But as my dad used to say,"every day is children's day". As a kids I just stared at him. As an adult, I understand. BTW, my daughter and her sweetheart are taking us to a brazilian steak house...all the meat you can eat until you can't eat no more.

So, Cloak, Happy Juneteenth, Father's Day, Flag Day, Queen's Birthday, America's Cup Week, Graduation Month, Wedding Month, Dairy Month. And I am sure there are more holidays we can talk about, but maybe these will do for now.

From Wiki, regarding Juneteenth: quote:
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is an annual holiday or holiday observance...[c]elebrated on June 19....However, some...states...do not consider it a legal holiday and do not close government offices in observance of the occasion. Its informal observance has spread to some other states, with a few celebrations even taking place in other countries. As of June 2008, 29 states[6] have recognized Juneteenth as either a state holiday or state holiday observance; these include Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Delaware, Idaho, Alaska, Iowa, California, Wyoming, Missouri, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Colorado, Arkansas, Oregon, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Vermont and North Carolina, as well as the District of Columbia. So that's a good day to celebrate -- even in Canada! And so is Car2ner's Friday the 13! Think I'll celebrate it by not cooking dinner tonight hee-hee!

Abiyah I don't believe I've heard of juneteenth before. Interesting! I remember David McDowell used to have a thread somewhere, where he listed what was being observed on that day. There was something being observed every single day. Who knew?

I read fast and fill in the blanks, so no, I didn't notice. It's like correcting people when they say something happened yesterday when it really was the day before, it doesn't matter to the story.
