I do not know if this has been covered, but I am now reading Twenty Three minutes in Hell. I am a pretty skeptical person, but, I believe both of these men. Have you read one or both? Your thoughts?

I saw part of the 23 Minutes in Hell video, but I don't know if I believe him. I haven't finished it, though.

The book is pretty good, I have not finished it as of yet.

Bill Wiese comes out of the Kansas City Prophets. . .

That instantly makes me very skeptical.

Yes! I have heard of it, it is in my church bookstore, but I thought it might be a phony and not really worth reading. I just don't think it's possible that one could pass on to heaven\hell, and come back. Once you'ev gone that far, I don't think you can come back. I can't say, either, it's never happened to me before.
As for a video of it, that's pretty cool. The part where the guy is in hell might be too disturbing, though. Who's the author?

I do not know about Kansas City prophets, but, for some reason, I do believe him. I am very hard to convience of anything. If it is not true his story, it makes you think of people who are dying and going to hell everyday. Whatever his story, hell is real, and millions go everyday, and there is no way out.

No offense meant, but imho that book is garbage, propaganda, scare tactic nonsense. I personally find the book reprehensible. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I hate seeing it promoted. Not saying you're promoting it, but any publicity is good publicity.

Sure, and like the Apostle John, he was not given free reign to report everything he saw in heaven. And neither Apostle was dead when they were allowed to see heaven. I haven't read this book but the folk who normally make these claims do it "after death" and they are told to come back and tell all - at a profit.

I know of both books. I've watched an interview with the author of the 23 minutes in Hell and read most of the 90 Minutes in Heaven. While I cannot say whether one or both are accurate I do believe that they believe their stories so I believe it is sincere of what they are reporting.

Not too long ago I was speaking with a friend (minister) about the 23 minutes in Hell story. I was curious as to his opinion. He said that some years before that he had a vision almost identical and described to a tee the experience that the man from the book recorded. He did so BEFORE I told him about any details I had heard. He said he believed that God allowed him this vision to gain a compassion for the lost not necessarily to use scare tactics (which he doesn't.)

Also, some years ago my husband's uncle had a "near death" experience where he related his journey to heaven and back. He said he could hear his wife and daughter's prayers at his bedside. He described something that we often hear about heaven but told he had to return but that it wouldn't be long. My husband spoke to him barely a month later about his experiences. Knowing his uncle he couldn't imagine him being any more sincere. He died just a day or two later.

I think God can use any means possible to get our attention so for us to assume that since it doesn't make sense in our own minds doesn't always hold up to God's ways. Our ways are not His ways so we should be reminded of that. Whether these gentlemen experienced what they claim or merely dreamed or had a vision is between them and God. In the end, I'm just thankful that I will be enjoying heaven someday instead of the horrors of hell.

One thing i noticed about the book 23 minutes in heaven is how he was not happy on earth anymore, he just wanted to go back to heaven. He had to learn how to be content on earth again. After reading this book it made me say "even so, come Lord quickly"

It is ok, Hell is not a feel good subject, and for different reasons, talking about it makes us express emotions that sometimes are not comfortable. No offense taken friend, so many blessings. Nodumbblonde, that is a very wise post, and very telling. Jimbo, good point. And the Ninety minutes in Heaven, touched many lives. I would not want to come back either. I am with the person that said " even so come quickly Lord Jesus."[:D]

I read 90 Minutes in Heaven. I LOVED it. My mom passed away less than a year ago, and when I found out this book existed, I bought it because I wanted to see what my mom experienced during HER first 90 minutes in Heaven. I now know she is safe and in the company of those who went before her, and I know she is pain free (for the first time in years) and oh so happy!

I believe everything Don Piper wrote in his book. That's just me. He tells his story with such eloquent conviction. He had too many people with him for this to be anything but true.

I have NOT read the 23 Minutes in Hell book, nor do I plan to; this is a personal choice I made. I would rather concentrate on happier things.

I saw some info about 23 minutes in hell on the 700 club and it totally freaked me out.I am not sure I believe that God would let a christian experience being in Hell just so they can see how bad it is when it is meant as a place of punishment.

I have read both books and whether they are using scare tactics or not, both places are very real. The 23 minutes to hell whether he is telling the truth or not, hell is very real and Jesus warned us of this place throughout the Bible. We need to be compassionate towards the lost and warn them of this place before it is too late.

I don't know about any state of "limbo", but I have heard enough recounts of "near death experiences" (or more accurately momentary death experiences) to believe that it can happen. People clinically die and see either heaven or hell, then are resuscitated and return. Just like resuscitating people, it's not often that they pull through, but it's possible. I don't have first-hand experience but I've heard enough third-hand from enough sources that I would consider it confirmed.

If my internet connection wasn't acting spastic today I'd check those links now, as it is I'll have to wait. Thanks for the direct information anyway. I'd like some links for the "23 Minutes in Hell", but I suppose I can always brute-force it with Dogpile's search engine like I do for many other information searches.

I've seen documentaries on people who experienced what is called "near death experiences", and though some of them are probably full of "less than truths" I feel certain that a large number of them were genuine. Does anybody know if there are (m)any other books on this specific topic out there?

I read 23 Minutes in Hell last fall. Unquestionably, the BEST part of the book is not his telling of his story, but the rather extensive catalogue of scriptures toward the end; over a hundred as I recall. After Bill Wiese recovered from his vision, he spent the next year reading through the Bible looking for scripture that matched his vision. That section of his book is most intriguing. I suppose someone who is, um, hell-bent on discrediting him could say he found the scripture first and then made up his vision, but that is not the way he tells it. And either way he offers an excellent compendium of scripture that describes hell.

A friend of mine is a publicist for Don Piper. I have yet to read his books though. I probably should.
