LOL!! That's FUNNY!!!!
Probably the thing that bugs me the most is when my Aunt gets to going and is like, "So, I heard(Insert guy's name here) likes you? Why don't you just like him back?"
Some people just don't get that when you know where God is leading you in life, you want to know the guy you are going to spend forever with is headed in the SAME direction as you are! Otherwise, things could get complicated!

I think he was being funny Jewels.........You have to watch him sometimes.....or at least I do.........I remember when he first started posting.......I would read something which broke my heart for him only to find out it was not true but one of his puns..........I just don't get why people assume being single also means you are gullible or worse naive........

In this case however I was stone cold serious.[:(]

I hear the same thing - I'm too independent says my friends - 'a guy wants a gal who NEEDS him' if that's really the case then [:'(] but my mom (who knows me best I might add) thinks I'm definitely the marrying kind. I dunno - I'll just "keep praying and stop thinking about it so the right one can come' blah blah blah.... LOL!

Oh my, if I ever heard somebody say this to me I would not be very happy! And they'd probably get a little [:@][:@][:@] from me in return.

LOL well she didn't say it that way to me, she said it to a mutual friend (my best friend) that way... to me she said something more like "I always hoped you two girls (my sister and I) would find someone but sometimes marriage just isn't in the cards". of course knowing what she said to my best friend didn't help much!

I sit here still a single guy Sometimes it grand and yet other times it is so lonely it is just sad. There are day when I want to share my day with someone and then there are days when I am glad I am single so I can be alone. So I am not sure wich is better to be single or married. But I can say this I wish I had someone that I could love and that would love me back. You know the love I mean just being there when I need someone to listen to me.

I am glad I have a lot of friends and I know they love me and they have help me But it is not the same as having a soulmate. That is what I am waiting on.......

I honestly don't think mine will - so that's one pet peeve I try to ignore.

Have you tried online dating?

This is usually said by another single woman who thinks she's "too spiritual" for online dating or said by married person that's never tried online dating.

What bugs me are these people (Elizabeth Elliot, James Dobson, etc) who think if you're over 30 and still single, then the only thing you're good for is to pack yourself off to the Amazon or Africa as a missionary.

Elizabeth Elliott bugs me period.

1. She seems arrogant to me (and yes, I met her in person once, although did not have time to really converse).

2. In her book Passion and Purity, she is SO judgmental that women shouldn't chase guys around (which is true to an extent) or that they shouldn't even DESIRE marriage until some guy has placed a ring on her finger (impossible for any living, breathing female), and yet in my opinion, the way she waited endlessly for Jim Elliott to make up his mind was pretty desperate..if some guy took that long to make up his mind about ME, he could go take a hike. Which also reminds me why that book bugs me...she made him sound so virtuous, and I don't think taking forever to make up your mind is virtuous.

Also, even though she tells other women they shouldn't assume they will marry, she admits that she assumed her daughter would marry even before she (her daughter) had met her husband.

Elizabeth Elliott

I agree with what you stated about Elizabeth Elliott. However, I did read a quote from her that I agreed with (she stated she was shocked at how many beautiful single Christian women she met with no prospects for marriage). I wish I could find it. I was surprised that the quote was coming from her. I will try to find -but it was years ago -so I might not be able to find.

"You should enjoy being single."
(That's like going to the hospital and telling a patient, "You should enjoy being sick.")

As a teenage girl, having no boyfriend is like having no food....to some people anyway! Good grief! I'm only 14: it may be 10 YEARS before I get married!!!! I gotta long ways to go, so a boyfriend??? Don't really need one right now! Good golly....makes me mad!! [:@] And those girls that only talk about boys? *hacks and coughs* YUCK!!! There are SOOOOOO many more things to live for (the biggest namely God) right now while we're young!!!

POST: *a little irritated sounding* 'Would 'crkgkahfdosudf;ewa;r like cheese with that?'

ME: *thinking... hmm... that bumps the cost up 15 cents! for a lousy slice of cheese?!!? must remember to bring my own Single cheese slice next time!* 'No.'

Hey, that's a pretty good cliche, Tink! Short and to the point.

The request was for a singles cliche, you didn't like mine, huh? Are you a vegan or something? How do you turn a single beef pattie into a cheeseburger? Singles cliche'... want cheese with that? Anyone please help me out? Put it in NeverNeverspeak? Note my courteousness... I'm not getting a shoe thrown at me or a Gibbs.

*throws trout at you*

I must give you my extreme congratulations, OJ...you are the first person I have met that makes me feel like I'm on a constant acid trip.

"Surely you're joking!"

"I'm not joking...and don't call me Shirley."

Another dastardly cliche'? "Too bad she's/he's not more like....(insert name of 'perfect' sibling here)."
