Dear Sweet Nathan,

Jealousy is rooted from insecurity. I want to encourage you to get just as secure in who Jesus made you as you possibly can. You are a wonderful person with a beautiful life ahead of you. God always saves the best for us. In our minds and hearts we need to make a commitment to ourselves to never compare ourselves with someone else. Always use Jesus as your comparison. God made you exactly how he wanted you to be. God has someone very special in mind for you. A special girl and friends.

Joyce Meyer has some really good books and sermons you can here online when you need a good pick me up. I'm not an advertiser, this comes from experience. If you need extra help in this area, she can give ya a great pep talk! :)

One of the best ways I've found is to stay busy. If you know your girl is going shopping with her friends, the way to stop thinking of her away from you is for you to stay busy. Clean out your garage, work on your car, think of a project and do it. Stay busy. Take your mind off her and enjoy your own time alone doing something productive.

Please talk to your pastor about this. It is not healthy to want to control another person or demand they be with you all the time. Find out how to get healthy, and do it. If you got married and did this, it could ruin your marriage.

I am praying for you!

I am praying for you.

You also need to be spending time with your own friends too. Friendships shouldn't end just because we've met someone we love.

This kind of jealousy comes from a deficiency in your own life. Jealousy such as this is when we make someone the focal point of our lives. God should be your center. We are jealous of others and compare ourselves to them when WE are the center of our lives. If God is at the center of your life, and you do everything to please Him, serve Him, and spend time with Him, then other things--like your girlfriend, yourself, your job, school, money, friends will not take center stage.

Jealousy is always a sign that something is out of place. It is also indicative of pride. Pride always wants to be the best--humility wants others to be their best.

Your priorities need to be reset. God should be first in thought, deed, and lifestyle. Everything has a place, but when everything is out of place things get confusing. Think about a house in total disarray. It's hard to find anything, you trip a lot, and your get confused. Our life is like that. God has a place for everything in our life. And right now, you're girlfriend is occupying the #1 spot in your life, and close behind her, a not to distant second is yourself and what you want, and how what you want makes you feel. God asks us to deny ourselves and follow Him. He asks us to take EVERY thought captive unto Christ and examine whether it glorifies God.

How do you think about your girlfriend? How do you think about yourself? Does it glorify God?

Bless you![:)]

The root of jealousy is fear. Usually, it's a fear that we are going to lose a person's love. But, it can also be a fear about being alone.

But, God has said that He didn't give us a spirit of fear. So, we have to realize where that fear comes from. If it didn't come from God then it could only come your own inner fears or from satan's influence on us.

My suggestion is that you look for ways to cast our fear and replace it with faith. When we trust our lives to Christ, we will realize that he wants the best for us... and, that might not even include the person we love right now. It would include someone better for us.

Fear is counterproductive. Faith is productive. Here is a link to Prayer to Go. It will help you build up your faith in Jesus Christ and kill some of those fear thoughts that you have.

Hi! I'll respond to your message, along with the rest of the users. I know how that feels though. Being jealous, but it's ok. I don't want to preach to you on here, and tell you it's healthy, or not healthy. God gave us in the begging emotions. Jesus himself felt emotion, and temptation, etc. He wasn't just God, and I think some people (not all), sometimes forget to add the fact, that he also was just like us in a lot of ways, but He was also God, and the only perfect one.
Try and keep busy though. It can really be good, and do something fun. Read, walk, shop, do a creative project, take a break from work, etc.
Even God rested from all His work on Sunday. I'm sure you'll be very fine. Try not to worry about it though, and I know how easy things can be said, rather than done. Best of luck to you!
