ORIGINAL: bryan24 Feel free to explain how this is right of the mark. So what you're saying is that the new generation is godless, because of the fact they believe in evolution. Which means that the teachings of Jesus will die with your generation. Is that really what you're trying to say? The Bible (the teachings of Jesus) are as strong as they ever have been, if not more. As a former atheist, your comment is an embarrassment for the belief system you're trying to espouse. I advise you actually read and study the things which you have faith in. Because if you're goal is to engage Christians in debates regarding absolutes, matters of science and law, judicial probability, etc.. then it is only proper and good that you do so from an educated/informed standpoint.

Kat has it exactly correct and I'll even add that legalizing abortion I'm sure changed alot of thinking. Life isn't looked as precious and God giving so why should these teens care?

I had a job as a loss prevention manager for a large company several years ago. I used to get advice from our local police from time to time. During one conversation, the detective I was chatting with told me that earlier generations of criminals used to be able to be guilted into confessing because they knew what right and wrong was. But recent generations of criminals have no belief system of any sort, and truly believe that right and wrong is just something society or the people in charge make up. So they don't feel bad about what they did but only about getting caught because there is no right and wrong, merely choices that have to be made.

Criminals today are a totally different breed and it's frightening.

ORIGINAL: SweetLittleErin In my opinion, the girls did this (particularly the videotaping and YouTubing) because it got them attention. They probably got lots of hits on YouTube and even better....made national news. Its being sensationalized, they got exactly what they wanted. I personally have a real issue with the news media's facisnation with all the YouTube segments, where is the real news? But thats another topic.... The media didn't pick it up from Youtube- the girls never got it posted- the police released it to the media. I agree- as a mom of teens, this sickens me... but I know there were similar fights back when I was a kid... and I remember my mom talking about fights when she was a kid... so I don't think it is anything new. SOOOO.... I was a little surprised to hear these girls might get life sentences (because of the kidnapping charge). Again- it sickens me, they should be punished, but... life in prison? Seems a little much. Tara P You know, I kind of thought the same thing. Growing up I was involved in many fights, worse and bloodier than this and the only thing that happened to me or the other girls involved was grounded by parents or suspended from school. I'm not saying it's right but it happens all the time and has for as long as time has been around. Life sentences? Wow. I wonder if it's because it caused such an uproar in society and the authorities don't want to look like they condone it or what, but again, wow.

It was stated that the father could not even recognize his daughter's face she was so badly beaten. I can't imagine ever being involved in something so horrific.

Were you ever knocked unconscious for 30 minutes while you continued to be beat on, lost your hearing, etc? The video that was posted was not the complete beating.

If it's taped, no one can deny it happened or pretend it wasn't as bad as all that. If it wasn't taped, people who don't know how to deal with it can just chalk it up to teenage drama.
