LOL! That's funny! I took notes from the show, and then realized that a lot of it would be on Oprah's website. [8|] This is what I got (sorry for the messiness as I spent too much time on this already). I highlighted my concerns in red. Oprah opens by saying, “It’s Not a new religion or doctrine”. "It's about connecting to your spirit/your soul. You can’t live your best life without being connected to your spirit." "How to quiet your mind, put your ego in check, how to be fully present in this moment now." A big point was helping your Ego. Jim Carey - Says, “Echart’s philosophy is the present moment is all we have, all there is and all there will be. WHAT!!!!? Oprah says she gets a lot of “Will it interfere with my religious belief’s?” It’s not a belief system, it’s a sweetner or adding honey to the pot. References the book “A Seeker’s Guide”. Oprah.com for “A Seeker’s Guide” The Author says, “Spirituality is a longing and that we sense there is a longing for more. Religion grew up around those deep question’s“. [:@] Lay Minister: Said it made her look at Jesus Christ differently. She found a deeper meaning than Jesus just dying on the cross for her sins. From Oprah.com, A New Earth has also shown Margit a different way of looking at Jesus Christ. "I've always tried to find a deeper inner connection with the purpose that Christ had here on earth," Margit says. "All my life, I thought it was just for him to die on the cross for my sins. But I now recognize that Jesus actually taught me Christ consciousness. To be fully human is to be Christ-like." THIS LAST STATEMENT GETS ME! I DON'T like this because not all human's are Christ-Like. But, I guess this is the lady's comment and not out of the book...hum Oprah says she is Christian too and that she thinks he came to show us how “to be” (Christ consciousness). Jenny McCarthey : Learning more about the present gave her peace. “The only peace you can ever find is in the now. In this moment right here. As soon as my thoughts go out to tomorrow—I'm worried about this bill I have and I need to pay off, or my mortgage, or Evan's behavior or medicines—I am unconscious," she says. "If I come right back to the present, which is me sitting in this chair and I'm talking to you, there's peace." Kadida Jones: From Oprah's site: During the Chapter 3 class of Oprah and Eckhart's Web class, Kidada Jones, daughter of legendary music producer Quincy Jones, asked a question that resonated with many people. "This book hits me really, really deep in my heart, and I know it to be the truth, but I have such resistance. And I feel like if everything in form is an illusion, it feels really disenchanting," she said. "I'm at a point in my life where I have goals, I'm excited about my career, I want to have kids, I want to meet a great partner. If it's all illusion, where is the fun?" Oprah says she was afraid she and Eckhart did not fully answer that question, but Kidada says the answer became clear during the class on Chapter 4. "I would have to say that his very specific instructions of feeling the subtle body breathing, paying attention to nature…those very specific instructions brought a space into my life that I haven't experienced," Kidada says. "Within the space came all of these gifts—compassion, patience, newfound oneness. All of my time kind of slowed down. Everything just kind of had brakes. When I pay attention to those very specific directions, it's a whole new reality for me." Penny, dying from cancer: Penny says she used to obsess about her fear of dying, but after reading Eckhart's explanation of eternal life, she says she has a completely new outlook on her life. From Oprah's website: During the Chapter 4 class, Eckhart explained why he does not fear death. "The ego has dissolved, and so only the ego fears death," he said. "I know there is no death. Usually when people talk about immortality, they use certain arguments, perhaps from physics. They say the energy never gets destroyed. Energy can only become transformed. So the vital energy that is your life, because energy cannot be destroyed, must survive in some form. That is often the argument for the survival of that life—there is no death. Only the form dissolves." Penny says she now no longer struggles with depression and anxiety. She's just excited to live! "I planned a trip to Vegas. Even when I bake a pie now I smell it, I feel the dough. I know my body's crumbling. I'm out of energy a lot, and it's probably happening. But at the same time, it doesn't scare me." NO!!! SO WRONG if you aren’t SAVED! Captain in Army says: dealing with the present moment and stress. Wrote on card: Be Aware that what I think create the way I feel rather than being my thoughts and emotions. Telling myself thoughts or naratives may be bad other than facts. Jenny with a troubled marriage: Seperated after a year, husband changed over night. Angry, self pity, and it helped see the relationship differently. Instead of acting in anger like her husband she acted different. Helped her to see that they were “two pain bodies sitting in the same kitchen”. Sorry this wasn't put together very well, I need to give my family some attention.
