with the electricity!

My daughter's closet light turns itself on ... after I have made sure it was off.

Then, the new ceiling fan light turned itself on right over my head when I was watcihng TV!! (I had turned it off like 30 - 45 minutes prior.)

Today, the TV came on by itself! The remote and TV were at least 7 feet from each of us!!

I am beginning to consider things... paranormal things.... Should I try to find out if someone may have committed suicide in the house before? How would I look that up?

My kids are scared to be alone in the apartment!!

Maybe you could start by asking neighbors that have perhaps been in your area a while if anything strange has happened. That is how we found out the history of our 55 year old home.

Just wondering: How old is your house? If it was built a long time ago, then maybe do what "elastic" suggested and call a reputable electrician.

Please keep us posted on what you find out, k?

Did you have an inspection before you moved in? I'd be more worried about a short or surge danger than anything paranormal.

I'd check to see if someone had died in the house prior. I know a rule here in California is that you have to disclose if a person had died in the house 2 years prior.

Get a grip, people! All the odd happenings have to do with one thing...electricity. You've obviously got a short or something....before you call in the Ghost Busters, call an Electrician.[8|]

If you think something is in your house, call it out and be done with it. (But don't forget to check the electricity!)

I'm not an electrician, but a little info---electricity doesn't flow at a constant rate. It's not just automatically 115 volts AC or whatever. That's why they put transformers on the lines. Old wiring can alter the flow or be poorly grounded. Buildings that have badly fluctuating ac coming in may need line conditioners installed.

I work in an old building. The old wiring is what I blame for making a cd player turn on by itself. I can turn it off and in a few minutes it's back on again.

Watch out for electronics in that environment. Surge protect computers.

The spontaneity of certain devices I find more puzzling than that of others. Devices that use a remote control, like a tv set are really always on - they always draws at least a small amount of current to run the circuitry that receives commands from the remote. I could see a power fluctuation overloading the circuit that tells the tv to turn on.

Things with physical switches are a little more puzzling, because there's actually a mechanical device used to make/break the contact. I suppose the closet light could explain by a bad switch, but what about the ceiling fan? You say the fan is new, but is its switch on the wall new?
