Hi Ladies!
Well I guess this is my first official week as a SAHM! We got back from our road trip to BC on Wednesday, everything went really well and I wasn't uncomfortable or anything sitting in the car for long periods of time. The weather was only really hot in the one town we stopped at for overnight (but that was ok as the room had AC and nice outdoor pool) but thankfully not our final destination !

You know I can hardly believe how fast time seems to be going, I'll be 31 weeks on Thursday and most days when I really think about it I have to admit I feel terrified. It's like I know there is baby inside that's going to come out but I can't really comprehend that just yet .

On a semi-positive note I have noticed that my weight gain in the last few weeks has definitely slowed down! In the second trimester it felt like I was putting on a pound like everyday and now I've only put on 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I was thinking it had to taper off eventually, I'm currently at plus 28 pounds and am hoping to not go past 35!

In regards to acid reflux I was having some pretty bad episodes the last week or so and so did some searching on the internet for more or less "natural" remedies. I found that not eating within a few hours of bedtime and that also drinking some peppermint tea before bed has really helped curb it.

As to mixed baby showers, I don't think I could ever get my husband to come to a baby shower, he hates things like that and wouldn't come even if it was his own kid! I personally think they're more of a women's thing, though I also think that way about mixed bridal showers.

So our camera currently isn't working which means I can't take anymore belly pics at the moment, hopefully we can get it fixed soon so I can post some new ones!

Oh yes on Friday I took my first even aqua-size class and absolutely loved it! I'm going to one today at well and I'm so excited about it! Who thought that looking like a whale would bring on a love affair with swimming .

Oh man I LOVED swimming when I was preg with my second. It is amazing how great your back can feel when you feel "weightless" in the water. Ryan would take care of Zach and I would just float. That was heavenly!

Angela I personally wanted a co-ed shower, I can't stand some of the stuff that happens at showers so with my husband there and some of the other guys it was a different atmosphere. I enjoyed it immensely. We made it more of a celebration with friends/family rather than just the girls getting together.

Question for you all about baby showers - Have any of you been to a co-ed baby shower? My sister in law had a shower about a year ago and had both men and women at it. Now my mother in law things this is the new trendy thing to do. I kind of feel like the whole atmosphere changes with men there. What do you think? My hubby doesn't care if he is there or not.

Depending on who is there, they can be a lot of fun. DH is totally not into showers and likes to make fun of women every time I go to one. But if there was a shower with all of his brothers and SIL's, we would have a blast. If it's not want you want, tell her you would prefer it not to be co-ed. And she should respect that.

My shower was co-ed...my DH was there with me at the table opening gifts. It was a community shower, and I'm not really from here, but hubby grew up here, so I thought it was important that he be there.

Then my neighbor's shower was a few weeks later, and she did the same thing.

After the baby was born, my mom and aunts had a shower for me, and it was smaller, in someone's home and it was just women.

Both of my showers were co-ed. I liked it better. I hate being the center of attention, so that way, I had my hubby with me to share being the center of attention.

Usually the showers here are just women. But on an occasion the dad to be comes and no one thinks anything about it. I think Klay will probably come to one of my showers (the one my family does) if he isnt there the whole time he'll show up at the end to eat cake and pack up and say thanks.

I was at a co-ed shower yesterday. In fact, I was the only one there who didn't come with a spouse ... dh had to work. This was for our pastor and his wife who are expecting baby #1 (a girl). They jointly opened the gifts, although the pastor was given the honour of opening the very first gift, as it was for him ... it was a "Daddy Diaper Toolbelt" which contained gloves, diapers, wipes, clothespin for his nose, goggles, and a pair of pink tongs to carry the "toxic waste" ... LOL (it had a few other things as well)

In fact, THIS is the exact one he was given, with the pink embroidery.

Well, I seem to be bucking a trend. My 2nd trimester has started out to be far worse then my 1st. Yesterday, I celebrated 14 weeks by throwing up for the 1st time this pregnancy, and today was the second.

What I thought were weather related headaches are back, but it's hard to take Tylenol when you're puking. Sleep is in short supply right now.

I'm sorry for complaining so much; I should be grateful that my first trimester went to well.

dH delayed going to work until I was able to eat some banana bread and walk around a bit. I'm glad he was here this morning. I'm still tired, and it's a little ironic that on a night Nathan sleeps for almost 12 hours straight, I wake up at 4am with headaches and puking. But it's good that Nathan slept. We wouldn't want a tired, cranky toddler on top of it all!

Ruth, I wonder if you should call the doctor. It seems like the headache may be connected to the sudden puking...

Not that I know of. But the advice nurse did ask me to come in, so Nathan and I are leaving in a few minutes. My nose breathing feels normal for me (I have a deviated septum), but my left ear has been bothering me a bit, so I'll be sure and ask them to take a look-see.

That is so funny, Manda, about mistaking a baby shower for a shower-shower.

Well, I do of course know about baby showers, but they're a predominantly American phenomenon, so they're *not* the first thing I think of when I hear the word "showers". I either think of rain or the bathroom equipment!

I didn't mean to imply you don't know about baby showers. I just thought it was funny because I, too, would make that kind of mistake.

Well, unfortunately, I think I had a miscarriage. Over the weekend, I went from spotting to feeling like I was having a regular period. I never did have strong cramping though. I was supposed to go to the docs yesterday, but felt that in the end, if I just waited it out, I'd be able to figure it out myself. I don't like them or trust them, so, I really didn't want to go in. My breasts are already not tender anymore. I'm quite sure I passed the baby yesterday although I felt back to normal. Obviously, if I start feeling awful, I'll go to the docs. Thanks for all your kind words and advice!

Ah, we all make mistakes and often mis-read things. Come on...we're HUMAN. That means we're imperfect!!!

Sherry, are you ready for tomorrow?!?! When is check-in time?

Belly pics

The fact that I look much more tired in the 16 week pic doesn't really mean anything -- I'm feeling fine these days. :)

ETA: Thrilled, I just read your post. I am so sorry. I've lost 3 babies and it is very sad. You'll be in my prayers. I do recommend getting an ultrasound for confirmation, as it is possible to bleed heavily without miscarrying.
