What do you blog about? Why did you start? Who's your audience?

I thought it might be fun to share.

I blog about everything. My kids, my family, what we're doing lately, rants about stuff that gets my goat, good deals I get.

I'm ecclectic.

I used to, but I stopped because no one really ever reads it and I hate talking to people if they aren't going to talk back...so instead I post in here in threads where I know people will respond to what I wrote.

I blog mostly about parenting and home education issues...sometimes I post thoughts that are rolling around in my head, or something I read online or heard on the news. My audience seems to be a bit eclectic, but all who have responded to it have been parents or folks concerned about educational issues.

I started blogging because verbalizing my thoughts, whether orally or in writing, helps me think things through. I get some responses on my blog itself, and some by email. I enjoy posting comments on other people's blogs as well, which just so happens to bring traffic to my blog. My average so far is about 50 hits per day- some days I get over a hundred hits, and some days around 30. One of these days I may give blogging more attention, or even try to set up one that can make some $$$, but for now it is a hobby.

What is fun is seeing how folks reach my blog. When someone Googles a topic that sends them to my blog, I get stats on that. Verrrrrryy interesting.[;)] Especially since one of my posts is called "The Fantasy of Being a Stay-at-Home Mom". [sm=Llol.gif]

The link to my blog is in my sig. I named it A Woman On Purpose because that is how I want to live my life- by thinking things through, praying things over, and eliminating the word "Oops" from my vocabulary. [:D]

I like posting here, but this is a different format. I can't always say what I am thinking, and it is frustrating to post something only to be responded to by folks who got their PhD in Missing The Point. On my blog I am in control, and I can tell people they are pointy-headed nimrods and to not go away mad, just to go away. [8D]

I keep a blog (though I don't post very often) about issues for families of biracial and multiracial children.

I found I was doing a lot of research and looking on certain issues and I thought, why not compile it all into one place for other people to see. I have lists of books for parenting biracial children, books for the kids to read with biracial kids, where to buy mixed race dolls, as well as information on cord blood storage.

I've had a few over the years. We had a family one When my older two were little but by the time #3 and #4 came around I got busy and rarely added to it.

Then I started one this year about gardening and other stuff.

I am. I used to maintain a family website but had program issues and after waiting far too long and not getting them worked out I started a blog instead. I mostly use it to keep distant family and friends up to date on how we're doing and what we're doing and post current pics of the kids. I also have a lot of friends who have blogs so we also check out each others' on a regular basis and it's fun to see someone else's perspective on a shared experience.

I also find it really useful to keep a record of milestones that the kids are hitting. I'm much better about keeping it up than I am baby books and at least then I can go back and use it to fill in the kids' baby books later.

My blog address is in my signature as well.

Um, no one reads it because you stopped blogging! I check back all the time![:D]

I blog here on CW (or whatever portal you use). I don't too much blog about every day stuff, but more about the struggles and spiritual journey God brings me through. I like to look back and see what God was showing me as I was going through that time, and being able to see the hand of God in my life. I haven't been successful at keeping a written journal, so this kind of does that for me. I also so appreciate hearing from people when I blog...they encourage me to keep on going even when things really stink sometimes.

garsyt -> RE: Are you a parent blogger? (4/20/2008 7:47:58 PM)

I blog, but it's mostly just a record for me and access is limited to invite only. I use it mainly to keep family updated with pics of the kids and happenings around here and to showcase some of my latest scrapbooking projects. I would like to spice it up a bit but need to get my hubby the Blogger extrodianaire to help me with that.

Blessings,

Garsy

I blog about Christian issues, apologetics, cults, the occult, trends in our church today, society issues, etc...

campfan -> RE: Are you a parent blogger? (4/23/2008 9:34:39 AM)

I just recently started blogging. I just basically write what's on my mind for the day, lyrics to songs I like, what's going on in my life, my kids, my husband, mentoring. I find it theraputic cause I can basically write out my feelings when I need to. I don't care that no one/few reads it...I just like to write.
