well to each there own. I have a sarcastic personality so I get Todds sarcastic quips but I also understand that not all people relate well to sarcasim.

I think we need to remember that Todd is a radio personality; from listening to some of his broadcasts in the past I would say that he meant well, but it is a radio station: I think it would be natural for him to be sarcastic to attract many who are listening. It's either that or people not really understanding the whole thing about spanking teenagers. One of the two, probably. Either way makes for an interesting discussion on radio personalities!!

I don't mind sarcasm. I like Rush Limbaugh (most of the time) and Mark Driscoll is one of my favorites as far as having a gift for preaching. I just think Todd takes it too far. And apparently doesn't have sensitivity about where and when to curtail it (which IMO says a lot about his personality).

For example, this whole Lakeland thing. I'm glad he's standing up and giving it the scruitiny it needs, but in this type of situation a little sarcasm goes a long way. IMO, what's going on in Lakeland is dangerous and potentially demonic. We need serious, reasoned responses that can be used to help people weigh the situation scripturally.

I've listened to about a week's worth of podcasts right now, and two more things really stood out to me.

One, he kept demanding that his staff go get him articles, find bible references, etc. I'm wondering, does this guy not have a computer in his sound room? That's like standard equipment for a talk show host. If he's looking for a bible reference he calls out for someone to dig through a concordance. Why not just go look it up on Bible Gateway or the Bible Study Materials here at Crosswalk? It's so simple and so fast.

Second...in the "man on the streets" section of the show, his tone and style of communicating totally changed. Instead of bombastic, his voice was soft. He asked insightful questions. He LISTENED and showed through his response that he had been listening to the speaker. He wasn't rude or sarcastic, he was empathetic (apparently).

So which one of these personalities is the "real" Todd?

Given two different situations, I would say both. A person is as "real" as they present themselves; remember, each person has different parts to them and not one or the other has more weight on them making them less or more real than the other. A doctor may be more serious at the office but more laid back if he's out on the field at someone's house and won't seem as serious there than in the office, but that doesn't make him less real than anything else. Now, granted, I haven't heard the parts you're talking about so I'm very relative here it when it comes to the discussion on Lakeland, but I'm sure Todd was no more serious than then he was when he was talking with people on the street. Again, some people react differently and in their own way when given different environments; I think either way, it shows more of their humanity. Of course, I'm not excusing anything on his part if he was wrong, but I think it's just what people interpret his actions and motives to be. The main issue: his heart. Was this all doing in the accord in which he was seeking to bring and lead people to Christ? That's a fair question to ask him about.

That's an interesting question. I was listening to Monday's show today (he said last week he ws going to be interviewing some guy from England regarding the manifestations at Lakeland, I don't think it was on Monday's show unless it was a part that I missed) and I was pretty amazed at the harsh line he was taking regarding repentance - it's not as much what he's saying as how he's saying it. What he says on the air is not what he would have said to that girl in the mall.

For those who are fans of the Way of the Master method, have you heard of the Deeper Conference that is coming up in October?

I would love to go to that, if for no other reason than to hear paul washer and ken ham.

Interesting....I'm sure that will be a real treat for those that will be in attendance. I'll try to get more info about it as it comes around; if I didn't have class (and had the money) I wouldn't mind going myself. I hope they have tons of Christians going to this event so that they can come out more mature and passionate about reaching the world for Christ.
