OK, that officially makes my head hurt!

I'm glad you all understand it!

But the article was quite a laugh!

I hadn't either! Cockney (so I've read) stems from code used by criminals so that the police wouldn't understand what was being said.
quote:

"Scarper lads! The police are coming" (scarpa flow = go)
Police?

Well you did ask!

You should hear some of the dialects from around the country...

Manda - I'm not really keeping up with Corrie right now, but I have some idea of what is going on. I'm just not sure what you are referring to when you say it's sad. Does it have to do with Maria/Tony/Carla? I know Carla was going to tell Maria about what happened, and that Maria wanted Tony to be the baby's godfather (she named the baby Liam right?)

You want to know how far behind we are? I just finished watching Tyrone and Molly's wedding! Mind you I'm about two weeks behind here. My husband laughs at me because I talk to the tv and tell all the characters what is going to happen to them. So when Molly made a comment about it being the happiest she's ever been I yelled "until you hop into bed with Kevin!" Dh just shook his head at me.

To the Americans?

Are you allowed to have British vehicles on your road? I just thought of that because Euty was asking about the mail trucks having the wheel on the other side, and I've seen one guy around my neighbourhood with his (car, not mail truck.)

Yes, they are allowed, but they're not common. Our system is VERY unfriendly to right side steering. Although, I did once see one go through the bank drive-through backwards!
