Happy Birthday Catherine Happy Birthday Trish (sorry its late) but I hope you both had wonderful birthdays! Diane have wonderful trip! I didnt go to college because I didnt feel that I was suppost to... I know it sounds crazy but I dont feel like its the place for me... I dont have anything I want to go for.... and so I dont feel the need to waste money just to say I went so people dont look down on me, which still happens today.... I dont believe college is for everyone... but I do feel that its good for those who are working towards something, its hard to get a job with out some type of degree...

I had a miserable middle school, and high school experience. Middle school was the worst though. Everything that those kids could do behind the teachers back they pretty much did to me. It was awful. Highschool was somewhat better... but then when I was just about to graduate I found out that a couple of my "friends" had never liked me, and talked about me behind my back a lot. On to college.... It could not have been a better experience for me. I had tons of friends, I loved learning, I was at a pretty college campus, it was a Christian college and so I grew a ton spiritually there as well, and it was almost all good. (I can't say totally, because things did happen that I wish I could have changed, but well, overall I would say I enjoyed about 95% of my college experience) It was wonderful for me. In high school they kept telling us how hard college was going to be, and how we should get all we could from high school to help us in college... probably true to an extent, but in reality college was easier than high school for me academically... except for maybe 2 classes. =) I may not be currently using my degree, but I would not trade those 4 years for anything under the sun. I do have school loans that I am still paying off, but it was still worth it. =) I know we weren't really talking about that.. but about how college isn't for everyone... but I just had to share that I loved college. =)

I found out more about the student that was shot and killed. He got home around 1:15am and accidentally walked into the wrong appartment. I'm not sure if it was because it was dark or if he hadn't been living there long, etc. Anyway, the people inside thought he was trying to rob them, so they shot him in the head and he died early in the morning. We didn't know he was a student here until later in the day though... long after the news started reporting it. I'm wondering how he just "walked into" the wrong apartment. I know a lot of people in the safer areas don't lock their doors, and I'm wondering if that's how he got in. Anyway, he was 23 years old, and I think he was a first or second year law student here. (Not pre-law, but actually law school.)

ORIGINAL: InBetweenDreams Gina, that is so awesome that you loved college like that! Tamara, that is sick. Couldn't they have at least let him realize he walked into the wrong place before killing him? People like that make me soooo angry. I feel terrible for his poor family. That has got to be a nightmare. When I was 6 I walked into the wrong townhouse. I was a my friends and walked into the neighbours place. I walked right to the back of the house before I realized I was in the wrong house. A kid looked at me all confused and then I just remember running out feeling totally confused and freaked out. I guess I wonder how it happened. I mean, if they were good enough to shoot him in the head, there might've been light enough to see he had no gun or weapon, or that he'd just made an honest mistake. But on the other hand, I've heard even police say that if you're going to shoot someone, aim to kill, not to injure. (Of course, they mean if you have a good reason to be shooting in the first place.) But then you get into when it's okay to start shooting. Is it okay just when the person comes into your home? I don't think it was forcefully; I think the people had their door unlocked. Plenty of people over there keep stuff unlocked. I bet the family is pretty shocked. Here's a short article about it. ETA: Maybe that's a good "Kicka" topic (when it's okay to kill).

Can I just say "Yuck!" Although I've heard of stuff like that happening. There was a guy on Oprah or something like that years ago. He was raised as a girl. They hadn't examined him very well at birth. He apparently had some skin covering his "pigeon" and they didn't notice it. So when he was reaching puberty and certain things started happening down there, mostly at night (please don't make me get more specific), they took him to the doctor and realized that he was a boy. They removed the skin that was covering it and must have had an interesting time trying to explain to his school. LOL The maid will get here Monday! Whoohoo! I'm glad she's coming while I'm on break so I can be home to show her where stuff is. Much easier than trying to give her instructions and then leaving. I'm looking forward to meeting her. She's in her mid-30's, widowed, with 2 children (who'll be staying with family). She's already worlds away from the last one. I made a cream cheese pound cake today. Yummy! But my strange oven had the outside too done trying to get the toothpick to come out clean. Oh, well, it's yummy anyway. 'Night, ladies!

Although I have to say, if I forgot to lock my door and woke up to a stranger in our apartment I probably wouldn't give him a chance to say "oh yea, this isn't where I live" unless he could say it faster then I can flip the light switch and fire otherwise you lose the element of surprise.

It's unfortunate to die that way... because you made an honest mistake. Although, I can't say I blame them for shooting him. It's just sad all-around. I was trying to see if I knew him; he's not in the picture book (I don't think they put grad students in there), but I found his facebook page. He looks familiar, but I'm not sure if that's because I've run into him or because most of the students favor each other after a while. People are writing some sweet stuff on his fb wall though. He was a handsome-looking young man.

ORIGINAL: Mrs.Wifey Lol. I don't want to go to college, I just want the degree. Isn't that why most people go? I don't know many people who truly enjoy the academic side of things... Lol...I'm one of those wierdos. I love school and would happily go for the rest of my life if only someone would pay me to do it. I had an awesome college experience- I was at a great school and made some lifelong friends. I hope Catherine and Trish had good birthdays!

When we moved into our last house our realtor told us that most people in town don't lock their doors. In fact some homes he showed us were not even locked. We always have our doors and windows locked. Nowadays an unlocked home is almost welcoming intruders.

That's sad about that guy Tami. The first good step would be for people to lock their doors, like you point out, Nicole. Ryanne, you can take a man out of the marines, but you can't take the marine out of the man, huh? I know, he's still in the reserves, this just seemed like a good opportunity to say it. I think spamming is only when you start multiple threads, not if you just mention something in chat that you have a thread about, so I think I can say this here (I started a thread in singles, but didn't get much sympathy). I was heartbroken today, because when I walked into the gym, and went to swipe my little thingy, I looked down at the counter, and there was a notice that they are closing in a month.

Hi Posting blind! We got home from church today and hubby got summoned for a car accident that happened nearly 3 years ago! He hit a guy who he worked with and was "mates" with, hubby was behind him, following, his friend took off, hubby took off without double checking, a car was coming, both had to slam on brakes but hubby hit him. He is saying he can't work, can't do recreational things etc (but he can, he just bought a new dirt bike, and his boss is my hubby's SIL uncle who we are VERY good friends with and we know that he has been working. Anyway, the insurance that we all pay with our licence could cover it unless they find something like my hubby was grossly negligent, which looking on the net he doesn't fit any of the things, and it wasn't 100% his fault, but hubby is FURIOUS! and says he wants to smoke and also wants to ruin this guys life and wanted to go punch his head in. This is NOT what we need, please pray for us?!!

Actually, I just looked back in my thread over there, and I am getting some sympathy, now. Finding a new gym, in my case is somewhat complicated. I wrote about it in the THREAD. What's weird is that I never knew until today, that my dad actually knows the owners. He knows the couple, but he never knew they owned that gym.
