44 pound cat

I don't think you can tell by the picture how big the cat is. I wish they had another picture.

I googled "Princess Chunk" and came up with THIS picture, and THIS picture showing him next to a normal sized-cat.

Hey, we just had a wasp get loose in the house. I tried to put him back outside via the window, but Punky intercepted... and I think he just got stung on his paw. Is there anything I should watch for? He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable at all and has even stopped licking his paw.

I would just watch for bad swelling or a reaction. I think most of the time stings don't bother cats like they do us.

I had a bees nest in one of my chimneys a couple of years ago and I think Munchie got stung. She was a bit of a grouch for a day or two, but was ok. As Kristin said, just keep an eye on him.

Thanks, ladies. He seems to be doing fine... no swelling that I can see, and it hasn't affected his activity level at all today.

I thought Prince Chunk looked a little like my cat, Vanilla. His coloring is similar, and Vanilla is a little overweight--but he's not that overweight!

My Bumper Kitty is a 13 year old part Manx (she has a tiny little tail). I rescued her when she was about four months old.

She usually won't let anyone but me pet her, and she usually won't sit or stand still as I pet her.

I often tell her the story of her life as she walks back and forth under my caresses. About how I saw her, heard her cry, fed her, took her home, moved to new house, etc.

The funny thing is, if I change the story by adding something or telling it out of order, she knows it.

This first happened a few years ago, when I left out something and she looked up at me and cried. I occasionally test this by changing the story and she almost always stops, looks up, and cries.

That's so funny ~ I called Munchie something different today and she cried at me! I thought it was just chance, but maybes it wasn't.

<<<My new avatar is Bumper kitty (see two posts back).

She looks chubbier in the picture than she really is. She has a beautiful coat that has a bullseye pattern on each side. I almost named her Bullseye, but her constant bumping against everything made her name easy.

An interesting thing is that I actually saw Bumper being conceived.

Some college students rented a house across from us and one day I saw two cats mating in their yard. About three months later I saw the students and their visitors playing with what looked to be four or five week old kittens. The students moved away and pretty soon Bumper was running around the neighborhood and one day was under my car crying. I fed and watered her for a few days.

We were in the process of moving and I wanted to take her to our new home, but really didn't have much hope (she would not even let me touch her.

I took a cat carrier and a can of tuna and unbelievably she jumped into the cat carrier - then promptly jumped right out and ran away. That is when (as I tell her) that God said: "Bumper, get back in the cat carrier."

To my amazement, this skittish kitty jumped back into the cat carrier and I took her to our new house and put her in the garage (she was going to be our "outdoor" cat.

Right.

I'm glad she got back in that carrier! She's beautiful! Those green eyes are just stunning!

Kerrlaw, that's great... these kitties understand more than we realize! My Pun'kin answers back when I talk to him sometimes.

Time for a kitty story... Last Sunday, I was packing for a week-long trip, and Pun'kin didn't know what was going on. He ran around the house and eventually figured out that I was leaving. Sometimes, he'd dart outside and run as fast as he could.

Finally, we settled down and I just held him for a while on my lap. He chewed on my hand and the best guess I could give to his facial expression was that he was close to tears. Trust me, I was close to tears, too. I've never left him for a whole week. But my mom and sister came to check on him throughout the week, and he knows them well. He was very glad to see me this evening when I drove up in the driveway!

Our cat yells at us when we come back from a trip of a few days. He meows loudly and most emphatically for several minutes. Actually, last time he didn't do that. Maybe he's mellowing out in his old age (9).

I always miss my furries horribly when I go out of town. When I headed off for college at 18, my cat Timo I guess would go around and mope for about 2 weeks after I'd leave. My parents said that he could sense when I was coming home though (I didn't get home often because my college was about 6 hours away and I didn't have a car at the time) he would start running around the house at full speed a few minutes before I'd arrive (used to really freak my parents out!). When I'd get home, I couldn't pet him for a few hours because he just ran and ran and ran. By the time I crawled into bed, he'd finally settle down, come into my room and purr and purr and purr...

I also recall my former cat Winky. One time I was out of town for a full week and had friends checking in on him. When I got home, he followed me everywhere. I finally went to bed and he curled up with me and purred. I woke up a few times throughout the night and everytime I woke up, he was still snuggled up next to me purring loudly. I miss him.
