That's the weird thing - he says he's fine if I want to spend money on ME, but he doesn't want me giving it away to church or charity (especially church - he distrusts pastors in general when it comes to $). I even asked if he would be okay if I went without something I usually would spend money on and gave that. He said no way. Well, I know with God all things are possible, so I am trusting that He is working in hubby's heart and mind.

ORIGINAL: frazzledmom Have you ladies ever felt limited in your availability to serve God because of the mismatch? For example, if you wanted to go on a mission work project somewhere, how would your spouse feel? Sometimes I feel like God will never use me. I can't speak for the other ladies frazzled, but I don't feel that is necessarily true at all for me. Even though my sweet hubby and I are not on the same page, spiritually speaking, he is (and always has been) very supportive of my involvement in church activities or service work. Granted I've never gone on some long-term mission trip (nor have I ever felt led to) but I have participated in service opportunities that took me out of town/state for more than just the day. I've taught Sunday School, chaperoned youth service trips such as clean-up in the Miss. Gulf Coast area following Katrina, sang in the choir, worked with Habitat, served on committees, helped develop a Code of Conduct for any adults working with children/teens (and attended seminars providing information for such a task) and then conducted training sessions on that code for volunteers...and through it all, my husband has supported me completely. He has never tried to 'talk me out of' any of it, never complained when it meant that dinner was take-out or that time that could have been spent together was lost to these things, and if I felt a desire or leading to do one of those things and one or both of my children couldn't be included then he willingly stepped up to take care of them. So, at least for me, I don't feel that is an issue. He may not feel that such involvement is what he wants for himself, but he supports me...not so much for what I'm doing but because I'm his wife. Am I a lucky girl or what?

Great news! My hubby went to see one of his new customers today to treat the property for carpenter ants, and it was a church here in town. He spoke with the pastor who invited us to come to church. And, my hubby asked him if they have child care (LOL, hubby knows me too well) and they do! So, we're going this Sunday by request of my hubby! I can't believe it!

WooHoo, ladies!!! I had *forgotten* about this thread, whoops! DH and I have came to some agreements about things...in other words I have done some soul searching/Bible diving and learned some interesting things. We still have one clash, but other than that...we're on the same page
