I'm concerned about the 16 year old girl whose complaint started this rolling. They did not find her on the search of the ranch. It makes me worried, since there would be motive for retaliation of some sort.

Well-I hope the find the girl, too. And thank goodness those other girls they removed will at least have some chance for a semi-normal life with more than barely legal forced "marriages" to old disgusting perverts to look forward to.

I saw an interview with a former polygamist who said that is, indeed, a major draw for men. (This was a man speaking.)

In all my years browsing Christian Forums, I have never ONCE seen a female out here promoting polygamy. Or "arguing" for it as "another form of marriage".

Not hard to figure out exactly why that is. [:'(]

Though I can't imagine what is wrong with the mothers in these cults allowing their daughters to be subjected to that kind of abuse of their sexuality. It must be a form of brainwashing-because I can't think of one self respecting female who would tolerate it in their own lives, never mind subjecting their children to it.

Hi Wes,
Well-perhaps better terminology would be those "claiming" to be Christians. But you watch-every so often when the topic comes up here, all of sudden people we've never heard from before will log on, and start promoting the same old tired arguments. I don't know if they are regulars here who wouldn't dare post that POV under their known names, or if they are trolls from allegedly "Christian" polygamy groups who only log in to promote it.

No-I can't say as I've seen any "Christian" groups promoting polyandry-though I suppose they might be out there-I just haven't stumbled across them. We used to have a guy here....An alleged theologian, "swordman" or something like that, who used to post a pro-polygamy argument fairly regularly.

I watched the news late last night about this story after seeing it here. That is just crazy. I pray they find that girl that called in. Thank God , they are safe now.

My halfsisters mom died in Jim Jones. The only reason she was not there was she was too far along pregnant to go to Guyana. I always think how do people get into it, but they do. It's sad.

Taking care of the needs of one wife would be plenty for me. I wouldn't like having two or more women fussing at me everyday about picking up my socks, etc., off the floor.

I really feel sorry for Muslim homicide bombers who think they'll get 72 virgins. I guess it never occurred to them that within approximately 72 days they are not virgins anymore and likely to be fussing about something (because men do often deserve to be fussed at). Is that heaven or hell?

Who said that all those virgins will be women anyway?

I don't think I would be willing to risk ending up with 72 ugly dudes.

Please pray for those children. Anytime a child is removed from their home, even homes with horrific levels of abuse, the moving process still traumatizes a child. For some it is like being adbucted and held hostage, even though the people they are now placed with are providing a safe environment for them. As horrible as it sounds from the outside to us, on the inside the life lived there at that ranch was "normal" for those kids...

Yup. It is very frightening to be removed from what you've been told all your life is the *only* true Godly life, and to have to face the real world. I am glad they've been taken away from the sickos but the children and women have a long road ahead, recovering and normalizing.

I'm not sure I'm completely recovered after my family's cult experience, and ours wasn't nearly as bad as this group.

It is a form of brainwashing. If you are repeatedly told that the outside world displeases God and is filled with unspeakable evil, you would feel trapped. To have once known the truth(their teachings) and then incur the wrath of God by leaving is scary. I know about repititious warnings firsthand.

Where is the sixteen-year-old? Every female in that cult has to be wondering who she is, if she's okay or if she's going to end up with the sons of perdition in outer darkness!
