See, one of my major problems with a lot of interpretations that are coming out these days is that they all focus on America. Christ's return will be a world-wide event, and I do not believe it will focus on America. Heh, the US has only been around for 1/10 of the time since Jesus left for heaven, and I see no reason that the prophecy of Revelation 13 should center around the United States.
Now, I have to admit that I'm still tumbling eschatology around in my head. For many years I have held a "Jesus is coming back, and He's going to win - that's all I need to know," attitude about the end times, and as a result I tend to have a more generalized, moderated view on things.
I believe in Revelation 13, the "beast" very well may be a government, or some other type of group. I definitely see nothing in the text that suggests that it is an individual who somehow represents seven or ten things (and there is definitely nothing that suggests what those things would be) - rather, I believe they are a collection of world powers, unified by some sort of satanic force. Now, it may be that a single individual is behind this group (the dragon in the text, perhaps?), but I believe the sea-beast is a group of world rulers. This would explain how the Great Whore is riding upon the sea-beast in Revelation 17 (I believe the two beasts must be the same - the Great Whore is seen on many waters, and in 17:7, the physical descriptions are identical). Again, I would say that the Great Whore is not an individual, but rather the great, all-inclusive attitude of blasphemous attitudes that will characterize the world in the last days.

Barak? All black people? If Barak becomes president, is that alot of power? what if he hires them in a post?
so a David Duke could not start any trouble. think MLK's death. Think of riots etc. for a peaceful man.
What happens if BO gets shot? It will be a mess.

There seem to be only a few that believe America is involved at all.
And no I don't think that it is only America. The Bible clearly states that. But if the wrong leader gets ahold of the presidents office, it could not go bad for the world?
It's hard to even talk to people that believe America is peaches and cream. No innocent blood shed here!
People are asked for their opinions, I stated mine.
I love to read others opinion. look up the Scriptures people post. But sometimes all I get are attacks, nothing to learn from that!

Tracydolls; I can't help but get the impression that you're talking about black people when mentioning racism. But I've come across a lot of black people who seem to have a chip on their shoulders. And with black people on the news always playing the race card, I have to assume that this is why. I cannot count how many times I've come across a black person, and received a hateful stare when I smile at them. I smile at a lot of people that I pass, and I usually get a polite smile and/or "Hello" in return. But most African-Americans look at me with disgust... it could be the state that I live in. Or perhaps to them, I represent the very thing that they despise. But there's one problem with that. I'm not a racist! I have absolutely no problem with people unless they have a problem with me, and I respect those who respect me. But I'm also not a fighter...
I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my post. But racism isn't always directed towards black people anymore. There are PLENTY of racist black people where I live.

there are black racists. I'm not offended. Depends on your state. I walk around and get stared at by black and white!

Gas prices predicted to be in the 12 to 15 dollar range in the 2010-2012 periods with oil at $300 per barrel.
This sounds like a scenario that could totally disrupt life as we know it, cause governments to fall and the world to be shaken to its roots. With every thing else occurring in this world it would be an ideal time for a one world government. One could develop a lot of hypothetical situations to fit this world climate.

My Study of the bible has lead me in a bit of a different direstion. I believe in a prewrath rapture. A midterm rapture. Tribulation mentioned in the bible usually has to do with tribulation of the saints. The first 3 & 1/2 years the antichrist will slaughter the saints like never before or ever again. It will be a time when parents will turn in their children, children will turn in their parents etc. The sixth seal is the rapture. Right after the antichrist sits on the throne and declares himself God (the eyes of the jews will be open as to who he really is and now Jesus can come and there will be no confusion as to who He is)and right before God's pours His wrath upon the earth. Zachariah 10:12 tells of the jews (when they see the one whom they pierced) they will know and accept Him. Matthew 24:29-31 tell of the world seeing Jesus in the air during the rapture. The jews will see Jesus., Question; If the rapture takes place at the beginning of the 7 year period how do the jews accept both the antichrist and Jesus at the same time. I do not see how this is possible so He must come later after the eyes of the jews r opened.

In reference to the "one world government"...my father thinks it already exists. He believes that "some group" is/has been grooming BO for the presidency and is directing the affairs of the world. He also believes this group has been in place since around WW1 and the only president to NOT do as he was told was Nixon...and we know what happened to him!
Hmmmmm...food for thought or non-sensical ravings?
Should we start a new thread and see what others think?
What do you think???

I would like to point out a few things here. First of all there is a scripture that says the beast of Revelations 13 is a man. The last verse of the chapter: Revelations 13:18. "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." This verse tells us a couple of things. First it tells us that that the beast is a man. Second it tells us that this man's name somehow adds up to 666.

It doesn't tell us that at all. It might tell us that, but there are other possibilities.
Also, the lack of a definite article does not necessarily render the translation of "a man." Indeed, some could argue that if John meant it to refer to a specific man, he would have the definite article present, to indicate a specific individual.
I'm certainly not saying that your take on things is wrong. It may well be right. However, there are other legitimate possibilities, and I think it is healthy to be willing to accept that.

One World Government... Who and where is the Government that "controls" the world (economically or otherwise)?
666... Six is the number of man. Personally, I don't care who this guy is that will eventually be possessed of the Devil. I'm looking for Christ to come and get us out of here. I think a lot of people's names add up to 666.
One half Tribulation before Christ come for his church (Rapture)? Ouch! Seal and Trumpet judgements don't sound to appealing or promising.
Years ago... 1985ish. I ran across a gentleman who stated we were already into the Tribulation period. This gentleman learned this revelation (no pun intended) from his church (I'm leaning out his Church as it is still around and still believes we are in the Tribulation). Anyway, I have wondered from time to time if this gentleman still believes we are still in the Tribulation period? No point here - just rambling.
America in the Bible? Kind of like having your name on the chalkboard for getting an "A" on your spelling test? Not! I'm sure America is included in the Bible somewhere/somehow. Kind of reminds me of "George Washington's Vision" that I had read on the Internet eons ago. Not biblical at all but it was interesting - as are many things.
God obviously wanted us to know what was going to happen. But, I don't believe he ever intended for us to fight over it.
