I told him your cow theory, Mike. Being that I wasn't taking it seriously, he wasn't concerned about me, but he did mention it could be the elk. Perhaps they eat them when the kids leave them lying in the yard.

Hmmm, maybe cattle could be taking them too? Maybe is little mice looking to stay warm, so they steal the socks instead?

They always turn up in our house. The culprit is Static Cling, which causes them to latch onto clothes, sheets and towels. The probability of them clinging to the inside of a garment is in inverse proportion to the likelihood that you will be wearing that garment in the foreseeable future.

Every so often a sock needs to be sacrficed to the sock gods as a carbon credit for the heat the dryer exaust adds to global warming.

There was a time when both mermaids and unicorns wandered freely upon the earth, but once humanity was given the knowledge of fire and the power of the wheel, both knew their days were numbered. Up until that time, mermaids ruled the seas, while unicorns ruled the dry land. Within centuries, the waters were polluted and the forests were burned and with them the habitats of bopth mermaids and unicorn. As both the mermaids and the unicorns watched their numbers dwindle, they decided to take revenge. Fire and wheels, they thought, made the washing machines work, so turned their revenge, with great and terrible ire, upon them and them alone. Nothing they tried on the washing machines worked, and both mermaids and unicorns became extinct, so I have no idea what happened to your socks. I'm just messing with your heads! Bwahahahahahaha!
