Here is what I found...
Biblical Scholars Challenge Pelosi's 'Scripture' Quote
quote:

John J. Collins, the Holmes professor of Old Testament criticism and interpretation at Yale Divinity School, said he is totally unfamiliar with Pelosi's quotation.

"(It's) not one that I recognize," Collins told Cybercast News Service. "I assume that she means this is a paraphrase. But it wouldn't be a close paraphrase to anything I know of."

Claude Mariottini, a professor of Old Testament at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, told Cybercast News Service the passage not only doesn't exist - it's "fictional."

I did a computer search for all the key words and even changed some (Creation to created and create) and I still came up empty. I am sure she was paraphrasing but even then I should have been able to find something remotely the same.

I guess she found this quote in that little known book of the Bible - The Book of Pelosi. Funny though, my Bible soesn't have that book! Maybe the Gnostics hid this book from us from the first century. Oops! I'm straying into conspiracy theories territory![;)]

Just more delusion on the part of the Speaker from the land of fruits and nuts.

Thanks

Remember that she's from the Northern part of our fine state where most of the pot farms are located too!

My response to Nancy would be:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.

Marcus. -> RE: Nancy Pelosi and scripture quoting (4/24/2008 1:35:58 PM)

I wonder if the Bible and God she refers to is the True and Living God or one of the pagan ones.

Psalms 50:16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

Shall we continue....

17. Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
18. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.
19. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
20. Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.
21. These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
22. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

Proverbs 16:12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

Psalms 125:3 For the wicked shall not rule the godly, lest the godly be forced to do wrong.

Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.

Proverbs 18:5 It is not good to be partial to a wicked man, or to deprive a righteous man of justice.

Proverbs 20:26 A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

Proverbs 21:27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

Proverbs 28:15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Proverbs 29:12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

And...

Proverbs 30:20 Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

John

............ Uhm, yeah....... If you are going to paraphrase, DON'T PUT IT IN QUOTES! It's true that the Bible calls us to steward the gifts that God has given us, and the earth is a heck of a gift. However, that is no justification for the green movement pushing for food prices high enough that riots are being started over it. I'm reminded of a catch-phrase from the former professional wrestler "The Rock"... "Know your role, and SHUT YOUR MOUTH!"

Now comes the time for destroying those who destroy the earth. We are to be stewards of the earth that God has allowed us to subdue. For He Blessed us to be fruitful and multiply, and our original gift in the Garden of God was to tend the Garden and dwell in unity in marriage. Just as The Body of Christ is a Temple of The Holy Spirit, the earth is The Lord's and the fullness thereof. The whole earth is full of His Glory!

Annie64 -> RE: Nancy Pelosi and scripture quoting (4/27/2008 1:29:18 AM)

Somebody--whether Nancy Pelosi, a speech writer, some Catholic priest somewhere (since she claims to have gotten the quote from a Catholic priest)--made this up. It is totally made up. To give her the benefit of the doubt, she may have heard a priest say it and she thought he was quoting scripture. But there's nothing like checking things out for yourself. Whether or the sentiments in her "quote" were true is irrelavant. The important thing is that it isn't there at all.
