I love Kirklands! This came from HomeGoods, I could spend hours in there!

Jen- Cute piece. It looks great where you have it and with your other decor.

Jess- I just looked at the before and after pix of your kitchen. It looks great! Was Paul pleased with it? Did you ever get around to finishing the bench and posting pix? Sorry if I missed it- I was on vacation last week and catching up on threads has been hard.

Paul does like the kitchen!!
It still needs a second coat of paint on the doors, and then the knobs need to be put on, and the trim needs to be painted white/freshened up.

The bench did get finished and I posted pics, but HERE it is. I have added a crystal knob to the drawer, it looks quite cute

A couple weeks ago I got an awesome mirror at Pier 1 for 75% off... I need to take a picture of it to show you all. I just love it!! It's in our bathroom and goes so well!

Bethany- Your home is lovely. I just love all the furniture with rounded lines.

Doinkdom- Did you get your room rearranged? How did it turn out?

Yolanda- Did you get that smoke smell out of your cushions? How's the remodel going?

I love it! Thanks for reposting. I've been reading your blog (and have enjoyed getting to know you through it,) so I don't know how I missed it.

well, about that

I have decided to delay the gratification and save for a new sofa and chair/s. I will be selling our current sofa and that jumbo recliner when I get closer to having the amount we need.

I actually drew out the new room - it's at home, but I'll bring it in tomorrow and see if I can post it.

today we spent all day painting the kitchen (yes, still!!!). We took a break for a while when we ran out of white paint and had to get more. Today though we painted all day long and finally got enough coats on everything that it looks good!!! Still waiting on a good sunny day to finish up the doors (just a few left and I have to fix some scuffs on some since Paul has been moving them around over and over again). Then tomorrow we are going to tape off the trim and moldings and make sure there is a crisp line there on the edges. Then we are DONE!!!!! Well...for now. Next month when we get the tax rebate money we are going to hit the counter tops...get rid of the tiles that are there (six inch tiles that are cream colored) and put in some nicer ones that are grouted the RIGHT way. The stupid person (yes, I said STUPID person) that put these in put about 3/4-1 inch of grout between the tiles...and it is a pain to try to clean!!! Anyway, once we do that then we will be done with the kitchen....but the painting should be done tomorrow!!!! (hopefully!!)

I did some painting on Saturday, too. I fixed the nicks and scuffs on the corners and trim in the rooms that weren't recently repainted. Those rooms have yellow walls and white trim, so I used a little of both. Last week, I used a grout pen to whiten all of the grout in the kitchen backsplash. The tiles are bright white, but the grout was not. All better now.

After 2 months in our home, we are now completely unpacked and decorated. New pics are up in my MySpace blog (link in sig below).

Lookin' good, Bethany! (And may I say that that purple is a good color for dh? It works with his coloring and pops off the page!)

Sarah, I'm confused about what you are painting! Your walls are chocolate and red and you just finished your cabinets... what are you painting?

I haven't done any decorating recently. The next thing that we're going to do to our home is pressure wash it! It needs a thorough cleaning since it didn't get done last year. We had a drought. I don't think that counts as decorating!

we aren't painting anything red...the kitchen is white and kind of mocha colored....white for the cabinets, trim, and below the chair rail....mocha colored walls above the chair rail.

I guess I'm confused about the coke stuff and have more red in your kitchen than there actually is. I had in my mind that below chair rail was red and above mocha.

LOL...red is my accent color....throughout my whole house pretty much (minus the living room cause the couches we were given are a Christmas green color and using red in there makes it too Christmassy all year long, so instead I use greens in different shades in there...lime green right now cause it's bright and cheery for the dark green of the couches). Most of the accents in the kitchen when I am done are going to be black (like the stuff that hangs on the walls...the bottles of coke of course are black, etc)....with red thrown in in little splashes...pops mostly. Our coffee maker is red, I have some coca cola signs that are red...things like that. We are going to try to find a table to go in the kitchen and if we do then I will probably do something red there with it in some way.

I have a question.
We live in an apartment that has cement walls. Any suggestions on how to hang pictures and stuff on the cement walls. They are like cinder blocks.
Thanks in advance

My dad used this putty stuff when he hung stuff on cinder block walls. Not sure how much weight it could take, but he put up a few picture frames with it.

I think he got it at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Thanks! He would be thrilled to hear you say so. Purple is his favorite color because it's the team color of his beloved alma mater, TCU. He is loving the purple wall in the office of our home - I think he's still a little surprised I agreed to it so readily! (And his college buddies are all jealous - I got lots of "wife points" for that. )

P.S. The most recent two blog entries are new, not just the one at the top of the list.
