ORIGINAL: bunnymom321 I can tell you this that they frown upon marrying outside of the church so much that even though they may not come right out and say it, they will treat them both like outcast until she converts if they did marry. I married my husband who was not a member and I was no longer treated as an equal (not that women are even remotely considered equals) and I was no longer asked to hold important positions in the church. That was the start of my search for the whole truth. As for the LDS websites, it does not surprise me that they do not have much info. They want to talk to you in person. I will give you this, Mormons are some of the nicest people you ever want to meet. They have a wonderful family focus. The members truly believe with all their hearts that they are right in their beliefs. They do not realaize how wrong they are until they have stopped practicing for a long period of time. It truly was like I was brainwashed. I could not believe all the lies I was exposed to for a very long time. Thanks for sharing part of your story .... I love testimonies!! I was involved with several cults ... The cults tend to have a very strong influence on you ... like a magnetic pull, almost mesmorizing, and sometimes even a tight griphold on you ... leading you to believe that if you so much as visit another church (not of their group), that you are damned .....

The good news is that many Mormons are seeing the light and leaving the "church." quote:
ORIGINAL: vja4Him Most certainly, the Mormons are singing blasphemy ... !!! Very sad ... quote:
ORIGINAL: davemiller7 Here are words from one their favorite hymns, "Praise To The Man". LDS HYMN #27 "PRAISE TO THE MAN" 1) Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus annointed that Prophet and Seer. Blessed to open the last dispensation, Kings shall extol him, and nations revere. chorus: Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain. Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer the hero again. 2) Praise to his memory, he died as a martyr; Honored and blest be his ever great name! Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins, Plead unto heaven while the earth lauds his fame. 3) Great is his glory and endless his priesthood: Ever and ever the keys he will hold. Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom, Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old. 4) Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven; Earth must atone for the blood of that man. Wake up the world for the conflict of justice. Millions shall know "brother Joseph" again. Praising Joseph Smith, celebrated in the same way The Holy Trinity is worshipped. There's blasphemy! -Dave

The very foundational claim of the Book of Mormon has been thoroughly refuted by DNA evidence. Native Americans are NOT descended from Israelites. They are descended from the people living in northeast Asia. This video is a documentary I have seen twice on television. It has two (ex?)Mormons who are honest enough to admit that the hard science of DNA poses very troubling questions for the Mormon faith. It is about 50 minutes long, but well worth the time to view. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svfxSscxh8o

However, during our short conversation they asked where I went to Church and I told them the name of the Baptist church I attend. They had big smiles and said that was a great Church. My question is this--I know they did not mean that. Is it a practice of their missionaries to try and manipulate people in this way? I could not with any honesty say the same about a mormon church because I know they are leading others away from Christ. I've noticed that it is a very common tactic. I can't tell you if that is part of their training, but I suspect it is. Amongst themselves, they would not be saying that. I speak from experience.

ORIGINAL: joseph91 Hey, Mormonism needs to be brought out into the limelight. This guy Matt Slick is very very effective at explaining many issues, including mormonism. Here is his link: http://www.carm.org/mormon.htm Good luck. Thanks for the link. I have many of those pages archived from offline reading. There are so many problems with Mormonism, it's hard to understand how anyone who is seeking the truth, and is honest, can stay in Mormonism .... Once you join like I did, they manipulate you with guilt trips. The religion teaches that only by obedience to all their teachings will the Holy Ghost guide you and strengthen your testimony of Mormonism. If you have doubts, it's due to disobedience in some areas.

This is true. I and my wife became Stake Missionaries during our brief Mormon "experience." As such, we worked closely with the young missionaries and they were told to not be confrontational or antagonistic toward those of other beliefs. All Christian churches (other than the LDS church) they consider apostate. They consider themselves to be Christian, which is a lie of the highest order. They don't tell outsiders about the apostate churches, but it's commonly known inside the LDS community. quote:

They try and make you feel guilty, then blame you if what they teach doesn't work ....

Okay, people, I'm new here. All I know is that Mormonism is wrong, and i'm going to try to do everything I can to get others to see the truth. I want to know what is being done to help these people, and how I can join the organization. Gracias for help.

Welcome, Molly. I'm glad to hear you're not taken in by the Mormon propaganda. Satan has dressed it up beautifully. Crankius has offered an excellent resource for you. Not knowing what your experience is with Mormonism, I'll offer another good resource, It's very comprehensive: http://www.exmormon.org/tract2.htm
