Okay, cool! I guess I'll just let everyone know a little about our wedding. We've been engaged for several months now, and I've set a date tentatively and started planning. September 18, 2009!! One year from tomorrow We're thinking of having an evening wedding and a fun dessert reception afterwards.

Hi MeaganRenee! You can surely jump in. When 09 comes around a new thread can be started but in the meantime...

Congratulations! Ooooh. Dessert receptions can be dangerous. LOL. Yum!

I know it! And I'm having lots of dangerous ideas...Chocolate fountains, a candy "bar", cookie table, etc. I think I'm going to have some fruits and cheeses also for those who don't care for sweets as well as some sugar free goodies for those who can't (or don't want to) have sugar.

We had a dessert reception also, and if we had had more time to plan, I would have loved to incorporate some of your yummy ideas!

Our babies will end up being half Japanese NG. lol

Oh the candy bar. I also thought about doing that too but I didn't. Didn't really need to for our reception. They got the nice favors instead. Ha.

Ok...so I need to get back in the loop! Who is getting married and what is the date? If you don't have a date yet but are engaged, let me know and I'll throw you on the list too.

Trish....pics are GREAT! Lisa should have the pro site up with all the wedding pics by the end of the weekend. Once it is up, I'll put the link on here.

There are some other pics on my myspace page too (follow the link in my signature). There are a ton of honeymoon pics too!

I don't think we'll end up doing all of the ideas I listed. Maybe one or two. I was thinking of having a candy bar and little boxes, so people can create their own favors. We're thinking that this option will save us some money (hopefully). But right now we're really just tossing ideas around.

Fluff- my FMIL just started her own catering business with chocolate fountains, and yes chocolate fountains can be a big, messy pain in the rear. But it's a fountain of chocolate...how can I pass it up

I know lol

I was thinking about getting those decorated fortune cookies and getting clear tiny take out boxes as favors... since he proposed with a giant fortune cookie I figured that might be awesome for favors...

I was looking at the local sale papers today and I am going by the craft stores and seeing what happens :)

When I first seen the Giant fortune cookie I thought it was fake...but it was soo good... I have never tasted the dipped chocolate ones but I have heard they are very good so I have been trying to find deals on them but I was thinking about either buying fortune cookies and dipping them and decorating them myself and save alot of money... Or maybe even do This ?

yes I am talking about ones like This

Oh my goodness fluff! You sound super busy. I'm not anywhere near that point yet, but I'm sure I will be soon It's awesome that you are able to do the fortune cookies yourself, I'm sure you're saving a bunch of money.

Right on fluff!

Glad to see the newlywed group slowly forming. Ladies, let's really get to know each other there. How about blogging an intro for yourself? Thoughts, prayers, etc...

Well, we're ready to find a ceremony site and reception site. Our church is too small, and it's still in a strip mall :) We're thinking of switching churches soon too. But I don't know when that will happen! We would like to get married in a church and we definitely don't want an outdoor wedding. So many churches require that you be a member to use thier church, and I understand that. We're just in a tough spot right now.

Megan,

Some churches might allow you to use their church/pastor, especially if among the same denomination. When I worked at a church in AR, non-members were allowed to marry there, but the pastor required that HE give the ceremony (along with the premarital counseling). You might want to just start calling around. Smaller churches may be more accomodating (depending on what size wedding you want).

I find it interesting that you have to be a member. They could at least charge you something. That would be better than not being able to period. Makes you feel oh so part of the community of believers doesn't it? lol Sorry.

I know some churches do it for the fact that so many couples want to get married there that the facility is a high demand. I think the more important reason is to ensure accountability of the couple to ensure they are actively involved in the Body.
