Kath - the baked sweet potatoes come highly recommended.


When BigBee was born, I worked 3p-12:30a. Poppa would sleep in the evening when BigBee napped and then get up and wait for me to come home and then sleep until he had to get up to go in at 6:30a.

I miss that, even though I didn't see him much. We just appreciated each other so much.

Before that - I worked swing shifts and he would either drive me to work or pick me up. I didn't drive, so I'd walk the other leg of the trip. Except 7a-3p. He drop me off an hour early and pick me up about 1/2 hour late, but I didn't mind.

No ours are not that oppisite... and his varies time to time...depending where the job site is..most are far off and he works 10hr days. Mine are more the same hours, 4hrs on Saterday and then any day else I have is 8hrs unless I am just covering for someone then its usually 4 or so... and depending the office its 10-20 min difference in time when I get home.

Dh worked graveyard (9:30ish to 6:30ish) when we were first married. I am a teacher so I work days (7:30 to 3:30). Usually he would get home from work in time to walk DS & I to the school (DS attended preschool & I worked on the K-12 side). Then DH would sleep while we were gone & usually pick DS & I up from work around 3:30 or 4 o'clock.

It's official. I am on SPRING BREAK for the next 10 days!! That means I get to stay home [:)]

Wow so lot's of you have had opposite schedules before. I find it hard, especially since hubby and I don't have one full day off together.

Edited to add more:

I often think about going part time at my job for different reasons. But it is my prayer that I would be able to one day. Hubby and I want to have our first child sometime in July or August but me going part time will all depend of whether or not we could afford to. Right now, my paycheck goes to food, household items and savings. And soon our regular expenses will go up a little. We will be adding car insurance soon to our bills, a higher cell phone bill (joint family plan. No landline though) and eventually we need to move from our one bedroom apt. to at least a two to accommodate a child. Not sure I can do it by just working part time. Ha. Not unless hubby found a better paying job. Just a little about me as I join in this thread. [:)]

My husband and I are still in a one bedroom apartment with our 3 1/2 month old son. I think most places will let you have a baby in a one bedroom until s/he is 6 months old. That would buy you a little time [;)] We have plenty of room for the three of us (but our apartment is fairly big for a one-bedroom... 750 sq. ft.)

The thing is that our place is leased a year at a time. Once that child is mobile look out! lol

Yeah, that makes it hard to plan, doesn't it? Almost everywhere is a year-lease, but we were fortunate enough that our complex let us go month-to-month for only a little extra when our lease ran out in July. We chose to stay here rather than sign another year-lease somewhere else because we thought that surely my husband would have a job by next July. That's not looking so promising now [&:] Oh well... I know that we should be incredibly grateful that at least I have a job [:)]

That seems to be the case more and more, Amy. I am working as a teacher, but my DH is unemployed (thankfully he is able to draw unemployment which helps with the bills). Earlier I heard something about the economy might be turning around. Time will tell what happens though....
