Ryanne, how much memory do you have? I'm looking at a Compaq Presario from Circuit City for $449. 120GB hard drive. Although there was a Toshiba 120GB at Best Buy last week for the same price, but I don't think it's on sale anymore.

We had a loooong morning at the doctor's office. Biruk had his checkup and Gebre had to have bloodwork. It was so weird--the student dr who was working with our regular doctor was only a year older than me. For some reason that makes me feel old. At some point, the professionals seeing my kiddos (and me) are going to be *younger* than me! Biruk was sooo great for the checkup part but then the poor baby had to have 4 shots and blood drawn. And the nurse missed his vein the first time. He came home plastered in bandaids.

Our consolation prize was a stop at Trader Joes. The boys got to pick treats--Asrat picked chocolate yogurt, Gebre picked chocolate milk, and I picked chocolate chips. And I grabbed some hummus and pita bread for Josiah.

My house is a total wreck and we haven't done school but I decided I'm "on break" for at least an hour.

I have 1gb of memory. It's enough, but not quite *enough* in the long run. I have a Compaq Presario V6719NR. The hard drive is 160gb.

Toshiba's are supposed to be pretty decent, a computer geeky friend of ours loves his.

They seem to be on sale pretty often, I bought mine during the tax return sales, lol.

Ah, I see. I'd like to have 2g memory, but I don't know if that's what I'll be able to get.

eta: ROFL! I just checked this computer because I couldn't remember -- it has 128MB RAM. I think I'll be OK with 1GB.

Klay's current favorite laptop brand (not counting Macs) is Lenovo - formerly IBM. Thats what we got. I cant tell you anything about the specs because thats his department so I let him choose, with very little input from me...I know he chooses well so thats fine by me!

Hmm, looking at Circuit City there is a Compaq very similar to mine, except 2gb of memory for $520, it's listed at $499 w/mail in rebate.

Erin- I am so glad to see you posting in this thread! Does this mean that you are officially a SAHW?

I just finished skating and have a million and one things to do around here. I need to dust, vaccum, wash sheets and towels, have a shower, etc.

We keep our computers for about 7 years, too. They get so frustrating at the end of their lives, but it could be worse... we could be without!

Nothing for poor bandaid boy??

I have a wicked sinus infection but am trying to fight it without going to the doctor. It's actually better than it was yesterday, but one whole side of my face feels bruised. Not doing a thing in this house because of that and I have to work at the school's fundraiser dinner. I am so not doing dishes today though...last time, I felt great and did them for 3 hours straight. This month, my belly is much bigger, so that will hurt my back big time, and then the sinus thing...no. Maybe I'll get to be the pie disher-outer.

Donna, this is going to sound like a really evil thing to do, but if you mix a little white vinegar with warm barely salty water and snort it up your nose several times it will probably clear your sinus infection up pretty quick. You could also do it with a Netti Pot. When I was having chronic sinus infections(they stopped when I moved to Colorado) that was the only thing that helped after almost a year solid of antibiotics.

Zippy, what kind of skating do you participate in?

I didn't get my morning exercise in and I'm really bummed. Gabby has been having a hard time with her teeth and she needed a nap right at 8am, which is when we usually walk. I can take her later this afternoon but I have to go alone, which is not nearly as enjoyable. On the upside, I dropped below my first goal this morning!

I think I'd rather just move to Colorado, Ryanne. Sorry...I know that would cause puking and that would not be good.

That would be bad, Donna. Nevermind

Zippy, that sounds like fun! What a nice way to get exercise, much better then the treadmill, lol.

It is fun... and challenging... and perspective changing. I have loads more respect for figure skaters... they really put a ton more effort into skating than it looks like.

My Auntie was a pro figure skater, she had the most muscular body I have ever seen on a woman outside of Gymnastics or Track and Field.

As long as you're supportive and encouraging (which you are), you're fine. Same as any of "us" posting in the working women's thread.

Erin, I didn't mean to imply you weren't welcome!! You are! If you move along, I'll feel like I ran you off. I just thought maybe I had missed the announcement that you were a SAHW and was curious.

We sure do! One thing I love to remind my hockey player friends is that skating one 4 minute routine requires more stamina than playing an entire period of hockey! Take that! LOL...I didn't realize just how great it was until I dropped 15 pounds of my baby weight thanks to it.

We were going to go grocery shopping earlier today but my friend called and asked me to look after her baby so I did that.

She has asked me to look after her daughter for two days a week when she goes back to work. Today she brought up the idea of payment. I'm so happy she did it, I would have felt uncomfortable. But she said since she can't really afford to pay me money (hence her going back to work) she is going to cash in her Air Miles for things like gas and grocery cards. I thought that was a great idea. I'll probably say to get all gas cards since the price isn't going down and Dh does a lot of driving to and from work, that will definitely help us out.

That's a great idea, especially if she has lots of miles to cash in

We got our rebate check yesterday...and I owe our housing office much less than I thought originally...like almost 300 dollars less...so I can use a few of the dollars to get some books I've been eyeballing, and birthday loot for Sissy and Wes...and maybe a small treat for myself LOL
