Saturday is attack the mountains of laundry and clean the house day. Of course, Luke and Kenna will follow me around and "unclean" everything they can. After they go to bed I'm going to start taking down the hideous floral wallpaper in our bathroom and get it ready to paint. I may just have to share before and after pics with y'all. --Kat

LOL, Kat! I remember those days. Of course, when I say I'm doing nothing that doesn't include cleaning and laundry. The laundry will be done all day Sunday while we watch football and the housecleaning will be done tomorrow. Luckily my 2 are old enough that they can do a good chunk of the cleaning!

Hi, my son is 10 months (soon to be 11) I've talked to my parents and DH and feel better about leaving to work. DH will get to work early and pick up our son after 20-30 mins after I leave. I love my mom but I get these weird vibes sometimes. Last night she picked up my son to spend some time with him. I bathed him before she got there and packed his bottle and dinner (mac and spinach). She brought him back 2 hours later in the same diaper, same clothes (dirty now), didn't bring his food back even though she said he didn't finish it all, and his bottle was full. It was hard getting him back on track. Yes, my parents see my son a lot. At least once a week to several times a week. My mom doesn't really come over and visit us or do stuff with us. She likes to take DS out on her own or to her house. Anyway, I think I just have to deal with it. It's only 30 minutes and my parents adore him. Plus we're trying to save money to one day move and be more independent. Thanks for the advice, I start working Monday! :)

Kylie - I had that happen with vacation, sort of. I was hired and given two weeks, and would start getting 3 weeks after 5 years - 4 week after 10 or 15 years (can't remember now). Within a year, they changed it to make us more appealing to entry-level employees (?!?!?!?!?!?) and now you get 3 weeks from the start and your 4th week after 10 or 15 years. The email was sent plant wide, but really only effected less than 5 of us because everyone else had more than 5 years. I'm waiting for them to raise it again to encourage folks to stick around....

Hi Ladies, it's my first day back at work... All kinds of feelings going on. I really was dreading it, but it's not so bad being back here. Chase did wonderfully when I dropped him off at daycare, he couldn't have cared less if I stayed or not, so I'm pretty sure he's fine. I haven't heard from anyone at the daycare, so hoping things are going well. Everyone is in meetings today, so no training, I'm just reading up on company policies etc. (my old job was moved to another office, so I'm learning a new position) Take care... talk to you all soon!

Erin I am so excited for you to start your leave. Then you can really experience that first month just you and baby. I always loved that first month. I always dreaded going back to work. For me it was going from 6-9 weeks off then WHAMMO full-time full-force work while hubby watched the kids.

yesterday was my first day.. it was hard leaving our son but I liked being out of the house and the idea that I was making money :). DH watches him the majority of the time while I work. does anyone else have a DH that does that? I've always watched our son so I hope my hubby is adjusting ok. I try to help him as much as I can by leaving dinner made and diapers cleaned (we cloth diaper). Daycare is really expensive. I'm thinking about going back full-time when DS is 2 years. I'm not sure if it's better that DH and I alternate watching our son or if putting him in daycare during the day and spending the evening together (all 3 of us) would be better.

LOL, Kylie! I could use a day or two kid-free. I haven't had one in quite a while. But it's so cool now that they're older, they're not as needy.

I try to help him as much as I can by leaving dinner made and diapers cleaned (we cloth diaper). For almost seven years my husband stayed home with the kids. We even did cloth diapers for a couple years. Hubby wasn"t too thrilled about doing it that way, but for us it was the best option. We did not want to do daycare, and we both agreed that at least one of us was going to be home with the kids. At the time I was the one who was able to bring in the most income, so we agreed that he would stay home.

artemis~ If I remember correctly you teach highschool? I stayed at home with our son for 11 months and was previously a teacher. While I appreciate the time I was able to have with him SO MUCH I've come to realize that there are positives and negatives to any choice. It got to the point where I was soooo bored all the time and wasn't really enjoying the time I spent at home. I just started teaching part-time in the evenings at a highschool. While it is hard to leave my son I know he is in good hands and I'm so much happier to get out of the house. Anyway, I hope everything works out with your husband's job-search so that you will be able to spend more time with your baby and have less stress overall. It will all work out :). Nicole~ I keep a few disposables on hand for DH :). He's great though, he doesn't seem to mind the cloth diapers. Isn't cloth diapering an obsession? We don't want to do daycare either and I think we're lucky that our schedules worked out so well. My church does daycare starting at 18 months.. I think we'll consider it around 2 years? It's so hard to plan that far in advance. So far the transition to working is going ok. I love getting out of the house and doing something. I've had to change DS's bedtime so I can spend time with him during the evening otherwise I just don't feel right.

I think I'm crazy. The PTA president of my girl's jr high just called, desperate because her secretary and treasurer just quit on her. She begged me to take one of the positions. I am now the PTA secretary. I have no idea what exactly that means.

Thanks, Kat!! This poor woman has never done it before either. I felt really bad for her. That's ok. I'd like to be more involved anyway. I'm really good with clerical stuff so I think it will be fine. And I've been praying that God would help me be less selfish!!

Hi ladies :) I just need somewhere to blow off for a minute, hope you all don't mind. You don't really have to read this, it just feels better getting it off my chest. I am a transport driver for children in state custody. I transport to and from parent/child visits, child/court, child/social worker and any other visit or appt needed. I am getting pretty close to some of these kids, I have my regular ones and sometimes (like what I am getting ready to go on now) I have just the one time. Anyway, my heart is breaking for one of my regulars. She is 9, been in foster care for the past 2 yrs (Mom has mental issues and drug issues and has not been allowed to see child for a year) so I bring her to see Dad 1X week for an hour (supervised). I found out yesterday Mom and Dad lose their parental rights next month which means she will be up for adoption. It's just so sad. I just don't understand how parents can get so deeply involved with their self to where their children lose out. I get so angry with some of these parents when I found out the reason they lost their children is because they won't CLEAN THEIR HOUSE!!! I just want to smack them upside the head and say HEY! These are your children! These kids did not ask for this, they were brought into this world and have had so many strikes against them I wonder what kind of adults they will end up being. I wonder if anything will ever make the parents realize what they have done to their own flesh and blood? OK, thanks for letting me get this off. :)

Kimmie, that sure is heartbreaking. Some people make me wonder if they even know they have kids. I know a girl that lives around here that leaves her 18 month old in her crib from the time she wakes up at 6:30 until the mom can roll out of bed... (sometimes close to noon!) That means the poor little girl doesn't even get to eat breakfast until noon! Go to bed, and get up in the morning with your kids!!

artemis~ I don't think I'm very good at teaching either. I taught 2 years at highschool level and thought I was done for good. However, we need the money and now I'm back teaching part-time in the evenings. With the way things are looking I don't doubt I could be back full-time next year :/. I wish I could continue to stay home but everything is so expensive.. it seems worth it now to give up my time so that we can live more comfortably. oh, and prayer! I'll be praying for you and your hubby that the best can come out of this situation. memaw~ that is sad news . Life can get so overwhelming and it's awful when others suffer for your lack of doing.
