I've always liked kids, but I think I've gotten better with them since my now 4-year-old cousins came along...

They just scare me. I babysat Jared's little sister once. It was the first and last babysitting job I ever did. That kid has way more energy than someone of her age should have. 0.o
The good news? Jared's great with kids. He's the only one who can make that girl behave.

I'd rather be married after 25.........Jumping out of your mamma's house and right into a marriage seems like you'd be forfeiting your independence.
I want to get out, establish my career and my life to where I am completely independent and then I'll think about exchanging vows with someone. Young marriages do not last....there are some rarities, but even the "strong in faith" have problems and split.

I really don't have much of a desire to be independent and on my own. I love living with my family, not just for financial reasons, but because I enjoy the company. And I already pay for my cell phone, gasoline, car insurance, and every desire or necessity except most of my food; so I'm half-way independent as it is.
The idea of starting towards this great career, then getting married and having kids to put an immediate halt to that career; and then having to take a bunch of steps back to return to that career seems like a waste of time to me.

I see what you're saying. But as for me, when I get married, I'm going to know for sure that he's the one I'm going to be with for the rest of my life and that He's the one God created specifically for me. And he'll feel the same way. So divorce would be nowhere in that picture.

I just get annoyed with today's youth who think they have to be married just because.....

My grandparents got married when my grandmother was 17, my grandfather 19, and they've been married for 47 years. So I wouldn't say all young marriages don't work...

everyone who's saying young marriages rarely work are basing it off of the present statistics, not the statistics of 50 years ago.
my grandmother was married two months after she turned 17, and they are still married. That was the times back then.

Just because statistics say something doesn't mean that will happen to you. If God's in charge, and the young couple is seeking His will, that marraige won't become such an awful statistic.

OK then, there was a couple that used to go to our church that got married when the girl was 17, and the guy 18, and that was only 1-2 years ago.

lol this has turned into a debate.
that's one-two years. the average young marriage lasts for 5.
I'm not against it for everyone. If that is absolutely GOD's will then there's nothing to worry about. But if you don't seek God before saying "i do" I just don't think it's a good idea......
And I never said that ALL of them fail, I said 'most'.
Another interesting fact is that the cause of divorce is usually finances. It's even in God's word that finances should be taken care of. I don't know about anyone else but my parents aren't paying for college, so they sure aren't paying for a wedding(no matter how small, weddings cost money). There is the cost of living to take into consideration as well. Then when you have children I hope somebody has a good paying job or a good financial plan, because children are expensive as well.
It's not just being "independent" and "free" it's making sure you're stable enough to take care of your family. This doesn't necissarily count for all the women, because the man is traditionally the bread winner.
I believe God has unique plans for everyone, so timing and age varies.
SEEK GOD
Be honest about how God responds.
Don't get married just because you think you should.
Don't seek people to complete you.
don't expect marriage to be easy.
Think ahead, not just about the present.
As for me, I feel God is having me wait.

my gramaw grew up extremely country but well she got married at 16 and he was 19....they had tough times but they loved each other...they weren't christian when they got married but became saved after my dad got saved at 22 and also his brother did later. they went through hard times in they're marriage but like i said they truly loved each other. my gramaw is now 64....my papaw died 14 years ago, two months before i was born. My gramaw still loves him and thinks of him fondly even though he's dead. i believe that if you TRULY love the person it will work out. of course you have to have God in the marriage...
