every day after my surgery, for 2 weeks, if I didn't nap I felt just awful. I had the view point that I was not working, and my mom was here taking care of me and making sure things got done that needed to get done... my job was to rest and to recuperate. I slept whenever I felt like it. (which was a lot) In fact, I had a hard time waking up enough for the nurses liking just after the surgery... they kept telling me that I had to wake up so that I could see my family, who were waiting for me. I was just so tired, it was awful. Once they gave me some juice, and let me nap for about 10 minutes, I was feeling like 80% better. =) Really, I would take it one step at a time. I mean, I tried to get up and walk a bit as I felt that I could, but I didn't push myself at all. Things hurt. I'd just had surgery. I had no reason to be pushing myself... and I think it would have delayed my healing process had I pushed. I just take a while to heal, and always have. =)

Gina, you have had so much going on! I feel bad for your hubby, that's got to be painful. Ok, I am not very happy about the surgery. They were not able to squeeze me in before the doctor leaves on vacation on the 7th. Good news for the suprise party, but bad because they couldn't get me in until May 23rd. That's a whole month away! I am worried about the cyst erupting or collapsing my ovary, like the doctor said could happen. My cyst is actually two cysts, each about 4 cm each next to each other. I am also bummed about that date because that weekend I was supposed to do a ladies weekend in chicago with my college girlfriends, it's our ten year reunion since we graduated (i can't belive that). I don't know if I should push for an earlier date, the scheduler already worked really hard with me today to get a date, it seems like there was no other option. I don't want to schedule it after the 23rd either because I don't want to wait any longer than I have to. From what you ladies are saying though, maybe I won't even feel like doing a weekend in Chicago if I have surgery anytime in May. Urgh.

Noelle, I understand how you feel. When I was first told I would need surgery, it was mid/late December. I didn't have the surgery until March 27th. I was worried/stressed the whole time. We prayed a ton, and prayed and prayed and prayed. We had everyone we knew praying too. I was worried that it would rupture and yet I was worried over having the surgery planned. Keep in mind, I also switched doctors during that time period... as my first doctor didn't think laparoscopic was an option, and I didn't want the other type of surgery if it was possible to avoid it. I didn't go looking for a surgeon to agree with me, just a second opinion, and what he disagreed with the first on was that it could be done laparoscopically... and he was such a nice/knowledgable doctor who took a great deal of time with me... someone who wasn't even his patient yet. I also had great refereces for him from friends. Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent. I'm a little tired today, so you'll have to forgive the rambling. =) I will pray for you. Yes, it is very stressful. They tell you that you need surgery, and that it needs to be soon, and then they don't schedule it for what seems "soon" in our minds. We have had a lot going on. The one thing that I've not done..... is to take my progesterone. I figured that I am already on CD 49, and they want me to take it for 10 days, and then stop to see if my period comes. I haven't had a cycle that much longer than this without progesterone, so I guess I don't really see the point. Plus I'm taking so many other medications for being sick that I just didn't want to add one more to the mix. My body is very sensitive to medications anyway, and I just feel like I'd be on overload if I added one more. So, even though my doctor's office thinks I should take the progesterone, I think I'm gonna put it off and see what happens. (atleast for now)

Gina, If your body works on that time frame, I believe I would forgo the medication as well at this time. However...does the progesterone do anything else? Ie: prevent cysts from growing larger or anything like that? Just curious....because if not & it's just to bring on your cycle.....well....go with your thinking. Wow, that's a long time to wait for surgery y'all. And I thought my wait was awhile, LOL. Doc told me on the 1st of this month that we were going to do surgery & it would be on the 11th or 18th. Well, it was the 18th. Noelle, I couldn't imagine waiting for a month (or even months like you, Gina.). It was hard enough for me to wait that couple of weeks & my cysts weren't growing (as far as I know)....they were just increasing with each cycle. Noelle, you might be able to do a weekend in Chicago either before or the weekend following the procedure. It just depends on how your recuperate! For me, I am feeling almost back to normal today...just some pain & still bleeding (grrr). Still tired as well---but...I did only get about 6 hours of sleep last night. (Whoops!) Have y'all taken birth control pills before to stop the cysts from forming? Have you heard of this? As I've said before, the doc isn't recommending anything right now. I guess I'm just a little concerned that my body is going to develop more cysts during this time of waiting. Anyway, the little one is down for his nap, I'm going to try to rest some while he's out!!

That's why I don't want to use BC, Noelle. As for your surgery, I pray it goes well. I hear you on the baby talk thing. One of my good friends is pregnant & that's all she can talk about. I love her dearly...it's just really hard...especially when it's her 3rd baby. Thankfully I do have one son (almost 5) from my previous marriage. I've just been marveling at how fast he's been growing up recently....

ah, home again... now to see if I can remember what all the post said. (it was actually written and submitted last night, so it's been a while...) Um... The progesterone is only to bring on my period. It would have no other effect at this point. The reason that I have it in the first place is because my progesterone levels are a bit low after ovulation, and so I am supposed to take them just after I ovulate to help lengthen my luteal phase. Other than that, I know of no possible helpful side effects that it would have at this point in time. =) birth control to keep cysts under control: it depends on what type of cysts you have. If you have cysts that are brought on by regular cycles, yes, it will help to keep them away if you take birth control pills. How? Because it keeps your body from ovulating, and your ovaries from working. Basically it gives your ovaries a vacation, and they don't have to do a thing except rest. Therefore you would not have cysts that are being produced by your cycles. (this is my understanding of it anyway) However, since you are trying to conceive... this obviously is not something that you want to go with on a permanent basis. I think short term it would achieve the result of keeping those pesky cysts at bay. I have actually considered going on birth control pills again for a couple of months, because my body rebounds well after the birth control pills are stopped... and I ovulate regularly on my own for a while. The reason I haven't really done that is because it seems contra-indicated. I mean, we want a baby, so why go on birth control pills and basically sit out 2 full cycles. (or however many)

That's where we're at, Gina. But...if it worked.....hmmm....2 cycles doesn't sound too bad....compared to trying all of the medications and them still not working. I'm really praying the surgery works for me as things should be cleaned out now. Maybe that's all my body needed...a good tune up. The only thing is....with the cysts...I am pretty sure they are going to continue to be produced as long as I ovulate (which I do as far as I know).....

have you ever tried OPK's? They're fairly easy to use, and they'll tell you with a fair amount of certainty whether you are ovulating or not. =)

Yeah---I was using them. The one cycle they flopped BIG time (didn't even get a control line). With the next, we were going out of town & I didn't want to take them with me. The third cycle I was awaiting surgery so I wanted to be pregnant, kind of not....and I had had the biopsy just previously so I wasn't sure if the bleeding I had was from that....or from regular menses. I'll probably try them with my next cycle (not this one that's just starting, but the next...guess it would be cycle 2 after surgery). It's just I wouldn't know when to start using them this month since I'm sure the surgery threw everything off.

status quo here....I am just finishing AF. I am suprised, but this cycle was pretty mild. I had some cramps, but not the usual awful bloating that I feel, and other weird pains I get in my abdomen. I thought the cramps would be really bad considering I have an orange on my ovary. Tomorrow is the big day - hubby's surprise party. I can't wait! but I also can't wait for it to be done so I have no more stressors for a few weeks!!!!! How are you?

I'm still here... just sorta hanging out. I realized on Saturday that it has been 3 weeks since my negative blood test, and so it's been longer than I thought. I'm starting to wonder if I should do the progesterone... but I've not had a cycle like this one in a looooooong time. I don't know... I just don't want to do it. Although I might give in soon if nothing else happens. Of course I would take a test first, but at this point, I don't feel that is the way to go. I'm actually kinda surprised that my doctor's office hasn't called wondering what is up and why they have not seen me. I've been sick off and on for the past 6 weeks anyway. I had a sinus infection, then an eye infection in both eyes, then I thought I was getting better... and felt "normal" except for a bit tired, then the eye infection came back with a vengence on Friday. So, I'm out of work today and had to leave early on Friday because of my eyes.

Well, I posted in the TTC conceive thread.... BUT....doc isn't wanting to do anything more right now. I'm frustrated & confused. Even asked about various medications. Am beginning cinnamon caplets & trying to watch eating habits, etc. Any other ideas?

you could start charting and using OPK's to make sure you know when is the best time to be doing things. =) Leslie, welcome! =) I'm sorry you are having issues, but we are happy to have you join our thread. =) As for me, I finally started my period yesterday. So, now to make an appointment with the doctor to see about getting clomid again.

well, it turns out that I had a cyst burst within the last few days, at some point. I knew that I was feeling pain, but I had just attributed it to regular period type cramps and such. I knew that it was hurting more on the left, but again, thought little of it. Anyway, she said it wasn't a big deal, and since it had burst we could go ahead with the clomid as scheduled... which is double the dosage that I had the previous 2 cycles. That does not sound like fun to me... and it starts this evening. Oh joy!

Ouch about the cyst bursting!! I don't think any of mine did that...at least not that I've been told. Praying the clomid works this time, Gina!! (((hugs)))

thanks. Yeah, I have a sort of high tolerance for pain... sometimes. So, I wasn't even taking advil or anything for the pain... until she said that's what it was, then I wanted my advil. =)

LOL, Gina. I have a pretty high pain tolerance as well...which is why when OTC pain relievers weren't cutting it (along with the irregularities)...I had enough!!! I'm surely praying for a little one in 2009 though

Noelle, how are you doing? Isn't your surgery coming up soon? How's everybody else doing? I did the clomid thing, and survived again. Now we are waiting on ovulation. We are also hoping that I won't get sick again in the mean time, and that I will continue to improve in health matters. (I've been battling eye infections/sinus infections for about 2 months now)
