Hello All: Very interesting Topic, thank you Consecrated for starting it. After living most of my life in the country I have learned "wave" edicate for rural areas. If you pass by a car or pickup with someone you know you of course wave. Generally speaking, you don't usually wave from a car, or to cars, only if you're in a pickup or tractor do you wave, however there are some exceptions :-). If you pass by a car with someone you don't know driving you usually don't wave unless they do first. If you pass by a pickup, both will generally raise one or two fingers without removing the hand from the steering wheel. If on your return trip you pass the same truck you lift your whole hand from wheel leaving the heel of your hand on the wheel. If you pass a tractor in the field you do a complete wave with the hand off the wheel. If you pass by someone on a regular basis but don't know them you do a complete wave with the hand off the wheel. If ever in doubt just do the one or two finger thing :-). On a related topic, you see three cowboys in a pickup truck, which one is the smartest? The one in the middle, the one on the left has to do all the driving and the one on the right has to get out all the time to open the gates and the one in the middle gets to relax and enjoy the drive :-).
