...I don't think there are or ever have been many citizen of the USA who think of the bald eagle as an edible bird...

Unlike in Jewish thought, in the western mind an unclean bird would only be something like a buzzard or some other carrion eater. I don't see any connection.

But your point would be moot if Ben Franklin had had his way and the Turkey would have been chosen as the national bird.

Thanks Lapidoth! As you know, it's not been an easy ride for us, but here we are!

And this Friday is the Liberated Wailing Wall concert.

We will have a potluck dinner at 5, service starts at 6. We will have praise and worship music, read the book of Ruth, have special dance and a tambourine dance. It will be the first service in our very own building.

I don't know if they will do the all night study but I won't stay even if they do-dh has to work on Monday and I have a little one. It's not possible for me to do that.

Hi all. I discovered on line, Congregation Melech, Toronto Canada has a part-time on line radio station and broadcast their Shabbat services and heard small portions of the last 2 services and impressed with the liturgi. Anyhow they too were having the all-night Shabbat service, is that for the celebration of First Fruits? Question for Narnia. I have not been back to Hebrew4christians for a while, but saw some 8 to 10-year-old posts by their webmaster, John Parons, on the site run by Eddy Chumney, think its hebroots.org. Evidently he was just starting his days into the study of the Hebrew Scriptures and was exciting to read what was then, and compare to now, God has blessed him indeed to progress forward and present to any interested, material about our heritage as believers. Do you attend his congregation? I have been looking at the gospel commentary at Messianic Saltshakers in particular sermon on the mount in Matthew 5 through 7. I am all over the board here, trying to get my licks in for the week I guess, :) but as always, thanks for listening and any words offered are valued. Sorry, not up on things aviary.. Shalom to all of you til next visit. David

In today's world, old pal, that could be very fitting!

What's everyone doing Sunday night and Monday (if you celebrate Shavuot on Monday)? I am SO looking forward to it.

We observe Shavuot with an all-night Bible-study-schmooze. I am taking my camper to the shul, though, in case I don't make it and must get some zzzzzs. Oh, and food.

Just wondering how all of you do things.

I recognize all of the fourth commandment. So, I am going to do my best to rest on Shabbat, working on the first day of the week and then observing Shavaot on the second day. If others believe that we are permitted and not commanded to work six days that's fine. I just don't interpret it that way.

Unfortunately, the government has scheduled my son's graduation on Shabbat. So, I will be walking in, sitting down, listening, then standing up and walking out. I have made every effort to have everything ready for the graduation celebration before Shabbat. I guess, I can consider any work which I might have to do as mitzvot. I will be doing my best to study and discuss Torah as much as possible, but I'm not sure all of the friends and relatives will be interested. If it were up to me alone, I would have the celebration on the first day of the week, but one can not always control these things.
