Looked awesome the first two games but when Pittsburgh came to town everthing went wrong. I like that we signed Mike Marks though. Hope he dose well with the boys.

They pulled Garcia while they still had a chance to snatch the #3 seed. Seattle had to lose, they were beating the Ravens 24-3 at halftime. The Ravens probably would not have come back but you don't make decisions to pull reasonably healthy starters based on the idea that a team can't come back from a 3 touchdown deficit.

My ex-cousin (he divorced my cousin in the mid-1980's) was Mike Hohensee past QB of the Washington Federals of the short lived USFL. He now is head coach of the arena football Chicago Rush. He threw the first TD in AFL history. Didn't know how to treat a lady though!

The Breakers could beat the Vikings. [:D] Speaking of that, here is something to discuss. Last year while the Patriots were going around being unbeaten there was talk (from sports media) of who would win between the 2007 Patriots and the 1972 Dolphins (the only unbeaten team in the Super Bowl or even TV era). I think its a ridiculous question. I don't think the 1972 Dolphins could beat the 2007 Dolphins (1-15 last year). No disrespect to the 72 Dolphins but athletes, especially lineman offensively & defensively are just too big yet athletic today. Receivers and backs are just too fast. And besides, what about the playbooks? If the 2007 Dolphins came out in a five wide set what would the 1972 Dolphins do other than freak out. If it is a question of which team was more dominant in its era its clearly the 72 Dolphins (even before the Pats lost in the Super Bowl). So can anyone make an argument for the 72 Dolphins beating any modern NFL team.

You've probably already heard about the possible lockout of the 2011 season? The owners will most likely opt out of the Collective Bargaining Agreement before the end of the year. They don't feel they are making enough $$$. If that happens, it could lead to uncapped salary in 2010, then no NFL games in 2011. Of course, all the doom and gloom that is being spoken about now is worst-case-scenario. With the $$$ that the players and owners are making, they'll find a way to make it work...unlike the 2004-2005 NHL season.

You are correct about Birmingham. The Federals stunk up Washington (if it's possible to make DC worse) for two years, then finished in Orlando.

Real life speaking I would put him in the lower half of the top 10. He's a great leader and has gotten solid results with a receiving core that has been suspect due to injuries and lack of depth. And Alexander didn't light the world on fire so he had to carry the team. But sometimes he has awful games and makes more big mistakes than a big time QB should, from my observations (and I do watch him, fantasy QB and all). But take away the Mannings, Brady, Roth and Palmer (maybe Brees but he's prone to big mistakes in clutch situations as well) and I'd gladly have him on my real life team. There might be a couple others I'd rate ahead of him but it would be a toss-up (like Brees) and I can't think of them at the moment. He was good enough to "lead" my fantasy team to the league championship so thats a plus. Sorry about the bragging. In actuality I was the 3rd best team (unlike the NFL its clear in Fantasy where you stack up, its based on how many points you score) but my key players got sorta hot (Westbrook stayed healthy [:D] )and the chips fell right for me during the playoffs. Its sad about Dwight White. I never got to watch him play as a "fan" much if at all (I started watching at 10 in 1980, White's career was close to done then I believe) but I know from my football history that he was a big part of the Steel Curtain. Those old time football players were warriors. Today's players may be bigger, faster, stronger but they can't top the classic guys for heart. Not that many of them don't have it but the old timers (for lack of a better term) had it in spades.

There are still some great players though and I think the heart is still there but embodied in fewer players. But there's so much money getting thrown at them it is easier for them to get selfish and more mercenary in their playing. Less team, more me, me, me. The Seahawk also had another great QB in Zorn. I remember him too! By the way, I did see the Steelers play (on TV) in the Steel Curtain days. It seemed that team would score at will! Lynn Swann and John Stallworth were two of the greatest wide receivers of all time. It was like the football had a homing beacon for those guys! I've been a Steelers fan since I was six and at that time we still had the LA Lambs (I mean Rams.) They were still wearing white and blue, too! (Man, I am getting old!) Thank goodness they are St. Louis' headache now!. Although my bro-in-law from St. Lou is still a fan. Well, they did win a Super Bowl there which is more than they did while in LA. BTW, I just found out that Tony Dungy was a defensive back for the Steelers during those days as well. Well, whatta ya know!
