Yes, the doctor's office (someone there, don't really remember if it was the nurse, PA or the doctor) gave us the brochure. I just looked it up. Yeah, we won't be buying from them. It was $210.00 for 90 day supply, discount of $30 from dr. referral= 186.95. Not gonna happen. David said he would rather take 5 - 10 pills several times a day than to pay that. So, we'll have to shop around and see what we can find.

Can you find out what is in it and take the list to a good vitamin/supplement store and price it there? Or maybe they have their own men's fertility mixture?

yeah, the brochure has what the active things are in it, and at what level... so that's what we intend to do. Go vitamin shopping.

I know guafanesin (Robitussin or Mucinex are the brand names) also increases CF. Does anyone know whether that is approved to use for cases like this? I know I have done some reading which has indicated that it can help when trying to conceive.

Mucinex is available in pill form...not that taking pills is any fun either. This is the first I've heard of grapefruit juice increasing CF. I think I'll stick with pills or cough syrup. For me, the cough syrup actually doesn't taste that badly. DH & I both take a good multi-vitamin. We're praying that will help as well.

After a couple days the Robitussin/Mucinex (I tried both) made me start feeling bad. What worked best for me was Evening Primrose oil in capsules. I took them from AF until O every month. You shouldn't take them after ovulation because it may cause some cramping. Anyway, it worked better for me than the Robitussin anyway. I did do grapefruit juice and lots of water also. OH - we did PreSeed too. I wish it didn't come in those individual little things and that it was less expensive, but it is definitely the way to go if you need a little something extra to help.

ORIGINAL: Room2Grow Well, it seems to be a period, so I guess that's good and bad... I'll have to hope that having a *very happy* Easter will do the trick. I was hoping to avoid another one so close to Christmas, but at this point I don't care anymore... How did that *very happy* Easter go?!?! Forgive me if I'm being too nosey. I was thinking of you today & wondering how things were going for you, Jennifer. As for me, I just had laparoscopic surgery on Friday (the 18th). I'm recovering well now (had cysts, etc. removed). Fallopian tubes are open. I was never so happy to see BLUE running through something before Doc has advised that we wait a couple of months (at least 2 cycles) before actively trying to conceive. DH will be gone for 4 weeks beginning shortly, we'll probably start trying once he gets home. Doc does seem to think I have PCOS. No treatment for now--just waiting & seeing, I suppose. Anyway, I need to get to bed as DH is already there. He's back to work tomorrow. I'm still home recuperating from surgery for a few more days.

I really believe the HSG is what helped us conceive. We got pregnant the cycle of the HSG, right afterwards, since it appeared I had a slight blockage. I'm not an expert, but unless you are taking specific treatments (meds that could affect the conceived baby) I dont see the point in not trying. Maybe take a break from meds (we took a break from Clomid) or not chart or use OPKs or something but abstaining or using barriers I really just dont get. Just an afterthought...could it have something to do with the surgery? Maybe it would not be advisable to get pregnant right afterwards, I have no idea, maybe someone else can weigh in there.

That's my thinking---I don't want more cysts to form that will need to be removed at a later date!!! My surgery was laparoscopic. Doc said the other day I am healing well. I believe I've finally stopped bleeding, but I do still have some pain. That (pain) was the case before surgery & will most likely continue until I'm healed. I seriously doubt if DH and I want to wait the 2 cycles. It's just the concern of causing further harm/damage to my body....

Ovarian cysts are all that I have been told. I do know the doctor ordered a pathology report, so hopefully that will tell me more. How long do those usually take? I know with my biopsy it was a week. Today will be a week since surgery so maybe I should call the doctor office to ask if the report is back. The cysts didn't look large at all....just lots of them....

They likely took a while to build up to the level they were before the surgery, so the next few months should be good for you to try. I forget...did you have a lot of pain from your cysts?

I had pain, yes. The doc wasn't sure if it was from the cysts or the fibroid he found. I believe the fibroid is also gone?

You may be surprised at the lack of pain (or rather...only the surgical pain vs. the pain you had before). I was totally astounded at how good I felt without those pesky things growing on my ovaries! Praying the cleaning out worked and that you'll conceive in God's perfect timing.

BTW, I *just* read through the last couple pages of the PCOS thread. I wasn't subbed because I don't have PCOS, so I know nothing about it other than what I have learned through women here. Sorry...

my doctor also recommended that we wait atleast 1 cycle before trying to conceive... although he would have preferred 2. He also told me that if I wasn't pregnant within 6 months, we could come back and start other medical intervention type of treatments. I wanted at least 1 regular period before trying, so we didn't specifically try that first cycle... which took 8 weeks to come along, and then we started trying again. The doctor told me that it was due to what they did while during the surgery that he wanted us to wait. It made perfect sense to me. =) Personally, I would wait until atleast after the 1st regular period you have (not the post surgery bleeding) and then see how it goes. =)

Well, the post surgery bleeding seems to have finally stopped. Yay!!! (And right on that week mark the doctor talked about....hmmmm). I just can't believe that I bled for so long. It just seems long because my regular periods aren't that long (usually 3 or 4 days, maybe 5). Well, that & the fact that I had to use pads instead of tampons (didn't want to risk infection). I can't wait to get back to "normal". Still having a tad bit of pain, but otherwise I'm pretty good today. I'm not really tired at all!

I'm a tad aggravated & confused here... From every discussion I have had/read here....I would think that a doctor would treat PCOS, rather than do nothing. The doc was going to put me on a birth control (low dose...yaz, I believe)....as that will prevent ovulation & thus prevent cysts. But since we're TTC....no BC is his advice. Huh? He won't prescribe anything else either (asked about both Clomid & Metformin & was told that those are drugs to treat infertility....um...hello....we've been TTC for a year now & we're not pregnant. Last I knew that was the medical definition of infertility.) Wants to see me again in 2 mos...July 7th. I DON'T want more cysts...do NOT want more surgery. Bought some cinnamon caplets...trying to watch what I eat. Anything else I can do?

BC pills are really just like slapping a bandaid on a big gash...not gonna do anything for you to get pg and is only a 'temporary' relief...if it even works. It's not that much of a hassle to go and see a new doctor even if it's only for 3 months until you move. Some proper medical help is better than nothing.
