GOODMORNING EVERYONE!!! Its raining here too & I slept too late I HATE when that happens!

It poured and thundered and lightninged here. I slept way in... and I like that. hehe. Hope I sleep well tonight.
Thanks to God for the rain. We needed it!

OK, I'll amend the statement to be "People who are awake early rule!"

It's kind of weird with longer days having it be light out at 5 AM. But I like it!

Try "night crowd" and "morning crowd" and you won't have to worry whether they're up by choice or by necessity. :)

Naaaa....that's not true. You just get to date the wholesome, winsome morning girls. Of course, that may not be the kind you were looking for...

I'm okay with her being someone who can get up early. I'm even okay with her being someone who enjoys getting up early. I just hope she's not one of those people who is excessively perky in the morning. I hate that, but even that is okay as long as she doesn't expect everyone else to be as happy in the morning as she is. That's simply over the line.
Calm, happy morning people are okay. The world needs them. Perky, excited morning people just stink. They make us night owls miserable before 10 a.m.

Seems like we have similarly eclectic tastes, then.

How interesting that your brother wrote a novel! I think it would be hard to read a book by an author I was actually acquainted with in real life.

besiderself

Eclectic's good. :)

My brother's a near genius, and he's really excited about his book. It's still in the revision/editing stage, so he wanted me to read it and offer suggestions. So far, it's excellent (I'm 1/3 of the way through it). We have a healthy relationship and respect each other's opinions, so I know that I can offer an honest critique without worrying about hurting his feelings. And it's actually pretty neat that I know the author. He included some details and real experiences from his life that I've noticed that others who don't know him won't "get" or understand as deeply or profoundly. It adds to the enjoyment.

Have you ever wanted to write a book?

When I was younger...much, much younger. But I hated what I wrote, so I never pursued that career choice. I sing MUCH better than I write !

I have had one particular experience reading a book written by a person I knew: unfortunately it was fairly badly written and difficult to explain how to fix to the friend.

How about you? Have you ever written or wanted to write a book?

besiderself

I've completed four, I think. It's hard to keep track. I want to get my first one published, but I haven't gotten it read thoroughly enough by proofers to send it off.

This is one of those times I wish I were married. A nice backrub and someone fixing me dnner would be superb right now. *sigh* Or at least when I got home.

I could arrange the backrub if you don't ask me to make dinner. :-)

Then you and I will do just fine, Skrey. Although I rise early, and like to, I am NOT perky. In fact, if you turn on the lights before I am ready for them, I'm quite grumpy. I make coffee and brush my teeth in the dark. Lights are not allowed until after coffee whenever possible. And don't sing. Or even talk. You can whisper, but that's all.

I'm okay in the morning, as long as no lights go on before breakfast and no excessive noise happens before breakfast. Coming out of blissful slumber is traumatic, and I need some time to adjust to the painful realities of life, like getting out of bed and turning on lights.
*whispers* ...but I don't normally have any coffee in the morning.

Hey all! Is anyone as happy as I am that it's finally Friday!?!?!? Those first weeks back after being on vacation seem to really be exhausting. I'm already ready for another vacation!

And guess what I get to listen to outside my window for the next hour or so???? Da Yoopers. Not sure if any of you ever heard of them but they are here for the Morel Festival and currently playing down at the park which is at the bottom of the hill from me. Kind of glad it's cold enough to keep the windows closed tonight.

No coffee!! Actually I don't always have coffee but I'm afraid I've turned into just a bit of a caffeine addict!!

I love sleeping in when I don't have to get up & go somewhere but I hate oversleeping and then having to hop out of bed and rushing headlong into the day !! Maybe if I used an alarm it would help but normally my built-in alarm clock does just fine Only on rare ocassions does it fail me!

Isn't that usually how it goes? Makes a person wonder if the vacation was really worth it! Why can't life be just one big vacation?! I know, I know that wouldn't be good for me but......

Well, folks, I'm off to eat dinner.
I'm having 2 cups of garden rotini with a tomato sauce consisting of a jar of Classico sauce mixed with diced tomatoes, black olives, basil, celery seed, and some pieces and stems of mushroom, along with a small glass of Manischevitz blackberry wine and a tall glass of water. I do cook, on occasion. :)
Yum, yum.

Well, even though there's not many out tonight I just wanted to say good night to those who are here. I think Da Yoopers may be done so I probably should be able to go to sleep now. I have a big mushroom hunt planned for tomorrow (hopefully there's more picking than hunting this time).

And just want you to know besiderself, I don't think I'm going to be able to pass the Kilwin's shop in my home town tomorrow and not stop in and get a few scoops of Jelly Belly's....and it's your fault (but thank you )

Good night all....hope you have a fantabulous weekend!

Looks like it's me and you, babe;

I'm just waiting for the last batch of Dr. Pepper cookies to cool enough to come off the cookie sheet before going to bed. Got a full day tomorrow.

What does your tomorrow look like?

Have a good day with your Jelly Bellys!

Hey...I've heard others mention Dr. Pepper cookies before and was wondering what are they like? Are they a hard or soft cookie. And does the Dr. Pepper flavor really stand out? I have to make cookies for a barbeque in a few weeks and I just might try making something like that.

Basically they are really good medium soft chocolate cookies. The Dr. Pepper replaces the baking powder: you only use a quarter cup, so no, the flavor doesn't stand out. They are quite nicely textured. For fun, we tried adding Dr. Pepper Jelly Belly beans...but I think the heat of the oven must have taken some of the flavor out of the jelly beans, because they didn't seem to really make a difference, either. I like the texture with the jelly beans in, though.

They are quite nice. I added a little flour (a little more than a half a cup) to make them into drop cookies, and that worked fine.

You can find the recipe over in Fun Betty's PFY thread...FB, are you around? Could you post that link?
