Because AF signs start with spotting for some, CD1 is the considered the first day of red blood. I'm probably a few days early, because I'm not sure when I ovulated this month, but I'll probably test tomorrow. :-)

I think it depends on the length of your cycle, say if it's 28 days, then start around day 10, 29 day 11, and so on. I think they say test twice a day... but I've never used OPKs.

Has anyone ever had a cycle that was like a yoyo? One day my temp is 96.64, the next it is 97.06, then down to 96.68, then up to 97.31, then down again to 96.55. I have no clue what to make of it, it is supposed to be CD15 today, last month I ovulated on 12 and this month my temp didn't drop until around CD8, only to bounce up and down every other day. I'm so confused.

Mine are like that in the very beginning (I am nursing, so that might make temps weird) of my cycle, then they sort of even out when I'm getting closer to ovulating. Mine were also like that, rollercoaster-like, when I was anov. Very annoying.

Ariella, I would probably look into the meds that hubby is on, and see if they affect sperm at all... since you seem to be saying that it can affect other aspects. It is sometimes helpful (and you are right, it never hurts) to talk to his doctor about it.

I think it would be beneficial to start charting now, just to find and address any potential problems before ttc. By the way, we tested yesterday and as of now, it looks like we're pregnant. The test line was lighter than the control line but definitely there. Right now, I'm just having mild cramping, like pre-AF, no other symptoms, unless you count constant yawning. :-p We're thrilled! I'm just a little nervous on how to proceed from here. When should we make an appointment?

When should we make an appointment? You should be able to go in and get a blood test at the docs office pretty easily. Do you already have an OB in mind?

I assume we'll use the main hospital in town, and I'm pretty sure there's an English speaking doctor there. I just know that we'll have to ask someone to go with us to translate, and don't want to look silly for going too soon,

It's just your uterus accomidating the new precious blessing.

Thanks! It's amazing how something so tiny can already be stretching the uterus. Will it last the whole pregnancy?

With my first pregnancy we called at six weeks and because we "left it so late" they had trouble fitting us in with the midwife. They might not want to see you right away but they'll sure be glad to book the appointment well in advance. Depending on what country you're in of course. FunBetty, I tracked for several months before marrying, and before we started TTC. I found it helpful to get to know my cycle better; I didn't even realize I had some PMS until I started tracking. It's especially helpful if you wind up finding something that might require treatment in order to successfully TTC (eg a short luteal phase). The other benefit is that once you do start TTC, the charting is already habit so it doesn't feel like you're being more deliberate about it than you were before, if that makes sense.

Oh I feel like I have some PMS, all right. I cried all day yesterday. lol. I think I'm just having to adjust to so much at once - marriage, stepdaughter, new job. I'm due to start TOM in the next day or so...is it best to start tracking then? Should I just track temps? Oy, I'm such a n00b.

So today my temp went the same direction as it did yesterday. This is the first time all cycle where the temp has done that. Tina, I would start tracking tomorrow morning if I were you. I tried doing the paper chart that came with the thermometer at first, but I was REALLY bad at writing it in, especially on the weekends when I was waking up long enough to temp, and going back to sleep. My thermometer saves the last temp for me, and I use fertility friend online to keep track of the temps. It being online really helps me personally, since I'm usually online anyway.

I went to the grocery store, and they did not have any basal thermometers. Grr. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow to get one. I haven't started yet, anyway, so if I don't start by tomorrow I'll wait on temping.

Annointed Archer - Congratulations! How awesome! Question - So I am pretty sure I O today time wise. Then I had some mucus, so I am thinking OK, that is on track too. Is it too late to be together when you have mucus? Or is that preparing for what is going to happen?

The best time to be together is when you have fertile mucus. It's an indicator of the hormones that induce ovulation, and the best way for your DH's little men to travel. :-) I've heard differing opinions as to what's best - sex a few days before O regardless of mucus, or sex whenever you have fertile mucus, even if that's the day of or after! Go at it every other day just to cover all your bases.
