ORIGINAL: stateofgrace Nice little vague shout out to the Doctor Who TV movie in the second-to-the-last Torchwood Episode. I kept hoping that they'd show San Francisco on the New Years eve broadcast, but of course the UK would be ahead of us here in the States. Still, Jack could have come in the next morning, laughing about how Y2K had been such a big deal, only to find his crew dead...and San Francisco celebrating the New Year's could have been on the TV in the office. Yeah, I caught that too. I was a little disappointed they didn't show San Francisco.

There are many things that bug me about this season of Torchwood. First was that, all dislike for homosexual relationships aside, there were multiple times when they ruined the pacing of an otherwise emotionally powerful episode just to have sexuality. It would have broken the pacing just as much to have a silly-string fight, or other unrelated non-sense, so why put anything in that ruins the progression of the plot? The other major thing that really bothered me was suspension of disbelief in *SPOILERS* Owen's undead state. I have no problem looking past all sorts of absurdity in Doctor Who. Stuff that isn't even remotely plausible. However, Torchwood has been trying to play it more serious, and they paid the price in not thinking things through. Want to make a person undead, with points about body temperature, no breath, permanent injury, etc. Fine, but play by the rules you create! The worst example of no thinking was stitching the cut in his hand back together. Why on earth would you want to make more holes, and make more holes every week with new stitches? Especially when there is a quick and easy solution that's already in use for sealing wounds in real medicine. Cyanoacryate, otherwise known as super glue. Glue is a lot better than stitches, and more hi-tech to boot. There were a lot of other points (i.e. how does he talk if he doesn't breathe?), but those don't bother me nearly as much since you've got to have a certain amount of absurdity in any sort of "Weekend at Bernie's" situation.

ORIGINAL: Charis2u The rumors over at Outpost Gallifrey said that Martha was going to be in Torchwood next season, and that Jack's role will be cut back some. How in the world can they cut back Jack's role and still have a compelling show? It's been all about Jack with everyone else being only secondary.
