With out peeking at your notes, can you remember what the sermon was about you heard on Sunday morning?

Ours was about the difference between ministry and a job. What is in your heart and why we are passionate about different things. Why one person thinks cleaning is the greatest, and another thinks working in the nursery is. What has God made you passionate about?
(and no, I did not peek!)

Yes, we had a substitute pastor and the message was on Where's God.
The take home lesson for me was practicing the presence of God, being continually aware and mindful of His presence with me, speaking to Him and listening throughout the day and always.

He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and exist.
from the book of Acts

Thanks for asking. I frequently ask a friend each Monday what her sermon was on. . .and sometimes she needs her notes too.[:)]

Mine was about the glories of Heaven, the promises of the a future of liveing with God and Jesus and lining ein their light, about no sorrows nor tears in the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21,22) but after the congregation was all comfortable with that future I confronted them with these verses;

(Rev 22:11) He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

(Rev 22:12) And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

And expanded on that there is a day coming and coming soon when God's patience (and His Grace) will come to an end.

I pre-closed with the following passage;

(Mat 7:20) Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

(Mat 7:21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

(Mat 7:22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

(Mat 7:23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

and ended with this verse;

(2Co 13:5) Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

And neither did I look at my notes.

Thanks
RC

Ours was about Stephen, sorta. It was about how the apostles appointed some men to take care of the distribution of food to the widows. He drew parallels with our church - "if there's a problem, do something about it" type of thing.

I remember last Sunday's sermon well. We had a visiting priest and he went on and on and on.

I must have dozed off at one stage to the embarrassment of those with me.

For this I'm truly sorry ... although he started it by going on and on and on ...

After seven years of being nomads, last Sunday was our first Sunday in our new building. The sermon was on the good samaritan and our need to reach out to those who outside our comfort zone.

While my church is a largely white church we have a burning desire to reach the inner city.

The good thing about my pastor is he does several weeks of a sermon series so...I know the topic at least....[;)][;)]

The sermon series is about relationship rehab....getting back and healing relationships. The sermon was on divorce/marriage in which the pastor revealed he had been divorced just out of college. Interesting it was.

I am sure you can listen to that and many more of his sermons at www.cbglades.com

The sermon at my church was on Nehemiah. I don't know the exact application that was put forth because I wasn't in chuch this last Sunday. I was at our women's retreat.

We spent the morning praising God and giving Him the glory for what he did in our lives throughout the weekend. The "crowning" moment, literally, was when two women gave their hearts to Jesus and asked Him to be their Lord and Savior.

We have pastors from Peru come in every once in a while for ours and for the most part, they usually do a prosperity message. Which was what ours' was last Sunday. It's more encouragement than saying you WILL get rich, but more of a you CAN get rich. It was also a general overview of taking opportunities when seen and doing well by them.

I know Scripture from Luke was quoted but I can't tell exactly where without looking at the notes [8|]

Our normal head pastor also did an altar call at the end and I know I saw at least 3 new people up there at the end which is awesome. Hopefully they'll get plugged in.

Actually we had a rare Saturday evening service and the message was on Yom haBikkurim - the day of First Fruits.
