I don't know, Ephesians, it does seem paradoxical either way. Maybe there's gray area.

Take care,

abraxas

I'm sure that our trying to plumb the depths of God's mind is somewhat like a common ant trying to understand us.

Hi meerkat,

I appreciate your sincerity. I know some will fear for my salvation given my current views, but I guess we're all condemned by someone's doctrine. I'm trying to stay open to things, and in my life, despite all the turbulence, I do experience what could be God, and that's what I seek after--the experiences that could be God. Thanks again for your thoughts on this thread.

LoyalGypsy,

I didn't fully understand your post, but unfortunately I'm in need of tapering off my discussion time, at least for a while. Perhaps in the near future. Thanks.

Fallacy #1
quote:

You know God wont save everyone. So why pretend he is going to?

God will save everyone who will come to Him for salvation, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL BE SAVED" (Rom. 10:13).

Fallacy #2
quote:

Will God make Jesus Christ known plainly for all to see?

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared TO ALL MEN". (Tit.2:11).

Fallacy #3
quote:

God has not willed to save every single person otherwise there would be no necessity of preaching the gospel. It would be unnecessary.

"The Lord is...NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, but that ALL should come to repentance" (2 Pet. 3:9). The Gospel is preached because sinners must believe and repent.

Fallacy #4
quote:

Do you believe when God wills someone to be saved that they will not be saved?

"But to Israel He saith, All day long have I stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people... Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do ALWAYS RESIST THE HOLY GHOST: as your fathers did, so do ye" (Rom. 10:21; Acts 7:51).

Hello Ezra:

I need to really do the color thing like you did in your answers, they are cool.

In response to your post.

You didnt really address my statement. in #1 God will save all 'who come'? This is a conditon and a place where many dont come. Therefore you also know God doesnt save everyone.
Combine this with "no man can come to me"....and you have man only as a responder, not an initiator.

That word all. I am going overseas again soon to preach the gospel to people who have not heard the gospel, how does that square with that verse you quoted? All is limited isnt it?
Its scope cannot include all men at all times.

The text in peter is addressing Christians. Peter doesnt want any believers who are following Christ to fail in their endurance and walking with Christ. Otherwise, why bother with 2 peter and all the warnings to stay away from false teachers.

How were they resisting the Holy Spirit? Thats a good question and worth your study. Were they resisting their own salvation or resisting the salvation of others? Were they the intended recipients of salvation or were they interfering with the intended salvation of others?

All of those texts do nothing to uproot the planting I have made here, God knows whom he will save and has provided the means to bring it about. Those who do not get saved are spoken of in scripture in various ways, some are Christ rejectors, others are passed over and left in their natural condition. Either way, God is responsible for this creation.

I dont doubt for a moment your willingness to preach the gospel and proclaim Christ.
I just hold God responsible for the lost as well as the saved. Gods word places that power and responsibility in Gods hands not mans.

John
