ORIGINAL: zmanfan38 I hear you all about injury prone phenoms. Kerry Wood was on the DL all the time and now he's our closer. He's doing really well so far too. I wondered if he'd really be able to go from opening day starting pitcher to closer, but he's taking the role and running with it...just doing his best and doing well. Wonder if Hampton would do better in a role like that? Not throwing so many pitches at a time. We need some way to justify the obscene amount of money we are paying him to be hurt.

ORIGINAL: noblesinger If first starts are any indication of how the rest of their seasons will go, then the Reds have a couple of swell young arms on their roster. First, it was Johnny Cueto fanning 10 batters over 7 innings in his very first start, then in yesterday's game, Edison Volquez struck out 8 in his 5-1/3 innings. And the Reds are playing some good baseball so far this season. Junior got HR No. 594 for his career yesterday, they've had some key late inning hits, and the bullpen has done a great job of keeping things relatively close - except for Friday night. I'm still guardedly optimistic, but that's better than being pessimistic! Duane Don't count on it. The Enquirer on Monday had a graphic showing the Reds' record after the first week of the season over the last 5 or 6 years. Every year they had a nice record -- 4-2, 5-1, etc. And every year they ended up the season with a losing record.

I thought they were supposed to be good this year. I work at a sports radio station and we carried White Sox/Tigers sunday night and the Tigers were playing very half-heartedly. Hopefully Leyland got after 'em after the game.

I was just wondering how may different MLB teams you guys have seen live. Here's my list. Braves, Phillies, Reds, Rangers, Yankees, Orioles, Cubs, Brewers, and next month the A's.

Wow, let's see, the Mets, of course. And Yankees, Phils, Nationals, Expos, Cubs, Pirates, Red Sox, Cardinals, Padres, Dodgers, Braves. I think that's everybody.

I can't imagine I've missed too many teams.

I miss them. The Nationals just aren't the same. A few Braves announcers still called the the Expos til just last year. My wish list inclued the Padres, Mariners, Pirates and Marlins since hometown boy Josh Willingham plays for them.

I am not sure what is going on with my yanks right now. They took two out of three from The Jays and took 2 out of four from the D-Rays but one game we got smoked 13-3. And we just lost to the Royals. But it is still early though

I've seen my beloved Reds twice in Cincinnati; once against the Pirates (1971), and once against Bill's Mets (1980). They had Dave "Kong" Kingman with them at the time, and he hit a grand salami to help beat the Reds. I remember that game especially, because it was the only time that my grandmother and I got to see a game together. I also went to the College Football Hall of Fame on that trip, since it was still located out next to Kings Island. That was pretty cool! Duane

I was visiting a friend in western Mass. one time and he said "you know the Baseball HOF is only a few hours away". So we went and it was the BEST time I have ever had in a museum/HOF. And Cooperstown is awesome because everything is baseball themed. If i lived anywhere besides Alabama, it just might be Cooperstown.

I watch pro wrestling (i know, i know...) and most of them came off the juice and it hasn't been the same.
