Did any of you have babies that did/do not like to be rocked to sleep? Mary likes to be held and I can rock her and she will fall asleep, but she will never get to that deep relaxed sleep if you hold her. The only time she will hit that deep sleep will be when she is laying on her tummy. Kinda bums me because I'm a cuddle bug and would love to hold her and snuggle while she sleeps.

I don't remember about crawling unless I check out their baby books but Gabe typically met his physical milestones late and Zion hit them early. Gabe was always so content to just lay around and check out the things that he could see. He loved to figure things out. Zion always passed over things very quickly and wanted to move on to the next thing. It was all about personality with them.

Just have to watch kids who do that, they tend to have a harder time learning their left from their right, and a couple other things...

Except it didn't effect my ability to read in the least, nor did it affect BIL's, and he didn't walk until 17 months.

Lol, Donna. I finally learned it solidly when I was driving, but there are still times when I have trouble. And really, it was easiest when I learned "Port" and "Starboard" during my sailing days.

Saebella started crawling at 4 1/2 months.

this is really hard for me to express... as I am not sure how to put this question. At Saebella's last dr appt the Dr told me that she is several months advanced in most areas (sleeping is like a newborn though - up several times a night) - of course I had noticed that she was hitting milestones far ahead, but hadn't realized she was that far. Anyway, my question is...I have a hard time knowing how to talk with other moms. I am SOOOO paranoid they are going to thinking I am think I am so much better and bragging or jealous that thier baby isn't doing this or that or feeling like a bad mom because thier's isnt. Some moms have responded this way. Then to top it off, everyone is completely in awe of her beauty. I just don't know what to do and am a bit overwhelmed. Also, is there a thread here for moms that have kids that are really ahead or are all the issues really the same? thanks, ladies.
oh, and I think i really need to be on here more...i really need the mom support. i have really been going a bit crazy, so i'll be back more. i just probably won't be able to keep up with all the conversations as things move really fast on here

Nicole, Timmy never crawled or army crawled. He pulled up at 11 months and started walking on his own at 13 months.
The finally got a hold of my own doctor yesterday (well, the kids') in the evening. They had the wrong number for me. My doctor suggested Jimmy get an antibiotic shot since he won't take the nasty cephuroxime or whatever it was called, and the azythromiacin was not effective and his allergy to amoxicillin. So, we went in last night and he got his shot. Poor guy. He's fine though, and at least I'm not having to worry about trying to get him to take his medicine for 10 days. I asked the kids' doc (he's great, I like him a lot) about chiropractors adjusting babies for ear infections and reflux and things like that. He said his nephew was adjusted by a chiro for reflux, and it cured him. He told me if I can find a chiro that has experience with adjusting babies, that I ought to go for it for his ear infections. He said he would definitely try that before considering tubes in his ears. He guesses that Jimmy's right ear can't drain properly. He said, "God might have made him that way so you could have met me. If you wouldn't have met me, you might have never figured out Timmy's pooping problem." Which is so true. Jimmy's first earn infection, I came in for a same day appointment and couldn't see the pediatrician, so they put me in with him, and then I decided to choose him as the kids' PCP.

no there isn't a thread like that....but I can relate. My first was ahead of the charts on everything when he was a baby. Then my second came and was totally opposite...she didn't even roll over both ways til 6 mo

Were you in Sea Scouts or something like that, or did you parents have a sailboat? I was in sea scouts for a couple years in my teens. One of the most fun times I had in my life.

I hear ya. Nathan took his first steps at 8 months, and by 10 months we had to train him not to climb on top of the kitchen table. I'd be doing dishes and I'd look up to see him waving at me! And we have gotten plenty of compliments on his looks, too.
Now, even though he was babbling up a storm pretty early, he seems to have stalled out in that area, even regressed a little. (He was saying the word "down", but now he has stopped.)
One thing is not to specifically bring up when she hit a milestone unless asked. Try not to brag, even though you might want to. Also, if a mom is feeling bad, remind them that most of this stuff does not matter one whit by the time they are all five.
Short of a real problem, they all learn to walk, they all learn to talk. Then you spend the rest of your life teaching them to sit down and shut up! 
Also, some kids take their time with a certain milestone, then seem to leap ahead. My uncle didn't talk till he was 3, and by family legend his first words were "Mom, can I have a glass of water?" My niece was behind in her speech at 2nd birthday, but by 3rd birthday she can write her name, knows all her letters, numbers and colors and almost any animal you can show her. And she speaks quite well.

I agree. I think here though, most people wouldn't mind a little bragging. Who doesn't love to brag about their babies. It's exciting, and we want to share the joy. But, IRL I know what you're talking about. I learned that when talking about Timmy's weight/height. My friend, who's baby is long and lean would get kind of I dunno, hard to explain. But, she would ask about how much he weighed at such and such appointment, and then she'd look a little dissapointed. I don't think you have to worry about that here. We all know babies do different things at different ages, and it doesn't make anyone better.

Christina, I learned to sail from my Dad and because of the area I grew up in I spent most of my summer mornings(and some mornings when I should have been in school) sailing on the St. Mary's river. We always used the college sail boats. Sigh, it is so gorgeous down there. HERE is another picture.

I admit it will be nice to not have to carry him up and down the stairs anymore...unless he is uncooperative, of course. I fell on those stairs twice last pregnancy.
