Thanks guys! No, we didn't make the dress; we just altered (shortened) it ourselves. It would have been cool to do that though. Yes Donna, that's my 4yo. She just automatically assumed that she'd be in the pictures too! How many bugs are needed Julia, and does the bug collector enjoy that sort of thing? My youngest two like bugs. Does he(?) have to collect over the summer? Dee

He needs 40 insects...and no, he does not enjoy that sort of thing. He likes bugs...the idea of killing them is not his idea of a good time. When the other two were collecting we were fortunate to find most of the bugs after they had naturally expired (even the butterfly). I hope that youngest ds is able to collect most of his bugs the same way. You don't need to start over the summer, but, most insects are gone by September so it is better to start now.

Hi all. I haven't been in here in awhile and I hopr all is well. Have any of your schools had false threats written on walls lately? Ds came home with a note on Friday stating that someone wrote a threat in the girls bathroom for today. The note said that the satff and police looked inot this and said that the school would remain open on Monday. I sent ds. I've heard this has happened in a few other districts in IL.

We have had a few of those threats. (last year) They send our kids to the neighboring school and call in the dogs. It went around last year about this time at many of the county schools. Most schools were sending the kids outside to sit and wait while the dogs checked the school. When they started sending the kids to churches and made them sit and be quiet or (gasp) continue learning AND billed parents for the search (in addition to suspension) - it all came to a crashing end.

Deb, We've had a few of those around here lately too, but I don't think anything has been written on walls. The most recent one came in the form of a note sent to a student of one school stating that many area schools - both middle and high schools were going to "suffer great loss of life" on a certain day, with several schools suffering more then others. So that circulated throughout the county REALLY quickly via text messaging. The middle school my eldest attends amped up security that day and called parents, per policy, and let us know that if we wished we could come and pick up our children and the abscence would not be counted against them. There were also several racial hatrad notes found in one area school recently too! Blessings, Garsy

Oh Donna! Just wait til the baby is entering 2nd!! Or worse - High school! I'm not old enough to have a high schooler. Nope. Ty just got home and told me that one of his neighborhood friends, a kid that spends A LOT of time in my home was arrested over the weekend for shoplifting from a comic book store and was in juv. hall for a day. I don't know what the whole story is as I'm getting it third hand through my ds, who heard it from someone else. My kids counted last night and at the end of today they have 18 days left! I'm going back out to mow a little bit more! Blessings, Garsy

If Momma cuts the pie in 5 pieces and you eat two, and your father eats two, how many 1/5 pieces of the pie are gone and how are your sibling and I going to share the one that is left.

true! I think hubby finally got through to him. Found some additional worksheets online for him so hopefully he's got it figured out now. I need to change my avatar - got some gorgeous photos of my tulips! Of course now they are dying back already! And for the first time since I planted them 2 years ago, my irises are getting ready to bloom!!!! Garsy

I need to change mine too. I'm just not good at it. Ds told me that many kids were out today because of the threat and there were a few undercover cops walking around. The school does have a youth officer on staff which is really good. The schools not dangerous, but they do take in the "bad" kids in the area. I can't believe some parents would be that scared.

When we had that threat recently, and the school called me, to let me know that I could come and pick Ty up if I wanted to, I told them to keep him at school, because quite honestly he was safer in the school building then we were in coming to get him. I guess every school in the county and a couple surrounding counties called in extra security staff. Blessings, Garsy

Prayer requests / updates... Good news. I asked for prayer for the new mother who was having bathroom problems after a c-section. She changed doctors, did what she needed to do, and went back to work 3 days a week last week. YIPPEE! Continued request. Mom. Me. The family dynamic. I am upset and frustrated and don't know how to interact with my mom, or sister for that matter and it will have an impact on how my kids treat each other and me as we all get older. I want to break the cycle without breaking contact, but I don't want the kids to see this behavior any more. New request. DeeDee's friend A. She has 'problems' and I have never heard a diagnosis. Yesterday she shared that she did not think life was worth living and wished she was dead. I found the words to ask if she had a plan, without letting DeeDee hear that term/idea and DeeDee said that A was choking herself with her own hands. Something needs done now and I don't want to call the school because Mom (reportedly, by A) does not accept school interference well. I don't know her well enough to know if she would accept comments from me and I don't want A to STOP confiding in DeeDee, who seems to be her only friend. And, to make it rougher for me - A's stepdad and Poppa are co-workers so I don't want to cause tension at work either. This young lady needs our prayers. I didn't think she had a plan that would cause me to call last night, but I know I need to talk to someone today. WHO-WHO-WHO???? Poppa won't talk to stepdad, DeeDee won't talk to the school (A asked her not to) and that leaves me. And, while I am sharing. Mom's church is having a Daughter's Day Banquet this weekend. That irks me. LOTS. I know that not everyone has kids but lets honor the MOTHER'S in our lives. The Godly examples we have to follow along with our own mother. Those who have raised us physically and spiritually. Those we love. The lady who treats my kids like her own grandchildren while hers are far away. The single woman who talks to my kids the same way I do, and then talks to another child in the same manner that THEIR parents do is reinforcing our parenting and supporting us and our children and should be honored for doing so. But DAUGHTER'S DAY?!?!?!? Apparently some ladies were hurt they weren't included because they aren't MOTHER'S so to make them feel welcome, they changed the name. Needless to say, I am unamused about this. And, I did inform the hive that I am the QUEEN everyday, not just the second Sunday in May.
