutely demands that the Census should be politicized.

Erbe writes that she wants to "gender-mander" the Census for "feminist leaders" and wants to make sure that "hispanics and Latinos" aren't "under-counted." She claims the Census is "part of the spoils of victory" and wants her lefties to be able to wield that power. She says that the Democrats should "spare us the theatrics of trying to look nonpartisan." So, the Dems should continue to cynically use the Census merely for partisan political purposes.

So much for the new tone in Washington, eh?

The five detainees at Guantánamo Bay charged with planning the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks have filed a document with the military commission at the United States naval base there expressing pride at their accomplishment and accepting full responsibility for the killing of nearly 3,000 people.

The document, which may be released publicly on Tuesday, uses the Arabic term for a consultative assembly in describing the five men as the “9/11 Shura Council,” and it says their actions were an offering to God, according to excerpts of the document that were read to a reporter by a government official who was not authorized to discuss it publicly.

Seventy-five members of Congress asked House leaders on Tuesday to shut down a loophole allowing billions in economic stimulus funds to go to some 300,000 construction workers who are in the country illegally.

“I believe that this figure may be low,” Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., tells Newsmax. Stearns adds, “We owe it to the American workers and to American taxpayers to ensure that their money does not go to employ workers in our country illegally.”

The House version of the $787 billion stimulus package signed by President Obama included a requirement that the legal residency of all employees hired through stimulus spending be verified. As Newsmax reported Monday, that provision was mysteriously stripped from the legislation before it went to the conference committee that reconciled the House and Senate versions of the legislation.
