Ah self-control, that is what it is all about isn't it? Recently, I had a very cool woman tell me that I was one of the 3 most disciplined people she know. I told her that the reason I was so disciplined is because I really struggle with self control. Moderation is not a word I use in talking about myself. I must remain very disciplined or I flail the other way, qucikly. Jenn, it is hard to eat healthy on little money. A couple of things that help is to buy in season and look at lentils and beans. I make a crockpot full of stewed lentils that will feed my husband and I 4 rather large meals. We eat have and freeze half. That helps with having two littles. Also, they are so yummy. Another huge thing is I no longer eat until I am full. I stop well before that. No more bloated, yucky, I shouldn't have done that feeling. Bettymack, would it be okay? That really depends on the person. Most people cannot keep themselves to the two tablespoons. To be very blunt, I have known so many who struggle with weight loss. To my observations, the people that said they deserved a treat every now and then or if they deny themselves they would over indulge almost never lost the weight. The ones that really lost the weight and kept it off were the ones that kept themselves very disciplined for 99% of the time. It is not true that you can't deny yourself. You actually can but it is really really hard at first. But after 3-4 weeks, yes it is a long time, it becomes a lifestyle change. The other day I had some M&M's from Halloween. I cannot tell you the last time I had candy, cookie, ice cream, etc. It made me absolutely sick. I was thrilled. But still sick, yuck. [:'(] Here is where my head is at, nothing tastes as good as fit and healthy feels. Nothing. That is the bottom line. I am almost 38 years old and I have not felt better since my teens. I am running, working out, playing hard with my kids, doing everything as a woman, wife, and momma that I could ever dream of doing. I have so much energy. I eat foods that taste INCREDIBLE. Now that I rid by body of all that processed stuff, real food tastes soooooo good. I had some fresh pineapple the other day that was so good I almost wanted to rub in on my skin to aborb it faster. So that is my opinion, eat fresh, healthy food, get plenty of exercise, sunshine, fresh air, and laughter. There is no ice cream sundae in the world that tastes better than that.
