That's exciting Maggie!! Very cool!

Yes, I realize that. I figured everyone else would too which is why I didn't include it. There are lots of reasons I won't be giving Mary juice, she has no nutritional need for it and I think drinking water is much more important.

Awesome! I'm like you -- I'll look for those types of things at yard sales before I shop at the store. Can't beat paying $2-5 for a perfectly good umbrella stroller (or an exersaucer, or baby bathtub or baby swing or . . . .)

Ladies,

I just wanted to let you all know that I will be taking an extended break from CW. I love you guys, and I enjoy your company, but I need to do this. Recent events have taught me that I take some things far to personally and get to emotionally involved. That's my fault, but it's not healthy, either, certainly not when I am pregnant. I'm going to focus on my pregnancy, my family, my home and other areas.

I'll check my messages from time to time in case anyone would like to contact me, but it's time to take a step back.

I think this is what God wants me to do.

God bless,
Ruth

I'll miss you Ruth but I totally understand as I have had to take a break before myself.

In the days when I used to get bothered by things on boards, my husband would say to me "if it upsets you, switch it off", and that kinda helped to restore my sense of perspective. Yes, there are real people behind the words, but at the end of the day, it's just words on a screen.

Hoping you'll come back soon when your own sense of perspective is restored.

Ruth, I have enjoyed getting to know you more and I do hope you come back after you've had a break. ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

Hannah and Levi are playing in the toy room and she's throwing fits because she doesn't want him to touch "her stuff". I reminded her that she doesn't like it when big brothers don't let her play, and she needs to be kind to Levi. She told me, "Mom, I AM kind. He's just a pest." Okay, so he kind of is...in fact, one of his biggest joys is driving her insane (is that a little brother for you, or what?).

Hi, Ruth:

I hope you're not gone YET so you can read my post!

Please do check in after you've had the break you need. I have enjoyed reading your posts, and have learned things from you.

God bless you as you progress in your pregnancy. I will pray your pregnancy goes smoothly and you feel rested in the ways you need it.

Did Levi attend Little Brother School??? (Or even Big Brother School for that matter...) I swear, brothers just have this special quality of how to torment a sister.... (I should know, I have 4 brothers -- 1 older, 3 younger).

That is a cute story, though. "I *AM* kind." Hilarious! I can just picture her saying that to you, Donna.

I think it just comes naturally to him. No formal education required.

Brian was the only boy in his family...with four sisters. Every one of them (except the youngest, who has never had to live with Brian) will tell you brothers are pains and they are glad they only had one. Poor sweet Hannah...

Hi ladies. Miss me?

I'm sorry I haven't checked in lately. I've been busy and focused on my house, my son, being at MIL's, etc. I have thought about all of you quite a bit, but I knew I didn't have the time to read up on everyone else and thus I felt guilty for just posting blind.

Sarah: I took that link about the heavenly helper book and emailed it ot Jason. That looks GREAT.

Ruth: I tried pming you and it won't work. I will MISS YOU.

We are doing pretty good. Jadon's 2 month appt is the 27th and I'm getting nervous about my decision with vaccines. My first inclination is NO VACCINES - or at least spread them out, but then I feel overwhelmed trying to figure out what to postpone. I have the Dr. Sears book on vaccine's that I need to read, but I can't seem to find time TO read it. I tried to find my notes I made while talking to Ryanne on how she's postponed hers, but I lost them some how! gr. Then I think, "well, I was worried about the epidural and I Loved it... maybe vac's are the same?! Should I be so afraid?"

Outside of that Jadon is growing SO MUCH. He is now fully in 0-3 month clothes. I think he's actually going to grow out of 0-3 month clothes faster than NB. He's still sleeping with us, but I'm hoping to change that soon. I bought a changing table (I ended up being one of those who loves theirs) and am hoping to get his room in order this weekend and start transitioning him. It's hard because he doesn't even like to NAP in there. I'm not quite sure how to transition him. That and he likes to sleep on his TUMMY - his arms don't wake him up that way. I tried swaddling this kid, but he HATES to have his arms swaddled. I'm at a loss. Thankfully he sleeps pretty good in his swing and during the day I let him sleep on the boppy on his side and he sleeps good there. Maybe I'm creating a bad situation? I don't know.

I did claim my room back. I moved that huge pack'n'play out of our room and moved my furniture back in place. I simply didn't see the point of it remaining since he doesn't sleep in there anyways! I LOVE having my room back. Now I just look forward to the day I'm not flocked on each side and can move more freely at night. lol I can't wait to get his room in order. Part of me wonders if part of the reason why he can't rest good is because his room isn't in order. If he's anything like his momma, I can't get deep rest/peace if I'm surrounded by clutter or mess.

I miss you ladies.

Hi, Jae! Sounds like you're all doing well.

As far as vaccines, I started a friendly discussion ONLY vaccine thread...HERE. I also posted the schedule I have decided for this next baby, so maybe you can get some ideas there.

Question from a new mom:

My 9-week-old has pretty much slept most of today. Now, I'm thinking this is just because he is growing and he's catching up, but someone reassure me, okay?

He has the right amount of diapers (wet/dirty) and has been eating as normal. It's just that some days the little ones need a little more sleep than other days, right? He has had some awake time today but has been mainly sacked out. When he's awake he's been smiling and in a good mood. Yesterday we hiked around a lake for almost 2 miles. I had him in the Baby Bjorn and he seemed to enjoy it. He loves being outside. I'm sure that helped tire him? He slept his normal sleeping pattern at night and this morning.

Has no fevers or weird things going on. He's just sleepy as he's growing, right? I just know this kid will be an inch taller by tomorrow morning -- he is getting so tall!

Also it's a really gray, overcast day here today. I know I feel sluggish on days like this, maybe junior does, too?

(I'm not in a panic and sweating, by the way, I'm just curious if you all think he is just a little extra sleepy because he's growing.)

Thanks,
Jeanie

He's likely growing. He *could* be coming down with something but it's very unlikely. The reason I say that is because both of my girls get extra tired in the day or two before I notice sick symptoms. But in a newborn of 9 weeks old I'd say it's just because he's growing and probably missed a bit of sleep yesterday.

Jae:

Here is the link for the sleep sack we have for Adam. We call this the blue burrito (seen in the avatar).

L I N K

We love this for Adam, and he LOVES to have his arms out but he still bonks himself in the head and gets overly excited so when we lay him down at night to sleep he is swaddled.

Right now he has pretty much outgrown his two burritos because he is long. In July they are coming out with a size SMALL for (I think) babies that are 23-26 inches long. We will likely get one for him and use it till it seems like he doesn't wake himself up with his arms. We're not totally sure he will need the next size as he is getting older, etc., but there are times when we swaddle him with this and you can almost sense relief in the baby as his body gets more under control.

We absolutely LOVE the burrito. We got the two we have for him before we left the hospital, at the hospital store. I went back 2 weeks ago to buy the size "small" (for the 23-26 inch babies) but our hospital only sells the smaller sizes for newborns. Nuts!

Anyhow, while there I picked up two more of the newborn sized ones for DH's sister as she is expecting a little girl in the fall. She's getting a pink burrito and a cream burrito.

I will likely buy one of these for every new baby in our circle of family/friends as the babies come along. I know all babies are different and some might not go for it but they've been great for us.

Jeanie

Thanks for the reassurance, Clag! That's what I think, too, as he is in a good mood and his usual self for the time he has been awake. It's just kind of weird because he used to sleep a lot as a brand-new baby but then he would wake up more frequently for feedings....now he's a 'big boy' (haha) and he can go longer between feedings and so it seems really strange to have him sleep so much during the day....at least sleeping this much in a row. His last feeding was finished at 3:45 and he was awake about 15 minutes and then conked right back out.

Maybe I should bottle my breastmilk as a sleep aid?

Oh, and for the first time EVER I pumped milk out today. It was strange doing that but I got 3 ounces and it sits all bottled up in the fridge for later on, just to try it out. I'm going to have my husband feed it to him (if the baby will take a bottle). I sure hope so, but I'm not going to stress out if the baby says no to the bottle on the first try.

Jael refused a bottle the first time I gave her one...but that might just have been because it had formula in it.

Hannah had no problems going back and forth between breast and bottle...but again, I was wearing a nipple shield with her. So the bottle and my nipple weren't actually that different.

babies sleep when they are tired....and when they grow. 9 weeks is pretty typical for a growth spurt...so I would say yes, he is just tired or possibly about to grow. Yesterday probably helped tire him out too.

Just tired/growing, or if he's had shots within the past 10 days, could be sleeping more as an immune response. Either way...normal, and fine.
