Hah! And I can't wait to get out of mine! The cool thing about going back to non pregnant clothes is that I lost 40lbs before I got pregnant with this one, so I do not have a winter clothing supply! Oh, I won't need much, just maybe a shirt or two. But still that means shopping! I think I'll wait to make sure I'm close to where I'm going to settle with my weight before I go buy new stuff, I'll just go thrift shopping first.

Yes! We were seriously starting to think I was carrying twins because I got big so quickly. I'm almost 33 weeks, and I'm much bigger this time around than I was with dd. I'm probably the same size now as I was right before I delivered at 2 weeks overdue with her. It's kind of bizarre because I started this pregnancy weighing 10 pound less than when I got pregnant with dd, and I still weigh less than I did when I was pregnant with her. I think the baby's position is just making it seem really big - I'm all out front and very low. I do think, like Kathryn said, that your body recognizes what is happening since you've already done it before.

All this talk about maternity clothing has me thinking. We don't have a lot of extra cash, but I know I'm going to need a few things. I teach, so my clothing has to be professional. Any suggestions on a few must haves that I can get a lot of versatility with? I figured pants are a must, so I bought 3 pairs of maternity dress pants on sale  at Thyme Maternity. They have that 3 wear wasteline on them. I have a lot of short sleeved shirts with the empire waste and a tie on the back, so I figure I can wear them for ages, but are there some fall/winter things that I just need to have? I live in Canada so I need to make sure I get stuff that will get me through freezing yard duty.

I'm teaching, but in Texas, so... completely different climate I bought a pair of khaki slacks, a pair of black slacks and a blue jean skirt. I also bought about 6 different colored tank tops. I already have a black button-up shirt and a blue jean button-up shirt that I am planning on wearing unbuttoned over the colored tanks. Once it gets colder, I can wear a long-sleeve shirt unbuttoned over the colored tanks. I bought a few non-maternity baby-doll style shirts in the plus size department that were on sale, so they cost a lot less than true maternity shirts. I have a pair of jeans to wear on Fridays and I got my staff shirt a size too big this year. Almost everything I bought came from JC Penney.
In all, I have bought:
8 pairs underwear
2 skirts (blue jean and brown)
6 tanks (red, purple, turquoise, black, white, brown)
1 pair shorts (blue jean)
1 pair jeans
2 pair slacks (black, khaki)
4 non-maternity [plus size] shirts
4 maternity shirts
Everything was new and I spent about $250. I know that seems like a lot, but I usually spend about $100 replacing worn out clothes at the begining of the school year anyhow, so it wasn't a huge chunk of money. Also, I've been saving for maternity clothes for the past 6 years and have a lot set aside, so none of the money came out of our actual "budget."

I'll tell ya, if there is one piece of clothing I can't wait to be rid of it's the underwear. Oh I can't stand the stuff. I get under the belly because I don't really like anything over the top of my belly, but you can't really call them underwear. They don't stay up, they barely cover. Somedays I wonder if it's worth it!

I think the maternity underwear that go up over the belly are awful. I can't make myself wear them. So far I have been able to stretch out some of the bikini style underwear I already have which is awesome. With my son, I gained weight in the hip area and could never do that.
As for maternity clothes, I don't have a list of what I have bought, but the greatest deals I have found are on ebay. I have gotten a couple really nice dresses. Also, they have maternity clothes listings that are called "lots" which means basically you are buying a group of maternity clothes. The items I have bought are in great shape and usually cheap. The best deal is a dress I bought for $1 (plus $5 shipping).
Motherhood Maternity has good deals in the back of the store. Target, too, has some good deals if you search around in the clearance section.
For working in the yard, can you wear big sweatshirts or sweatpants that you already have? Or even something your husband owns will do.

I have an awesome pair of sweat/workout pants that stretch right up over my belly. I wore them last fall at my thinnest, I have no idea how they do it, but it is wonderful!

Ugh, I don't even want to think about wearing those! I haven't brought myself to do it. I'm still in my regular underwear- so they're obviously below the belly! ANYthing coming up over my belly drives me crazy.
I have also gotten a few stretchy capris/workoutpants type things in a size bigger than I normally wear. Then they're not too tight on my behind, but the elastic waistbands fit under my belly like maternity clothes do. I'm hoping those will last me for a little while when the baby comes, too.

I've already bought some maternity underwear from Thyme Maternity...to be honest...I love them! But then again I'm short so everything has always come up higher. I think I'm gonna ask some of my friends at church if they have anything I can borrow and see how that goes.

Yes, borrowing clothes is one way to get maternity. I have a wonderful friend who let me borrow a lot of her clothes (thank you Rachel!). I also bought a lot of things on sale or at garage sales, or at consignment shops or at thrift shops. It's out there. You kinda add one thing at a time, but it's much cheaper that way.

You can get Mat clothes on Kijiji or eBay for much cheaper. Most times they are barely used!
I used to buy clothes at Thyme, but found they are way too expensive at that store, so I went to Old Navy, or Walmart for nice stuff.
Teaching, does your Old navy have a mat clothes section? Mine doesn't, but I can call the store a few hours away, tell them what i want, and they'll ship it by courier for only $5. (I just looked at the website to see what they had, then kept track of the item number)

Yolanda, my hubby is a little hesitant about me using kijiji or ebay. I did bid on a crib (for fun really) and won it. It was a duplicate for the couple and I got it for only $61! So now he's worried that I'll just keeping winning stuff (isn't that the point!) 
I don't know if my Old Navy has a mat section, I looked but then someone told me to go and look in the baby area so I need to go back and do that. If they don't I'm in the GTA so I can head over to Ajax/Pickering to find another one.

Megan, I'm praying for you. Hopefully your husband will be feeling better soon and your contractions will subside (until he's better )
